When a Texaco oil rig mis-triangulates its drilling position and hits a nearby salt mine full of workers, an entire lake complete with homes, barges, and land drain into the enormous sink hole. Soon the river reverses direction and brings in water from the ocean, swallowing up more land.

On the topic of drilling oil wells, with all the millions of gallons being sucked out of the earth every day for the last 100 years, I'm getting a bit worried that the earth is going to collapse in on itself. :mfr_omg: There must be an enormous volume of hollow earth down there somewhere. I believe that in some places, sea water is pumped in to retrieve the last few ounces of crude oil, but I don't notice the sea level dropping by much. :nono:

HaHa I wonder the same thing, and yes they do use water injection to get the last bit of oil out. hmmm

yes they do dan. and in here alberta, where there is a tremendous amount of oil activity, the oil industry pumps billions of litres of fresh water down wells. water that is lost, forever. it's a great concern for us, but the government just allows it. alberta has a lot of water. a large portion of it flows by my house every day, the peace river. 90% of the water that flows in alberta, flows in the peace/athabasca system.

water is life. oil is not. sacrificing that volume of good water is not reasonable.
