26 May 2009 • Thank you so much to all who responded to our call for funds. Your generosity has allowed us to pay off the credit card debt from our travel last fall to Australia's Nexus conference and Thailand.
It has wisely been suggested that we give our supporters an estimate of our costs of operation. Basically, we need funding to pay rent, food etc. as well as travel for interviews. Those who know the power of getting face to face testimony documented on film can appreciate how valuable this is.
We both live in different areas of the world. I live north of Los Angeles and Bill lives in Switzerland. At the moment Bill has had some of his living expenses paid by his housemates and friends but clearly paying his own way would be preferred.
At the moment we now have just enough to make it through to mid July. The cost of operation for the year 2008 was about $45,000. However at that time we were mainly living together and traveling.
We basically broke even except for an $18,000 credit card debt for travel that year. So the total needed was actually, $63,000. This is actually quite low for operation, food and basic living costs for two people.
So once again, thanks for all the support and please do continue to contribute if you are able.
We are looking into the possibility of becoming a nonprofit. Alternatively, we would have to consider having advertising on our site, something we have both been unwilling to do.

As long as I'm sending money, I want to make sure that I can access this place. I've had several issues that are persistent but otherwise, I can still access this place. I wonder if TPTB have anything to do with blocking my access? Hmm.

HJ, Usually issues like that can be traced to some kind of glitch rather than intentional interference, but hey, ya never know.

The member stats show to be around 7000, then the "active members" show to be just under 1000. Are the "active members" the ones that are paying a subscription fee?

Hi Moxie,

"Active Members" are members who have been online over the past ten minutes or so.

"Members Online" are those who are currently looking at the site.

"Members" are the total number of members we hold in our data base.

If I'm wrong with this information, Gareth will put me right.

Best regards,

Steve

I'll see if I can get a count on that.

We have given around 140 gift subscriptions with about 70 of them paid by other members.
