Swine Flu Kills Obese People: Is U.S. Primed for a Pandemic Catastrophe?

Sunday, July 12, 2009 by: Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

(NaturalNews) The fact that nearly two-thirds of U.S. adults are clinically obese is worrisome for a whole new reason: Evidence emerging from a hospital in Michigan (and published by the CDC) appears to indicate that obese patients may be very easily killed by swine flu.

In the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's report on death and disease, researchers documented the case of ten swine flu patients at a Michigan hospital who became so ill they were put on ventilators. Three of the patients ultimately died from the infection. The kicker? Nine of the ten were obese, and two of the three who died were severely obese.

As reported by Reuters, CDC virologist Dr. Tim Uyeki said, "What this suggests is that there can be severe complications associated with this virus infection, especially in severely obese patients."

Notably, five of the patients showed evidence of blood clots in their lungs, indicating severe cellular trauma in the lungs. Nine of the patients suffered from multiple organ failure, and six experienced kidney failure.

What it means for the U.S. population

I like how they use these cases to make a case that ALL obese people are at risk. Smells of fear to me.

Does this mean that we'll be targeted first for a vaccine? Blah. **** that.

It follows. Obesity is not good for the immune system - so it follows that obese people are more at risk of *anything*.

I don't get sick that often but I find that when I do, I need more rest. It kind of makes sense but I certainly hope that they never get to weaponize this virus in the first place. :lightsabre:

I'm sure there is but I'm quite sensitive to fat jokes.

However, there's got to be a joke out there that I can laugh at without feeling like ****.

I wonder if "regular" flu has higher mortality rates for obese people...

I do believe that some of these designer viruses (like AIDS, SARS) are targeting certain genotypes, and I would not be surprised if they would target the obese. Because, as you can see by this thread, there is a lot of judgment and hatred shown for these individuals.

I'm not exactly skinny...SO I look at my posting as about myself included....and I see Tango as correct....If I put less food in my mouth....backed away from the keyboard and went for a walk....I wouldn't be this way. Tango is over the top but I see where he is coming from. How many obese people fall into that "this is genetics" category?

Not me......I think I'll go for a walk today

Thanks Tango:trumpet:

I'm willing to bet that you will find that MOST things are more deadly for severely obese people. It comes with the territory.

That said, I know most people would like to blame the obese for their "predictament" - I think there's a good lot to be said for the chemicals (MSG, among others) in our foods, the genetically altered foods, and things like high fructose corn syrup and artificial sweeteners that make people hungrier. The food industry WANTS us to consume more - and does things to encourage it.

I know people who work out like fiends, watch what they eat, and still don't lose weight. For someone who doesn't have that [genetic? karnic?] situation going on in their life to sit in judgment of someone who does is.... wrong, IMHO.

(And don't get me started on my rant about MDs who frequently know less about nutrition and weight than the average secretary)

Yeah, phen-fen - let's kill off all the fat people by giving them heart valve problems, so that the first really significant illness takes them away! <G>

Blessings Tango,

Hey, if people want to loose weight that is all great advice. :thumb_yello:

Don't forget milk, cream and ice cream. :zip:

AND chewing the food until it is liquid before swallowing (including not putting another spoonful in the mouth until the last one is chewed). The brain will register its full sooner than if food is gobbled until the temple is gorged and over-stuffed. A person will easily loose weight just masticating it until its liquid and stopping when they are full.

i thought this hemmoragic flu was going to attack people with healthy immune systems. cytokin storms ect... not fat ill people as there immune systems are somewhat compromised. theywill become ill but prob wont die..

also notice the latest news of ebola in pigs. i can see it now swine flu mixes with ebola and creates deadly virus. obv they have to concoct a story to fit round the virus they are going to be releasing soon.
