Week in review: Android has arrived

Two years after Google announced Android, phone manufacturers are launching devices with the mobile operating system, and carriers are lining up to sell them.

In the past couple of months, nine devices using Google's mobile operating system have been announced. The pipeline is full of more Android devices, some that are confirmed and some that are still rumored to be in development.

Google's Android Allows Soldiers to Put Drones on Buddy List
Defense giant Raytheon has turned Google's mobile operating system into a military application
By Jeremy Hsu Posted 10.21.2009 at 2:49 pm

Google's Android operating system for cell phones could allow soldiers to track fellow squad members and even unmanned drones in real time on a map -- as long as the humans and robots are on their buddy list...

Raytheon plans to deploy RATS within the next month or so, after two years of development, according to Forbes. We're looking forward to the future editions where users can control their robot swarms using basic body language.

'Stealth' Droid commercial looks amazing

Mysterious and well-shot, the commercial should start running on TV this week, according to BGR. We're guessing you'll see it first during Tuesday night's premiere of "V" on ABC, or maybe during the World Series. With something this high budget you'd expect Verizon to put it in front of as many eyes as possible. We'll be watching the skies on 11/6.

X-reference:

A complex, heavily-themed game by Fantasy Flight full of colourful art and great bits, this sci-fi murder conspiracy game set in a Blade Runner-esque future seems to really polarise opinion.
