Maybe all of the above...
It fits right in with the human degradation of the senses. All tricks to keep us numb, docile... Intentionally? Don't know... the effect is the same!

I see it as people not being happy with reality, so they try to create an alternative virtual reality that has everything they can't get in the outside world.

I agree, but it goes both ways. If the ptw(b) don't want you to know who you really are (which they've set the blueprint for with the help of...) and you fell for it (as humanity has fallen for it), you'll live in this human degradated reality, a lower reality that creates unhappy people (don't get me wrong by interpreting lower reality as an opposite of higher/better reality... there's no value added here... imo they're just different dimensional playgrounds)... it perpetuates itself. If you saw the guy in the video who designed the doll, I guess in his way he meant well ("innovations to make your life more sexually fullfilling and to spice my bank account"). He might actually (want to) believe that he's helping people to "create an alternative virtual reality that has everything they can't get in the outside world".

Loneliness is a horrible, destructive emotion in our society..
Are these inventions the answer?
i believe each one of us, know someone who is lonely enough that , they could use someone like this...
These days ...you can get by on a smile.... Beauty is a commodity ..

No wonder females can get a bit fed up with "male's" perceptions, hopes and scientific endeavors.
Oh, well. It's probably better than, what, GMO seeds. (?)

The fun begins when said bots are linked in real time to actors (shades of The Diamond Age and Being John Malkovich). Safe sex? How weird is that! Also, If you like your bot avatar more than your own body, can you hire a shaman to upload your soul to the robot? :roftl:

hi celine ...
i know what you mean ... initially i felt this roxxy robot a degradation to females ... perhaps because of the '10' they built her to be ...
but then as i processed this more ... i felt more and more we are taking away from our humaness of who we are ... replacing our true selves with who we want ourselves and others to be ... as if what we are is not enough ...
i'm very open about everything ... i know miss roxy will be of interest to some ... and that's great ...
but something feels like it is constantly being taken from our humaness ...
the distractions just keep getting more distracting i suppose ...
pulling us further away ...

That isn't exactly true... if you read the whole text, a male version is in the making as well... they will name it Rocky...
Not that it really matters, of course.
It's all about (un-)conscious dehumanization us, I agree.
Maybe some people need to go through all of this in order for them to have a rude awakening. Just like a dark night of the soul can bring you new ways of looking at things. I went through heavy soulsearching times... (er... but not with dolls and all :original:) and feel quite awake nowadays!
My advice would be: let's not give it too much attention. It's lowering our vibes!

a few weeks ago ... i read an article of a man in eastern canada ... who had been working on his 'she robot' for over a decade ... she was now complete ... the clip stated he built her to be his companion ... to cook and clean and such ... i don't recall how many sentences she could verbalize but it was plenty ...
her skin apparently was very soft to the touch ... that of almost human skin ... it also stated that she is a woman in every way ... but didn't expand further on that ...
after reading ... i observed the photo of this inventor sitting on the floor with his she companion ... he looked tickled pink of his creation ... she looked like a doll still ... her legs weren't even sitting natural ... he did write she wasn't quite perfect ... yet ...
after viewing this photo for a few minutes ... i felt such vacancy within it all ... that something very significant was missing in it ...
here this man thinks what he had created was the absolute all ... so proud and eager to live his days with her ...
her?
i thought ... is this what we're coming to ... overall it just felt truly sad ...
and yet ... i felt this is not where it ends ... when the bubble becomes too full of what is not real ... of distractions ... eventually it will go pop ...

Okay, I read the thread and looked over the video. First, this was out several years ago on one of those 'Real Sex' episodes on HBO in the U.S.A. and other than the 'automated upgrades' this has been out for at least six or eight years, not that it's a great big deal.
Secondly, I see in the thread where comments are made suggesting that this is a further attempt to degrade the human condition in this way or that as though the PTD are in cahoots with this creepy inventor who CLEARLY invented this doll as a work around to compensate for his basic lack of social skills. I doubt it and seriously dude! Wouldn't you be better off in the long run working on yourself than building a robot?
Are there men out there with more money than sense when it comes to a product like this? The market will decide.
In the mean time, what about all those guys that buy this $9,000.00 sex doll on credit and after a year or two, can't make the payments? Will the repo man come after the doll? Will the offender develop a psychological attachment to this doll and try to make a run for it?
Will we see a cable show where they are chased down?
Did anyone else see the Twilight Zone episode where the man was placed on a prison planet for a crime and was given one of these for companionship?
What about the implications of use within an existing relationship?
Would they become so advanced with their artificial intelligence that they would desire emancipation? would they use their built in wifi to call for help? Would the wifi work like Amazon and have a message pop up that reads: "Those who did this with the doll, also enjoyed this".
Crazy stuff...:chuff:

You just got a bunch of respect points for that.
Its time we all recognize the feminist movement for what it is and for what it has become. It was a huge fraud and has caused more damage to families than all the wars combined. And the kicker is, women are less free now than they were before.

I for one enjoy the company of an intelligent woman who is able to take responsability for herself and not blame everything on men while she sucks his bank account dry. While this is not so for every woman it has become the pervasive attitude of women in our country.
The first ones to blame are the PTB/NWO. They are the ones who funded it with books, magazines, TV shows and adds. Free yourself from men. Be your own women. Be strong and fight. I even bought into it for a while. it sounds sooo good, what could go wrong. We were all duped and its time we get responsible and realize it.
We all need each other and any attempt to escape it will only end in tragedy.

Perhaps a clue is in the question though Burgundia...
You put the word 'sex' in the title of a thread and it gets nearly 2000 hits in just a couple of days - whereas our lowly Devon and Cornwall thread which was set up nearly a year and a half ago with a purpose that this site was created for (building physical networks and communities) has only had about 4000 hits in all that time.
This tells us something about our human condition(ing) surely.
So , what do the people want, consciously or subsoncsiously? Is it building communities or robots to turn on.. and turn on... ?

Nothing wrong with sex...it will always be on people's minds (maybe it is conditioning, maybe not...). the problem is with attitude towards it and towards each other....
Kulapops
01-13-2010, 01:51 PM
I mean that sexual force and the drive to sex is a very strong one. Stronger perhaps even than the drives to food and shelter (and making preparations for cataclysms it seems).
So it's not too surprising that people will go to extremes (and even silly ones like this robot) lengths to get it. I don't think that people's attitude is wrong necessarily. People just want to have sex...and if they can't get it, they'll see what their other options are. Men and women have slightly different attitudes towards it (in the main...I'm not trying to categorise).
Perhaps this robot shows the attitude of some men (or women) of their best (in their mind) bet for getting something they feel they have no other recourse to.
Ok.. perhaps they could try dating sites instead. It's hard to imagine a higher self planning a robo-buddy as an earthly experience - but there you go.
Sex and power... it gets the attention every time. No wonder we have the hierarchies we do on this planet.
Despite the lonely sadness this purchase infers...I can't help seeing the funny side of this 'bot... and her part in any gender discussion...maybe it's just my strange sense of humour...:original:
Peace n love... and thanks for the thread

(probably costs a bit more than $9000 though. Ask Sienna)

P.S. if someone can leave a message on my page as to how to embed I'd be grateful (I tried copying the embed code for the video into the post, but it just came out as html words)

lol... I wish I could have figured out how to embed the video...then perhaps you would not have been quite so excited before clicking on the link!

My , you are hard to please :lol3: I can see we're going to have to spend a lot of money to build an extra special one to keep you warm at night.
Would $6 million cover it ?

I'd rather have this to keep me warm at night than a sex robot...:lmfao:

i get the sense, that most people, look down on someone who would want a sex robot...i find that perplexing ..and somewhat sad...
What works for one, does not always work for another..

Mmm... nice lines ! :original:
P.S. I bet we'd probably best not even go near the subject of automated mechanical pleasures...as some people's alternative to real love... :wink2:
I personally can't understand why some women would use vibrators...instead of something real. But that doesn't make it wrong to use one...is that cheating? Like cheating by using a robot? it just wouldn't be what I'd think of doing. But then I'm not a woman, I'm not in that situation, so my understanding is limited. Maybe it's the same for Robbie the Robot. If I was in the situation of someone contemplating buying one, the reasons would probably be obvious to me.
I agree with Celine... and I think judging others for being sad or quirky or even downright misled is only loading up the scale in the other direction. I do it myself of course. All the time. In 2010 I'm going to try my hardest to understand what I dislike and embrace it. Unity here we come :original:
Not that I'm judging anyone here mind... Crikey, this is hard, isn't it ?! lol....
I love you all, robots and all apparati. :wink2:
I'd say though, (Kula Sings...)
