View Full Version : Help ! Dealing with my addiction to Project Avalon
Kulapops

Ahem...
Dear all...
In fact you're all very dear to me. That's part of the problem.
I've been dipping in and out of Avalon over the last month or two. You probably noticed :wink2:
But that's just it... the frequency is increasing... and I spent nearly all day yesterday posting on one thread or another.
You probably noticed :wink2:
Just wondered if anyone else out there has trouble getting off this site, or returns more frequently than they'd ideally like in a sane world?
Perhaps you can put your thoughts here. Don't worry, I'm not trying to be subversive here. I love this site, and the call to love for JennyG is just one of the reasons to feel proud of what we can achieve as an online community.
However, the nub I feel, is like a very strong draw to the New Posts page...it's like my energy hooks into PA...and I can't get out. It's ridiculous !
I read another post and another, then I check back on other threads I've contributed to to see what others think, then I read posts that friends have contributed to.. send a message here and there and then its -
WHERE DID THAT DAY GO TO ??
It's a circle that just goes round and round... and there's no getting off, barring a call from the stomach or the bladder. Do I have an addictive personality?? Or is this normal forum behaviour ?
It would be great to know what constitutes average forum usage (30mins over lunch at work? An hour when you get home? Or on and off all Bl**y day?! lol)
I want to tell you that I love you all, and the topics are fascinating. And I love to write... and I love to debate..
You probably noticed :wink2:
But how do you guys deal with leaving the site for a few days or hours.. and not following what's going on? Don't cha just have to know?
Welcome to the Avalons Anonymous thread.

dear kula, too much of anything isnt particularly good imo. if your thinking your dedicating too much time online or on anything then you prob are my friend. trust yourself and your inner feelings and do what feels right for you now. change is good. from my experience just do it...go wherever you need or want to or stop whatever you need or want to, aslong as you are not causing anyone heartache you must do what feels true and go with it. Take the leap. big love and peace always my friend

Haha.
I can relate. It is very addicting. Wanting to know the latest news. How do we break from it?
:mfr_omg:
You are not alone! I am exactly the same Kulapops and I must admit my backside is getting pretty numb! :naughty: I really need to get a grip on this as I’m falling behind my research and the books are piling up now.
For now, I’m just putting it down to being a newbe and am hoping the novelty will wear off eventually. It’s also a breath of fresh air to connect with like minded people as I’ve been a loner (by choice) for many years now and this last month is the most communication I’ve engaged in (even when I was working).
Don’t fight it and just flow with it for now and know there are others in the invisible boat.

Thanks Gita... That's just how I feel. It's not like I don't have a life outside of Avalon.. but how can one not be drawn to so many like-minded people?
Maybe some people get the same buzz from a whist drive. But for me, I've always been defined by my slightly alternative take on the world.
Avalon has given a chance and a channel to explore and grow through those thoughts with like minded people. But Mikey's right... if it feels like too much, then it is. But I have long waited to fight the good fight... and it feels like that is what Avalon is... so it seems more important than ,say, the washing up... lolol.
What's great, is that there is a development for me. I started by spending lots of time reading up on all the 'doom and gloom'. Yes, it's fascinating when you first come across it. That doesn't attract me now. But the shifting play of energies and real people's development of their consciousness is so fascinating to watch , it's like staring into a fire of consciousness and my attention is riveted to the shifting flames, and not only that, but I feel a call to add my light to that fire...
:mfr_omg:
Erm, yes. can i have that nice coat with the big white ties now...?

It's just that there is such a disconnect from what we know and are learning here, and the mainstream.
Truth and knowledge are power. Why wouldn't you want to tap into that? Especially when the people in the world around us are so very much asleep.

Hi Kulapops,
I recognize the feeling ... and I know you're not to blame. Probably you are constantly stimulated by the feeling that something is about to happen.
Lots of Avalonians will share that feeling (no coincidence).
But consider the paradox .... nothing will be happening if we all keep monitoring the state of the planet on our screens. :lmfao:
Switch of your computer and look outside the window, that's where life (at least as we know it now) takes place.
Your attention is needed there to manifest ... whatever you can imagine is needed in this world.
If we would be doing that a bit more frequently with sincerity there would be more wonderful things to report. :mfr_lol:
Have a nice day :wub2:

It seems to me that coming to this site is an escape from the world or what it has turned in to ,
The people on avalon are lovely caring ,friendly ,etc ,you dont see this in your everyday life, Out there everyone in a hurry and have stopped thinking it seems
I have not been on avalon long but feel the people are part of my family ,
I can relate to most posts of either experiencing it or learning from it ,
SO GLAD I joined ,even though house work has gone out the window lol,
Kulapops
01-13-2010, 03:07 PM
even though house work has gone out the window lol,
Great Zaina ! This is what I wanted to know... So it's not just me.. Again at Avalon.. we find we are not alone.
As for going outside operator, I completely agree... in fact I started a thread entitled Step Away from the PC only a few months ago.. so it's a reoccuring theme for me. It was the subscription that saved me before that (that is not paying).
The solution is not leaving Avalon... because I think it is important and we are united in so many endeavours... but trying to find a way to dip in and out.
Do I really have to set the kitchen timer ?! lol...

hi kulapops ...
sometimes we are like pendulums ... swinging waaaay over to the farthest side and then waaaay back ... but eventually finding a nice balance within center ...
there are days when i can't seem to pry myself from here ... communication is so much deeper and richer than that of the surface fluff elsewhere ... i figure as long as i've showered at least once during that time :naughty: ... then i'm exactly where i should be ...
but mostly ... i have found my balance ... rotating what needs to be done ... playing within nature ... and participating here ...
you will find that balance too ... once your cup is full and about to overflow ... you'll know it is time for a bit of a break ... could be just a day or more ... and you'll return with perhaps a newfound wisdom and a refreshed outlook ...
love reading your posts ... remember to feed the dog and shower ... :lmfao:

yes, kulapops..you tried to flee Avalon last year and you were successful. The subscription helped you with making that decision. i remember your thread about getting off the computer...it was good advice. probably you wrote it more for yourself as you sensed that you were getting addicted..:lol3: You did quite well for a long time and now it's got you....:lmfao: may be we should create an equivalent of AA...:lol3:.We'll call it :AtA -- Addicted to Avalon...:lmfao:.

Yes.. I thought I had it cracked... Then the rotters running the world invented Swine Flu.. and that got me back to my Avalon family (cost me $5 by the way.. did I tell anyone?? :original:) And then the rotters at Avalon went and axed the subscription. It's criminal I tell you...
Now I'm sucked in like an orange into a hoover. Can't...get... my ..head out.
Just think how bad it'd be with my addiction problems if I bought a fembot... I might never leave the house !!

Hey Kula;
Deteriorata was written by the folk at the National Lampoon, right after
Desiderata came out. T'was done in the mode of Blazing Saddles, whose sub-title was "Never give a saga an even break (Mel Brooks will go down in history).
I too reach a saturation point around here, almost daily, of late.
It helps to reach for the truly decent humanitarian act...
Stand up, and run screaming from the room, and go do something else, while the plumbing backs up, round here. Then... have another go.

But how do you guys deal with leaving the site for a few days or hours.. and not following what's going on? Don't cha just have to know?
Yes I just have to know. :)
Usually I don't go more than 48 hours without checking out all the forums I frequent, see what the crowd are talking about and whats new.
I suppose forums are my newspaper and intellectual discussion venue.
But how long do I spend on forums? well it varies, from day to day, maybe theres a particular topic that keeps me hooked and coming back.
If I'm free, a couple of hours spent on forums is well worth the time, but if I'm busy with life's hardships then only a couple minutes.
You're not alone though, I remember when I used to spend like 20 hours a day on forums. Its good for a while, addicting, but like any addiction, the taste inevitably becomes all too regular after a while, but thats a good thing! its makes you find loopholes and creating fixed shifts where you go on and then off again appropriately, with regards to whatever you do in life.

Yes... I watched this site off and on, during the paid subscription...(once a ground crew, always the ground crew I say) but posting is far more addictive than reading. It's a combination of very important issues and it works on many levels I think.
Lightblue is right, a forum is not the place to seek help for getting away from a forum, but I'm not really seeking help... I'm more interested if this affects members like it affects me, because I've not seen anyone else posting about this, and yet ironically it must be a fundamental topic to all at avalon (I'd have thought).
How to juggle saving the world with hoovering and gardening. I suppose I best go watch the Incredibles again for some tips...
best wishes to you all and thanks all for your input in this.
And for making me laugh.
Just remember...if it gets too much... join me here at AA (Avalonians Anonymnous!)

Lol remember that feeling well ,going to bed at 3 4 am then getting up 7 am dealing with kids one hand other tapping away on laptop.
I get out into nature more now, since Nexus sacred site meditaton in July 2009(wiltshire),i have ended up moving there and am now living in a barge on the canal.
So now i have more time to be in tune with nature and myself.
I get online now and then, but when i do i dont feel the need have a peek an update and hello to few friends ,then quite happy to turn off.
So my advice would be get out more into nature and enjoy the wonders abound..

I am happily " addicted " to Avalon since over a year now.
I am here daily since I realized within days of opening the
magic gates that I was reconnecting with my soul family .
The joy and Love that came out of this was so strong that
I had to hold onto the walls for several weeks in an attempt not to take off.
I spend hours here besides my daily work .
The only time I left the forum for a few days was to meet my nexus friends
on real grounds .The love bond we experienced was so deep that we found it hard to part .
I truly love you .. all of you .. there is 'nt one soul here I don't cherish and honor.
You are very special .It seems to me we made that appointment
long ago to meet each other and share our respective paths and the wisdom
we gathered on our way.
From you I learned so much and in so little time .
I feel that as long as the Love grows no time is wasted .
Each love seed planted in anyone's heart is travelling the whole world.
And Love my dear friends is the most sacred key you'll ever hold in your hands.
For with a closen heart is there really any place to go ?
So Kula if it was only for knowledge and chatting do you believe you would be so addicted ?
Or is it maybe something else about Avalon that makes it such a fascinating place ? ;)
Love from me

I can fix your addiction with a few clicks :) However I wont because I dont know if you have access to sharp implements or not.
Perhaps we should set up an "Addicts" group - then everyone in that group will be prevented from accessing Avalon for one day per week, and one full week per month.

well I've had a pint of guiness and am just finishing one small glass of wine (earthly addictions are fine in moderation... and anyway I've got a kidney cleanse coming up soon courtesy of Andreas Moritz -- Thanks Connecting With Sauce for the introduction to him by the way...) Fred , you crack me up.. I think we have the same sense of humour. ( I hope that's not self aggrandisation on my part btw)
Yes... I know about the door to the world outside. But freedom of choice... that's the problem. Anchor.. I like the idea of self inflicted bans if that were possible... bl**Dy frustrating... but I like the idea of being frozen out at least a week a month for my own good !!

I've tried to quit many, many times...but I lack the willpower. My self-esteem is at an all-time low. Oh wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from Project Avalon? I've even prayed about it. I fully expect to be in therapy very soon...sobbbing 'Doctor...it all started with that damn Avalon!!!' Maybe I need a cult member reprogrammer to save me! Next time someone asks 'mind if I smoke?'...I'll quickly reply 'not if you don't mind if I log onto Project Avalon!' This is what happened to two fine citizens who let their internet addictions get out of control. (viewer discretion advised) They spent hours and hours each day...researching conspiracies, extraterrestrials, ufo's, the secret government, and esoteric spirituality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ozk7fnKilU See what happens? Don't let this happen to you. Get help...now. Maybe I won't have to worry about Avalon when the Jesuits lock me up in a monastery somewhere. (like the 'prison' Leo was in) Please make it France (close to Saint Sulpice) or Italy (Sorrento maybe - I once attended a very old Roman Catholic church there)...and make sure there's a little tracker pipe-organ in the chapel. If it's not too much trouble. Actually...perhaps the Monks and the Amish have the right idea...and I'm very serious. We really need to live more simply and devotionally. Just as long as I have my fast internet!

yea i've been hearing natures call as well. as odd as it is i've been climbing lots of trees... especially this one holly tree in my backyard where i'll just go up there and read. its a really surreal experience to just get up high in a tree and be in your own world and meditate or just enjoy the height and view.

Ah, Kula, give yerself a break. I mean, don't knock your head about Avalon. First, it's better than tv. Second, it's interactive, which is better than just sloshing through the net without any other people commenting and connecting. Third, it's Winter. What else is there to do? We have connected, all of us, through our gloom and doom phases, and then on, to our solutions phase. Nothing wrong with finding joy in community. You, across the big water, are now my neighbor, and we're debating together, all of us, just like on the front porches of earlier times. The new front porch is now a forum. What's so kool is that we can talk with our "neighbors" from all over the world. What we are finding out is that we are more similar than we are different. A very big step for the humans. It was time for us to figure all of this out...maybe we will refuse to let our leaders start wars among us once we recognize those similarities.

There is only one other forum I belong to as an active member. If it is a compulsion and not a reflection of a true sense of urgency re the state of this planet then it will get addressed in my clearing work.
In fact, I would like to see myself becoming more interactive in this forum.
Is this part of our journey back to Source?

Well, there is no cure for this kind of addiction, Kulapops. I reccomend everyone to accept it as reality and try to make the addiction more easier and pleasurable.
So here are my few general advices:
1. By a new chair, as comfortable as possible..maybe one that can be transformed in a kind of bed;
2. Move your computer desk near to a window, so you will have a contact with reality (you can open it from time to time);
3. Bring the refrigerator next to you, so you can catch it without standing from the chair;
4. The toilet issue still not resolved...perhaps we can think about some kind of diapers or eventually to ask some benevolent ETs how they deal with the problem;
5. Release your pet to be free again...and to care about itself;
6. Make your "hammer" against the trolls; and
7. Say: So, help me God!
:lol3:
PS: Additional measures by other Avalonians are welcomed...

Thanks DTM for that cartoon. Love Gary Larson... haven't had one of his calendars for a few years...
I love the one with the monster reading the big sign outside the city that says 'YOU MUST BE THIS TALL TO ATTACK THE CITY' :original:
Thanks for the video Tango... I've seen that before, is it part of a bigger movie? (I know the film is Network, isn't it? Got given that for christmas! but isn't the overall clip from Zeitgeist or some such?)
Oliver... love the suggestions... yes, before I got stuck here, I was making fresh soups nearly every day... now we're back to tins !
There goes the survival supply ! :original:
Yes, notice I'm not criticising Avalon... I love posting here, and reading all your thoughts. We do seem to be sharing an experience. Where else can I come to talk with soooo many who are going through the same process??
So it's not a problem. But it's not like it's going to be all over by Thursday either is it? :lol3: so I thought it might be nice to have a place where we can come and vent any addiction frustration :original:
Like... "well. I'm on this thread because... well, the cat has been meowing at me for 20 mins now....but just one more post...." and some decent soul can read that and say 'Feed your Cat !!!'
Like we need to be told what to do ? lol....
Ok.. I'm externalising my own issues. I need someone to say to me.... "Go and do the washing up already !! Love ain't gonna do that, honey!"
lol... we're all one remember....
Loves yas... loves me's

Oliver, you made me laugh until tears came down. Now, if we could just get the refrigerator to fill itself...

I find this site filled with interesting information as well as people. My returns are becoming less frequent because of the lack of evidence in these whistleblowers testimonies. It seems people have become so upset at the way the world is they chose to wait around fantasizing over the next piece of sci-fy information that depicts salvation.
Meditation and the law of attraction is about the only thing I can agree with because I’ve been experiencing the results for years. All of this 2012 stuff, secret societies, aliens and the like is very intriguing but seeing is believing…at least in my case. All my life I’ve had to deal with lies, so until these guys/Whistleblowers prove their stories and stop tampering with the minds of the people they will always come off as attention seekers and manipulators. If you require a fee to share important life altering info, you are hardly a person to be trusted…especially when the info is lacking substance. All in all, its mainly the people here I enjoy the most.
Peace

Yes.. Peace of Mind... that is probably the root of my addiction. And it's ironic.. because by the nature of the changes in conscious awareness... it's only natural that the feeling of oneness with those souls at Avalon is proving such a draw. It feels real and it feels worthwhile. How could connecting with people who are searching for internal truth at a deep and loving and spiritual level, not be addictive.. when that is the path I have been following all my life (and wondering why no one else got it ?!) lol.
the aliens and doom and gloom holds its fascination. But as you say, none of it is really provable and most seems flaky. All is subject to editorial bias from those providing the information.
But we can't edit the heart. If we are true to ourselves then what is there is there. And that's where the resonance is occurring. People resonating with people who are not shamming, scamming, leading, scheming, telling, proving, schooling.
Something much more wonderful is going on. Yes count me in for that. Count me in for late nights connecting with other souls and effort of the heart, giving and loving and receiving and resolving duality.
