MBT shoes can change the way most of us use our muscles as well as reduce shock forces to the entire skeletal system. Masai Barefoot Technology makes all surfaces like walking in sand. Unlike most conventional training shoes that only support and cushion your feet, the unique lever spring action of MBT's challenge the core strengthening muscles to be more active. This creates good posture and increases shock absorption for all the joints.

In essence MBT is a redesign of shoes to cause the user to have to balance while they walk.

Training with MBT improves: Coordination, Core Stability, Power & Speed, Running Style, Endurance, Flexibility, Recovery and Injury Prevention. Performing on a high level needs to balance all of your abilities. MBT makes training more effective, challenging and gentle to your spine. Click here to book a fitting and see the range of styles.

MBT: buy for Medical & Therapy
MBT For treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of: Back, hip, leg and feet problems, Joint, muscle, ligament and tendon injuries, Therapy resistance. GPs, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and alexander technique teachers recommend the use of MBTs to successfully help prevent and treat injuries.

Through the biomechanical function of MBT, the muscles, joints and spine begin to function in an anatomically correct manner. The postural muscles are toned up, joint wear is reduced, and with it pain.

Wearing MBT can help Muscle Toning, Core Stability, Weight Reduction and Improved Posture.

Developed to cure back and joint problems, MBTs help to strengthen and tone the body, improve sports performance and help people lose inches.

Due to MBT's unique curved layered sole (which is protected by design rights), it lengthens the body into a tall, upright posture and encourages use of neglected muscle groups. When walking or jogging users engage untrained muscles and burn more calories, helping people to tone and to lose weight efficiently. Even while standing the muscles continue working to maintain a centre of balance.

Most muscular and skeletal problems originate from poor posture and faulty gait patterns.

MBT changes a passive, straining gait into an active gait pattern that is gentler on the back and additionally stabilizes the pelvis and the spine.

With every step taken, MBT is therapeutic and simultaneously preventative.

Sketchers have a similar style trainer/sneaker selection out. I think comfortable walking shoes are essential especially on the hard concrete/tarmac/asphalt pavements that don't have any 'give' when you walk and with ridiculous fashion shoes, poor posture and poor strides but personally I'm not comfortable with the 'rocking' motion on this type of curved sole, it makes you feel like you're falling forwards especially when going downstairs but it's probably just adapting the way you walk to balance better. I wear my dance trainers for walking because they're better structured for my arches and have add a spring to the step, which helps remove pressure from the knees/ankles when walking. However, regardless of the shoes I'm wearing, I always try to put most of the pressure on the thighs and exercise the body in general when walking (without swinging my arms though ;) ).

I purchased the Chung Shi which is similar. I love the way it helps me hold correct posture. Have to adapt to the rocking motion which makes me feel as if I am dancing while wallking :-)

I personnally got myself two pair of them and wear them constantly.
I absolutely love them . They are extremely comfortable
and I am finding them of great help regarding blood circulation .
I noticed water retention decreasing as all parts of my legs are
continuously being exercised.

Okay, that's a good testimony- will give them another try:original:

I tried running in them and they just felt really heavy.

I could use something comfortable for work as my job requires standing and moving around a lot. It's a job that with the right pair of shoes, could be beneficial to my health as it would keep me moving around a lot, hopefully aiding in weight loss or muscle tone.

I have sneakers with special insoles that work for now. I have less back pain when I use them and a better posture. Better posture = more confidence.

Actually, I've been using Vibram Five fingers.
http://www.amazon.com/Vibram-FiveFingers-Classic-Womens/dp/B002IAW8XC

They're very expensive, but completely worth it. I got into running a few months back and was using sneakers, getting nasty shin splints and my back was killing me. Read an article online about humans being naturally tailored to running barefoot, and sneakers were actually causing the problems. Vibram's Five Fingers are the closest thing to running/walking barefoot, and I love them. Since running in them, I've cleared up my back and shin problems, straightened my posture, and used muscles in my foot that I never realized I had. Plus, I get tons of strangers stopping me to ask questions. Give it a shot if you want to increase your strength and agility.

Hi Eleni yes I understand ..If you watch the vid I posted you'll see that they are not meant to be running with if you train . You would rather do very quich steps with them .
If you just wear them however and walk at a normal pace with them I have been finding
them really confortable . Feels like walking on air cushions .
My blood circulation has improved highly since I wear them as well as the toning of my muscles.

Love for you

I'd be into this for helping with posture and scoliosis if I weren't so broke

anywhere to get something similar on the cheap? :das:

I was advised to go and try them in a shop for correct size and then to order them on Ebay .
They are then much more affordable .
Make sure you get authentic MBTs though as some are counterfeited.
I was told for europe that german and english retailers can be trusted in general.

My chung shi shoes were one of my best investments. Great for posture.

Rowing and weight lifting (safely) are also great for posture and spinal alignment.

The Egoscue method also worked for me.
