Excellent group concept.
Spoken language seems to lose it's footing more everyday as music and art
truly become the ones in the driver's seat of consciousness. YA!

White lotus star
but art...it is something,
i really appreciate,
and, love it, a lot more
art is, the real eXpression
of how one moves with their essence,
their own, and, sometimes,
the essences of a task companions,
who shows up, right out of the ethers,
and, separate, or all together,
through all the assortment of mediums,
that are present,
they are added, blended, and, move together,
and, when they finally come to arrrange themselves,
on what was, originally,
nothing more, than, a blank canvas/or slate,
whatever was not,
in the beginning,
all comes together, in the end ...
the alpha creates the omega
there is nothing more fascinating,
than watching an aritisan create,
and, then, looking at a painting,
and, wondering,
just what went through the mind
and heart of all of its creators
so, much more than just a simple stroke
this painting up of the world,
with your assortment of eXpressions
is what makes,
the reflection of your inside worlds
cascade to the outside,
and, the shining you put out to the rest of us,
is the gift of a presence,
that is ageless, and, timeless,
and, lasts for an eternity
for to do that, is to create a master_piece,
with all the assortment of pieces you can gather ...
bringing them all in, and, creating a wholeness that lasts
be a piece of peace

http://www.davidmacaluso.com/images/large/burningMonk.jpg
Burning Monk was inspired by a 1963 event in which a Buddhist monk self-immolated to protest the mistreatment of Buddhists by the government of South Vietnam. Today, the turmoil surrounding Tibet, the recent mass protests by monks in Myanmar, a lingering war in Iraq that has been compared (rightly or wrongly) to Vietnam, invests Burning Monk with an eerie pertinence. But politics in Burning Monk is less the theme than the subtext for a broader spiritual metaphor.

I'm impressed with how creative all of your works are. I typically do 2-D work the old fashioned way (oil, chalk, charcoal, etc). Sadly, I'm just now coming up to present time technologically, so I'll have to share at a later time. It's good to know that the arts will go on.

But Usaine Bolt is a cheater, tell me what you want.
In 2000 everyone believed that Marion Jones is a super-human and now she's in prison.
If Jamaica would have the same Anti-Doping controls as other countries no gold medal would have gone to Jamaica.
Look what happened to Greece and Bulgaria, and even to the USA.
Sorry for that.

No problem.
It is quite understandable given the times that he has posted that many would think that he is taking drugs. Personally, I think his feats are quite phenomenal, but I don't really take Track and Field that seriously as I have lost faith in the Anti-Doping Programs controlled by the governing bodies.
That said, I still it would be prudent to establish his guilt through evidence first before distributing accusations. Bolt is worshiped like a God here, I do hope for his sake and the entire nation that he is clean.
But we shall see what we shall see.

You're right Andre.
But everyone involved in track and field says that.
The 4th of the Olympic Iron Man said: "the 100m competition was a big hoax!"
Look at Lance Armstrong,
he never got caught in the act but everyone knows that he cheated.
And after he announced his comeback for the next Tour de France,
all newspapers headlined: "An EPOchal regress in the battle against Doping!"

The water rat is a avid collector/horder of things and thats me! These include vintage toys, crystals, old books etc and i love to collect money but never seem to keep a large collection:lol3: For along time i had a need to own a crystal skull, it took about 16years but i obtained one. On some occasions I have thought of selling it on - but when i hold it and look into its eyes, I feel sadness so keep it. There is a pic of skull and his mates in my album.
My name number adds up to a number 8! For at least the last 4 years I kept seeing the number 7 everywhere - never worked out what it meant.
I think my coloured text is eye catching!:naughty:

Is this thread only to post "positive" art?
Or is it also allowed to post art with serious topics?
Hey Lear,
I try to hold the viewer's eye by giving it something to look at, until the mind kicks in, forms thoughts, and derives meaning. As a painter, I'm constantly divided about how much of the underlying idea of a painting needs to be explained to the viewer for the viewer to "get it". In the end though, the art always gets filtered through the viewer's consciousness, and "positive", "negative", "bad", "good", "serious or not" (in short, "meaning") is always the province of the viewer's mind. Art like beauty is subjective.
I'm not sure whether or not the following quote from my "Mindsnapper" series (see "Burning Monk" early up in the thread) will shed some light on the thoughts behind my work, but I'd like to share it with you:
"Mindsnapper Series is a group of paintings comprising a broad range of influences. The overarching theme is that human consciousness is both a progenitor and a product of local and global events; and that this "internal" and "external" force, respectively, are distinct vital systems of a single, universal organism. Mindsnapper reaches toward the prospect of an emerging civilization-mode rooted in this "universal" perception-- one largely powered by light-based energy. Here the concept of "illumination" is approached, both from a consciousness and a materials perspective. "

Standing 6ft x 4ft, Giant-Slayer is a painting derived from the fifteenth century bronze sculpture of David by Donatello. In Giant-Slayer, David has been transformed into a pictogram, whose torso and white head hover in the mists, at the apex of a pyramidal composition. Emerging from the spacial blackness of David's mythic figure is a wave-pattern that wraps around the mammoth head of the slain Goliath. The wave-pattern references the electromagnetic spectrum, whose multiple radiation frequencies include a small segment that's detectable to the naked eye as visible light-- which gives rise to our visual world of forms. Embedded within this radiation lasso, Goliath's head is painted with a relatively true likeness to his actual head in Donatello's renaissance masterpiece. Here the representational head serves a duel metaphor. On a material plane, it depicts a physical world, and the old, "institutional" guard; and-- in contrast to light-- recalls a climate of non-renewable energy modalities and their associated power structures and Geo-political frameworks. On a spiritual plane, the massive, illusionistic head embodies a world of Maya or illusion; as well as the psychological conditions that contribute to separation, conflict and chaos. Through the language of Giant-Slayer, the traditional story of David and Goliath is meant not to be subverted or its essence debased, but rather to extend its narrative relevance into the dawn of the 21st Century.

Most of you know what an Ent is,
from the Tolkien trilogy
I do a lot of hiking here in the PNW
and as such I go to a lot of unusual places,
in virtually mythological deep forest and high mountains.
Often, natural spirits abound and the older Trees
will talk to you.
Most are quite friendly,
but sometimes you run into a fierce Ent.
This one is about a 700 year old Cedar Ent
near Mt Baker, my avatar.
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w174/elvis-boletus/ent1-1.jpg
edit
and so Nature reveals an imposing and scary spirit within the Cedar Ent,
with the reverse coloration image.
This may seem to be a fearsome and even a diabolical figure of darkness,
but on the contrary,
the Ent merely reflects the Absolute Fierceness of Nature itself,
and still exists in absolute symbiosis with the Forest creatures and plants,
and stands like a Forest God in all presences.

Hi! I think it was an inspired idea to set up this group. I paint often and have some works I would love to share - but I don't know how to bring my pictures into an electric format so I can post them. Any ideas please? Peace, passion and prosperity.
Hi Astropsyche - first off you will need to scan your pictures into the P.C. and then follow eXchanger's help.
Or photograph them digitally...

the following video is of a recent painting of mine being created. containing some audio of david icke. this "chorus" accompanies the emergence on paper of a populous "iconic" image. while not advocacy, this is more analysis through art. an combination of mainstream and non-mainstream flavors into an audio-visual stew. which, if nothing else, was a fun exercise. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fpLUR_NTbg

I would like to share with you the works of Andrew Gonzales (http://www.sublimatrix.com/html/paintings.html#).
He described his work:
"Feeling the need to contribute transformative images of beauty to the collective imagination, my imagery would develop an implicit antithesis to H. R. Giger's artwork. I felt driven to show in my work the liberation of the body and soul out of the dark depths of decay and perverse eroticism. By sublimating the erotic towards an angelic sensuality and by using ascension and rebirth symbolism, a sacred eros would emerge as the predominant theme of my work."
The attachments included are paintings Yeamanja & Unio Mystica. See his website for more wonderful visionary art.
What a beautiful thread! Artists, please keep posting your creations. They are wonderful.

A Balanced Heart
Chesmayne
10-06-2008, 12:56 AM
ART - just thought I'd add my two cents.......
http://www.chesmayne.info
01 A skill or knack, a method of doing a thing especially if it is difficult - studied action - artificiality in behaviour. “The beauty of nature exceeds all art” - G. Bredero. ‘Liberal arts’, the ‘7 liberal arts’ and ‘artes liberales’. Trivium: grammar, rhetoric and logic (dialectic). Quadrivium: music, arithmetic, geometry and astronomy. Sometimes portrayed as a wheel resting on an encyclopedia (the circle of knowledge). Quadrivium: arithmetic, geometry, music and astronomy along with the Trivium constitute the Seven Liberal Arts. 20+ paintings are titled ‘Checkmate’.
“Art is meant to disturb, science reassures”.
02 Artful: crafty, cunning, tricky (tricky-dicky). Skillful in adapting means to ends - ingenious.
03 Artist: one who exhibits art in his/her work, or makes an art of his/her employment. An artist has to have lived!
“You can calculate the worth of a wo/man by the number of h/hes enemies, and the importance of a work of art by the harm that is spoken of it”.
“The artist must be in his work as God is in creation, invisible and all-powerful; one must sense him/her everywhere but never see him/her”.
“Why life? We live to execute a properly conceived life plan whereby each human being becomes an artistic genius. The Light’s knowledge and love are the paint and the inspiration that we, God’s little brushes, apply to earth’s giant canvas, allowing each of us to add our few, unique brush strokes to God’s Grand Painting of Life.” Michael Kelley.
04 Artist, Artisan are persons having superior skill or ability, or capable of a superior kind of workmanship. An artist is a person engaged in some type of fine art. An artisan is engaged in a manual enterprise.
05 Artiste: an artist especially an actor, dancer, or other public performer - thespian.
06 Artistic: aesthetically excellent or admirable - stormy, emotional, and capricious, as temperament or behaviour popularly ascribed to artists. Chess has been used by many artists in courtly, family and group portraitures and amongst these have been Lucas van Leyden, Henri Matisse and John Singer Sargent. Chess themes have also been used in abstract art, illuminated manuscripts, sculptures, mosaics, tapestries and book-plates ie, Titian’s masterpiece ‘Rest on the Flight into Egypt’, a 16th century painting, measuring 25” x 18” and set in an elaborate frame showing Mary cradling the baby Jesus during a rest as they flee into Egypt from KI Herod’s law, with Joseph looking on (value estimated to be around five million pounds). Craft or skill. Workers in wood/carpenter (Scotland: wright), trade of Joseph and Jesus.
Lucas van Leyden was a pioneer of the Netherlandish genre tradition, as witness his ‘Chess Players’ [Staatliche Museen, Berlin] which actually represents a variant game called ‘Courier’ - and his Card Players [Wilton House, Wiltshire], while his celebrated ‘Last Judgement’ triptych [Lakenhal Museum, Leiden, 1526-7] shows the heights to which he could rise as a religious painter. It eloquently displays his vivid imaginative powers, his marvelous skill as a colourist and his deft and fluid brushwork.
Source: http://www.kfki.hu/~arthp/bio/l/lucas/biograph.html
07 Artists must be sacrificed to their art. Like bees, they must put their lives into the sting they give.
08 Artists who have included chess in their work: Daumier, Bill Jacklin, Paul Klee, Kandinsky, Juan Gris, Max Ernst, Escher, Barry Martin and Lorraine Gill (whose exhibition in February 1997 featured chess and mind sports). All include chess motifs in their works. Marcel Duchamp painted pictures of chess players.
‘Art’ depicts the human quest for self-knowledge (knowledge of the gods) and the attempt to portray or magically control the forces that rule life. Bas-reliefs of the victories of Assyrian KIs express an urgent desire to render their local glory immortal. In Greece and Rome sculptors like Phidias moulded stone into god-shapes in which men saw themselves. For a millennium all art was controlled by the Church. Not until the Renaissance did Giotto, Masagna, Dante, Boccaccio and Aristo again dare to express the old pagan themes. Botticelli, Leonardo, Michelangelo and others drew on Classical myth and Breughel and Vermeer began to celebrate everyday life and material wealth. Caravaggio, Bernini and other baroque masters drew on it. From Dante, Chaucer and Shakespeare to Blake, Joyce and Yeats - from medieval troubadours to Berlioz and Wagner - all are one in that myth inspires them. Without myth no artist works. The art of myth is owned by nobody, but is expressed by all with heart. Education and refinement are the decoration of the soul, making a gross mind into a spiritual work of art, the highest intellectual achievement.
“Art is the imposing of a pattern on experience, and aesthetic enjoyment is recognition of the pattern”.
Saraswati (India): goddess of the arts - literature, poetry, song, music and belles lettres (the finer or more elegant forms of literature regarded as the finest art). She is seen in paintings smiling happily, dressed in her gold-embroidered sari, holding a book, symbol of scholarship and writing, in one hand, and the vina, a stringed instrument in the other. She rides a swan, symbolizing that she is in control of her passions, which is a condition for the success of any artistic or literary endeavour. She is the goddess of speech and eloquence (polished language) and shown sitting on a lotus signifying meditation, lucidity of mind and clarity of expression or in the company of the peacock, the Indian royal bird so admired for its beauty. Her swan floats on a pond as smooth as a telescope mirror, reflecting her and signifying the serenity of mind necessary for clarity of language. She is sometimes shown with vina and hymnbook, rosary and lotus or carrying the vidya (emblem of knowledge) and a vessel of ambrosia and wears the moon in her crown. In Japan she is known as Benten.
“A thing of beauty is a joy for ever; its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness”.
Beauty of Chess: “A good chess move is the expression of creativity. If the beautiful were not in us, how would we ever recognize it?”

Hi there, the image below was created randomly with Chaoscope - free rendering software.
I have called it "Wizard". It was created by altering alide bars to mould a cloud of colour and pixels. When i had finished i thought it looked like a glass but closer inpsection revealed a bearded figure stood inside!
I have placed a few more images in my gallery which show strange humanoid figures, faces and also - what looks like a grey wearing a robe! All created randomley using this free software. Enjoy.

Here's one I just finished last night:
http://www.projectavalon.net/forum/picture.php?albumid=165&pictureid=3002
This is a conceptualization of consciousness in the sense of emotional energetic manifestation of thought through the chakras. In essence, all of our chakras are a representations of the dynamic emotional & intellectual energies that our consciousness reacts & and manipulates.
In a way the chakras are a receptor and transmitter in a sense, just as our eyes receive information and give information outwardly as well. So in a sense, the chakras together create one vessel of consciousness that perceives and reacts to it's environment. All of them together create a window of perspective. A unique conscious perspective can also fall into the category of a soul, and the "eyes are a window to the soul" some would say...
Projecting yourself means projecting your astral or etheric body, which is comprised of those same energies. So that collaborative point of consciousness is what "travels" even when you are projected through someone else's memory of you in their mind or "astrally" traveling somewhere. Like the saying goes, where ever you go, there you are...watching you.
Here's a link to a larger version too: HERE (http://anacrime.deviantart.com/art/Projected-Identity-99992142)

Some of the art in here is just wonderful...
Here's one of a series of many from the recurring thing/vision I am shown (for past 3 years) of the earth covered to mountain tops with water / red water/ red land .. and a golden crystal pathway leading up to another realm..
(I hasten to add, am no artist, had never done any art prior to this, but was magically helped directly by Spirit!)

I call this one "Bubbles". I do large format fractals averaging 7' x 4' at 300dpi rendering. This one is kind of small at 5'x3'.

Cool thread :original: Some absolutely beautiful art here.
Here's a drawing my daughters (5yo's) and I did. We just used felt pens and paper - they did a bit, I did a bit and so on until the page was filled.
I call it "flowers of manifestation" :)
