View Full Version : Got Curious about my new chipped credit card

I thought I might have lost my credit card... so I called it in missing, turns out my wallet was in my sock drawer. Mystery solved... but anyway I got my credit card in the mail yesterday and it has a CHIP in it. And the chip tracelines look like a circle with a bunch of lines in it...
possibly symbolizing the Globe.

I am just curious if this chip is used for anything else. Not that it really matters... maybe I will get a tinfoil hat for my wallet.

Hi OceanWinds, thanks for bringing up this important topic! I agree with Icke, if we resist only one thing, let it be the chip!!

Patti, thanks for the anti-chip link... I'm bookmarking that one for later... but I really want one of those t-shirts -- "no verichip inside" -- perfect!!! :D

So much talking about chips made me hungry now :biggrin2: Fish'n Chips anyone??? :biggrin2:

Yeah let's have some fish - just for the halibut !!!
no chips !!!

Why when i was in england,
did they think, having halibut "deep fried" was weird ?

in canada, most fish 'n chip stores,
have "halibut"

thanks

i googled 'how to disable RFID chips' and found that the hammer takes care of most of those devices. i just took care of my passport about 3 minutes ago. :lightsabre:

Can you still use your passport without the chip?
We have our Driver license chipped here in AZ. Big Brother will not give us highway funding if we don't.

Best Halibut I've ever had in my life: Price Rupert BC mmmmmmmmmm eh

all of the articles i read, which were about 5, stated that your passport is still valid and can be used.

I dunno if this is exactly EMP resistant (the purpose of a faraday cage) ... but it might be more along the lines of what you're thinking:

lol I recently renewed my passport also...and along with it got a new passport card. both RFID chipped. I suppose I'll have to take care of them now too

the back cover of my passport has a picture of the moon and a satellite, with the earth behind them. hm.

A few months back I bought a wallet and passport cover from Difr Wear and I highly recommend them.
Tested them myself as well and they passed.

Decent pricing and excellent quality produt.
And they offer a non-web based way to pay for those extra diligent peeps out there.

Vegan alert: the outer layer is leather; very strong leather smell.
Had to air mine out for a week or so before I could hang with it.

Has anyone tried hammering their CC and will it still work? I am planning on canceling my CC when they force me to use the chip, same with my bank card. I've had letters from my bank and CC company stating they are switching to them soon. Also here in BC we are going to be getting "Enchanced" drivers licenses soon, or so I've heard. No more DL for me. :bleh:

your passport might still be legally 'valid' but id expect to get hassled for a few hours anyway, broken chips, very suspicious right

Can you not buy a device that renders the chip useless? I'm sure I read that somewhere!

my mate took the (RFID?) chip out of his debit card and it still works lol and people accept it. he took it apart and it does seem to be a transmitting rfid chip. remember on the news when people wondered what it was for and that it didnt seem to be for anything since you could still swipe. well now we know. i think when polaced in the machine it recharges in some manner. pets being chipped also rfid i think. can anyone disprove me !?

Please, Dear People...

Stop putting up More mice on the forum..
Each day... there are More mice suffering with dental problems... vigorously brushing... endlessly...

Enough suffering in the world already.
Once you put them on the internet... they are here to stay for quite a long time.... at least another 500 days or so.

I learned recently about the black bar on the back of a credit card, that is swiped when you make a transaction, it reads your 3 digit country code, the number of generations your family has been a citizen, your SSN and your area code, perhaps not in that order, I'd have to check my notes for the exact number of digits and their order.... everything you purchase is tracked as well as your location. Oh, and I wish to ask others to please refrain from casual conversation & comments... it turns the thread into junk talk, ya think? :winksmiley02:
