This is a good basic survival guide and provides info on all the essentials you will need and attempts to prioritize the importance of each subject.

An obvious source of alternative fuel is wood.
So much good potential fuel goes to landfill from overflowing skips.
Most people with a skip in their driveways are pleased to have you raid it for old timber because they have more room for new junk.
A chainsaw or even a bow saw and an axe or two and a corner to store your free fuel and at least - if you've a fireplace - you'll stay warm for a while.

thank you soo much!! i'd like to add to that list!.. u can MAGNESIUM STICKS to make fire easily and sodium tablets or sumthing to purify water!!
a good book by the way "back to basics" as i've heard.. and still have to buy it myself
love to all!:thumb_yello:
Why not check out the resources list at the top of the page!
There is a pdf survival manual, and a free energy guide.
I already posted the solar cooker (http://solarcooking.org:80/plans/funnel.htm) which works well.
Decathlon do dehydrated foods (http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/dehydrated-meals-10303570/) (expensive) for climbers etc. Check for GM content. Costco also do meals in packs, but no indication of organic/GM sources.
If someone is a member of a warehouse club like this, please share with relatives or friends and split the cost.
Remember - back gardens were always supposed to be 'out-of-view' veggie gardens - not botanical wonderlands! Dig a bit up!

You will need a good knife, fire lighting equipment an army flint.
There are many books around today a good one is the sas survival book only tiny you can pop in your pocket.
Shows plants for healing, what you can eat etc.
Food will be scarce you will have to go back to basics it will be hard for some.
get experiences from the older generation those of us who have been through wars they have good tips.
Wear clothes in layers to keep warm!
As possible a weapon of sorts maybe sling shot! because although i am not a violent person it will be the the survival of the fittest or pure strength.

I have bought nearly all of my equipment from ebay. All is brand new of course as you dont want it failing. I bought 10 nbc suits (nuclear bio chemicle suite for £30, all brand new, army issue and still seals in there orginal vacuum packs. I have bought my whole survival kit pretty much from ebay. Even down to a 18 man tent just in case we have to be on the move.
I would recommend getting a dog of a guarding breed.I have 3 which i will also breed from. They are of the guarding and hunting breed so they can help with the hunting of food and protection.
I know i am looking at this worse case, but Chance favour's the prepared mind'

Hi, its my first post as I think I may have something to contribute here.
If you're thinking about the first aid kits I would recommend adding some MMS from Jim Humble as it is so effective against a range of problems. This is also available in the UK and I can testify to its effectiveness.

*Medical Supplys.
Themost important aspect of medicine in a Survival Context is to keep things clean, and to calm pain.
Thyme, contain's Thymol (ie listerine) and can be used to medicate bandages.
Garlic contains Allicin a powerful Anti-biotic and phytoncide an anti-fungal compound.
Lettuce Milk or Lactucarium (from the flowering stems of Lettuce) can be used to control pain.
Vodka, Cheap & Versitile.
Do all daisy's contain Lactucarium, do all onions produce similer Allicin type compounds? Why? How? if you have some sort of erh... rudimentary botanical explaination for how this works, I would be interested to read about it

Theives Blend is a very good antibiotic. It was used by theieves in France during a period of plague. They robbed a lot of the dieing and dead victims of the plague without becoming unwell themselves.
Its completely herbal, but I do not know of any UK shops which sell it. It can be bought from the USA, but this is not a solution for those who want to avoid mail order.

Hi Merk.
I had a mechanic friend who used to live next door and at that time I was at the height of enthusiasm for the current goings on with the mass disclosure phenomenon. I had been brought to the understanding of free energy whilst doing some research into planet x on yowusa.com, this eventually led to my discovery of the Joe-Cell and Browns Gas. So with the exciting prospect of getting to work and anywhere in the uk for only £11 a month (water bill - Severn Trent/Corporate Scum) and make good of the information, I passed it on to somebody who could make it happen. Suffice to say little happened due to the lack of communication as shortly after I handed the blueprints for the Joe-Cell over he moved away. I still have his number so I can chase this up.
Have you seen the developments of the Moe-Joe Cell recently:

Hiya all, im new here.
Supose im quitelucky as i'v been hunting fishing and outdoors my whole life so I have most things.
I would recomend getting a book on trees so you can learn about the different timbers that are used in different ways. Some for making tools some for a hot fire some timber for a long burn. i.e. You can tap the silver birch for the rising sap in spring " dont forget to plug the whole after".
The use of trees shouldnt be underestemated.
See, somtimes you dont want a fire that burns to bright and that will create attention but will keep you warm !!
If this crazy fools get away with this, a plan is vital. If you get pushed out of your homes and get forced into the hills/woods, you dont want to plant a garden in a block!! You should plant in random areas. So you can walk and gather rather than having a plot wich need alot of light and its easy to spot from the sky.
"sorry for my spelling "
Sharp knife " vital "
Small axe
Large axe
flint
tent
good boots
lots of socks
Talk powder
modern rucksack
flasks
Plastic containers/bags
Dont forget you might need to carry it all !!
crossbow/bow is easy to get for anyone.
i'll leave it there for the moment..
Hope somthing helped a bit
Kindest Regards

As good as I'm an Automotive engineer with a physics / Acoustic background. I'd like to have a go so I could show people at work!!! If I still have time that is ;) 99.9% of engineers will say it can't be done! They all think I'm nuts when I say you can run it off water. I'd like to find out!

Hi thumb_yellow,
You seem to have quite an extensive list for a survival package. Seems more like things to take on your hols! :)
I, during my brief life on this earth, have got to know many people who live 'on the road' and have learned quite a bit from them. You can put everything you need on your back (I did when I was younger and travelled Europe). I would consider buying a bicycle and figure out ways to keep a light load.
Things like gas masks are only useful if you have a large store of filters, oxygen tanks etc. If you need to move around the UK to keep one step ahead, the one step ahead is better than any gas mask. If you need a gas mask you are only prolonging your own death.
The most important thing you will need is knowledge. Knowledge of which plants serve as food, even water. Knowledge of how to kill a rabbit, pheasant etc. Knowledge of the countryside and how it works. Basically, knowledge of what is going on around you.
I'm sure you would at least have some plan of action, places in the country to where you would escape to. If you're able to, make a pre-run of how you will act in the case of an emergency, hiding secret chachês of equipment or resources on your 'emergency' trail.
Also consider getting a dog. A dog is relatively low maintenance and is good for an early warning system as their sense of smell and audition are heightened. They will also guard you when you are resting / sleeping and warn you of predators.
I suppose I'm lucky as I got away to Brazil, which isn't under any direct threat (until the US wants to invade Venezuela, I suppose) but even then I have my escape route. I'll get off to the farm. :)
Best regards,
Steve

Greetings!
For basic information on survival issues, storing food, monetary issues....the Ramtha people have been on top of this for years. I am not a devotee, but Ramtha has been talking about earth changes/society changes for over two decades and the Ramtha folk have an intentional community in Washington State. For those that are not followers, there still is a lot of good info that has been made available....
If you go to "www.beyondtheordinary.net"...which is a radio show...and free, you can go into the archives. There are shows on basic survival skills which are worth a listen. Each show is about an hour long and will give you information that you may need especially on food storage and survival.
Things I can think of right off the bat..having been through several hurricanes, a few earthquakes and lots of ice storms....think of what you would need if you were to go camping (and then some). If you can afford a generator, get one. If you can afford a small camping stove, invest in one.
1. Potable drinking water. You can't survive without water. Get a good water filter that will filter out all water---including puddle water if needed. Store water.
2. Get tins of food. While having survival food pouches is ideal, most of us may be past that time frame. Just get tins of food (beans, corn) filling food and make sure you have a can opener, too. Store them carefully. Most tinned foods last a few years.
3. Get a Freeplay radio...one that you can crank and use without batteries.
4. Get a free torch...similar to above.
5. Stock up on medicines...if you or if you have elderly parents/relatives who are with you they should have three months meds on hand. Think of the needs of those in your familiy that are infirmed. What will they need?
6. Stock up on basic needed items. Go to Savers or some other shop to get
simple bottles of shampoo, soap, laundry soap, toothpaste, basic first-aid items. You don't have to buy expensive iitems. It won't matter if you are using Paul Mitchell or Savers brand when there is an emergency. You will be worrying about other things.
7. Always make sure that your car is filled with petrol if you have to make a quick exit. If you do not have a car, network with friends and have a plan of exit with them.
8. Don't forget food/meds if your pet needs them. Do not forget your animal friends.
9. Pack a suitcase with necessities including two changes of clothing, copies of your license, marriage and birth certificates, passports and other important documents. Transfer your family photos to CDs (if you can) and put those in that suitcase and keep it packed and ready. Or just put the things that are the most important for you to take---in that suitcase. This is just something to have for any sort of emergency. Keep this suitcase in a place where you can just grab and go.
10. Cash on hand (though it may not be of value.) If there is a crisis, no ATMs will be working. So, keep bills and coins on hand somewhere safe. Get silver if you can and keep that on hand, too.
11. Matches. You will need matches to build fires.
12. Wood. Make sure you have wood to burn if you are hunkering down in your house.
13. If you can, purchase one or two good sets of warm underclothing ("longjohns") and good wool gloves, socks and a wool hat. If you can keep your hands, feet and head warm, you don't feel the cold as much.
14. Warm blankets and/or warm sleeping bags and a tent (if you should have to leave your house). Warm blankets are needed even in the house during the winter should the power go out.
15. Keep some good, positive, affirmative books on hand...you will need to remember that you can change your experience even when it looks like everything is falling apart. I probably would have a copy of SCIENCE OF MIND by Ernest Holmes which has some wonderful affirmations and prayers. That's what comes to mind for now anyway.
This is what I have thought of....right off the top of my head.
Above all, it is important to be prepared. Keep things handy and ready. Designate a wardrobe or a space in the house for storage of items.
Hope this helps.......Blessings to all!
Donny

Hi all
I have to agree with Steve A. I have studied and practiced the art of bushcraft for a few years now. I have entered into forests in the uk with nothing more then a knife, water bottle and fire lighting equipment and walked out a week later still quite fit and healthy.
You need to learn certain crafts and learn them well.
1) Water, where are you going to get it, how can you find it, how will you make it safe to drink. Remember, its ok to say carry it but when you realise that a litre of water weighs about a Kilo and that at a minimum you need about 2-3 litres a day under low exersion conditions, thats 3Kg in your pack and thats a lot of needed gear in weight and actually only supplies you for one day. You can drink sea water, urine, rain water etc as long as you know what to do with it and you dont need expensive equipment that will eventually need replacement filters.
2) Food, with the possibillity of no food on the shelves in stores giving you no way to restock, other food must be sought. Learn trapping, fishing and cultivation methods. Keep a book on different plants that are edible in your pack.
3) Shelter, to be honest this is your first priority, you can make a good shelter from most things to protect you from the elements.
A rule of thumb that I teach people to remember how to prioritise is this:
you can live. In an emergency situation, IE lost in a forest by your self..
3 minutes without air
3 hours without shelter
3 days without water
3 weeks without food
Dont wait for it to happen, get out and practise.
If I can be of assistance to anyone with advice or help, pm me.
Be safe, Be good :thumb_yello:

A good knife, dry clothes, a piece string and the sas handbook at least.
Why so little you ask? There will be a huge chance that you will have 2 leave your house and go into hiding. The country, mountains, woods etc. So you only take what you can carry. The rest can be found on route. So it may be best 2 have two different kits, home 'n' away so 2 speak. Try carring a bag of sugar for one mile and you will see what i mean.
And an Analogue CB. They are harder 2 track.:smoke:

Hi everyone,
As you may of heard, the Project Avalon forum is going to be transformed into a subscription based site. I feel for the Camelot team as their work can be costly and they do need a means of support but I do not agree with the subscription.
Camelot does need support and I hope everything works out, they have helped me a great deal and their work is invaluable. But I feel they need to find an alternative form of means and support and not force us to pay a subscription to keep us together. As they said in the announcement "Project Avalon costs almost nothing to host" .
I believed in a free and open enviroment for us to chat and come together, so I will not be paying a subscription and therefore no longer be in contact with this site. Sorry guys but i feel very strongly about this. Anyone that wants to keep contact with me, feel free to sent me an email and i'll add you to my address book. michaelprobert@btinternet.com
