I would say that for the most part, what you get is what you want and are compelled by karmas towards. What you think about is habit, rut, but also premonition being fed to you to prepare you for what is coming. A heads up on the karma about to unfold. The mind does not like change. That said it is also true that our basic expectations have a lot to do with how smoothly life goes or not. Living in a state of constant expectation of something good being done for our souls is a very good thing. Resisting the downward tendencies is a very good thing. What causes the spirit to go up is good what causes it to go down is bad.

I'll admit I woke this morning, went straight to the puter and started looking for signs of calamity. And I found them (lots of economic hubbub in the EU) cause I was looking for them. I'm looking for the solution to the mystery of my life.

There is no solution.
