It is a huge land of opportunity. There are over 140 Million people in that country that are just waiting to move up the ladder. Their government, while corrupt, does desire all the things that the west has.

If the west was to wake up, they would quickly learn that building up Russia and the rest of those areas has the potential to create jobs and drive the economy for dozens of years, plus eliminate poverty for millions.

However, the US knows once China and Russia and India start truly developing, that its own power will be diminished in the world and that is a threat to the NeoCons.
