I'd love to know about books that directly changed people's lives. There's still space on my bookshelf....
Here's five books that changed mine:
1. "Many Lives, Many Masters" - Dr Brian Weiss
This book opened my eyes to past life hypnosis/reincarnation
2. "Behold a Pale Horse" - William Cooper
The truth about the "alien problem" cost Cooper his life, but it changed mine too
3. "You can heal your life" - Louise Hay
This key self-help book changed my life all those years ago...
4. "Conversations with God" - Neale Donald Walsh
As someone who despises all religion, this series about a world beyond religion changed the way i thought
5. "No more secrets, no more lies" - Patricia Cori
The last in the Sirian Revelations series, this book continues to guide me...
Anyone care to add to my list??? I'm seeking knowledge.....

In search of The Miraculous by P.D.Ouspensky. Originaly titled "Fragments Of An Unknown Teaching" until the american publisher changed it. Gurdjieff is refered to cryptically as G. throughout the book.

The Power of Now -- Eckard Tolle
A masterful work, although some found it to be difficult, I guess when you are already au fait with certain concepts it may make it easier. But there wasn't a wasted word in that book.

End Of Days and Lost Book Of Enki - Both by Zecharia Sitchin. Some see Sitchin as a writer of mythology or speculation, but after months of in-depth research suggested by Bob Dean, I find the books to be factual. Also, Talmudd Of Jmmanuel associated with Billy Meier Contact Notes gave me a different understanding that I can accept and live with as opposed to my former beliefs. Thanks for this thread. I'm always looking for new books to add to my growing experience.

Thanks, all the above sound good, I'll check them out. I read Sitchin's "12th Planet" and his research appears so thorough its hard not to believe. I was interested in stuff about the secret government/illuminati, anyone know of anything beyond what William Cooper has written? Colin Wilson wrote a couple of great books "The Occult" and "Beyond the Occult" which seem relevant to some of their practices....

Krishnamuriti - 'Freedom From the known'
At the time, it changed my life knowing that there was at least one sane man out there, and it's a wonderful book that you can re-read over and over.

Celestine Prophecy and 'The Power is Within You' by Louise Hay were the triggers. Bringers of the Dawn, Earth and the Path of Empowerment by Barbara Marciniak really got things going for me!

Dolores Cannon's series of three books "Conversations With Nostrodamus" and the first one of hers that I read, "The Custodians - Beyond Abduction". Then of course there is Zecharia Sitchin's series of "Earth Chronicles" which were the ones that changed my way of thinking forever and opened the way for me to be able to read the Bible and believe that there really was and is a "God". Coupling the information from these books with what I've learned through Projects Camelot and Avalon, it's comforting to know that we are not alone in the universe and that our souls live forever. I'm looking forward to the day when I will know the answers to all the questions that have bothered me for most of my life. For me personally, this day is not too far off. :original:

Thanks to all for the fantastic recommendations....
Out of interest, here are five novels (rather than the metaphysical works referenced in this thread) that changed me:
1. "Stranger in Strange Land" - Robert Heinlen
The greatest ever "science fiction" work. We didn't know what he was writing about then. We do now...
2. "The Moon and Sixpence" - Somerset Maughan
Near perfect writing about the life of the artist Paul Gauguin who left a comfortable existence to follow his heart, which was art. An amazing artist, he died alone and in poverty. But he did what we should all do: follow his heart.
3. "The End of the Affair" - Graham Greene
I re-read Greene regularly to remind myself about how writing should really be. The story of lost love, that society made impossible. The film is perfect too, type "Jealous of the Rain" into youtube and watch a three minute clip and perfect acting. The only film that instantly reduces me to blubber, i don't know why.
4. "Tuesdays with Morrie" - Mitch Albom.
Lovely thoughts about life from a dying old man.
5. "Eleven Minutes" - Paulo Coelho
Can anyone not find something that helps them in the writings of Coelho?

Dr. Greer's book Disclosure is where it all started for me. in a universe filled with life, anything becomes possible. surely there are planets out there ruled by a few while most of the people on that planet have no idea...slave planets if you will. so why not ours? surely there are planets out there who's entire populations are being lied to about technology, science, physics, and the nature of life. so why not ours? it should be fairly easy to see where i'm going here. after reading this book, i realized that anything and everything is possible.

The Power of Now -- Eckard Tolle
A masterful work, although some found it to be difficult, I guess when you are already au fait with certain concepts it may make it easier. But there wasn't a wasted word in that book.
Oh and Huckelberry Finn
Did you know that the editorial of Eckard Tolle went to Bildererg 2008 before his leap into fame in oprha with "a new world"?

Here's my youtube reference to Graham Greene's "The end of the affair"...great writing, spiritual in its own way, written during the war when consciousness was starting to rise as was indicated by the Mayan calendar...the lovers here did not find a happy ending....should we follow our heart as we head towards 2012 and the changes that are inevitable? Of course.

I'm not picking a book that 'changed my life', but I do want to tell you about the book I just finished reading this morning. I liked and would recommend reading.
"Crossing Over", by John Edward
I've seen his show quite a few times... hearing his story ''behind the stories' was very interesting. He talks about the 20-60-20 rule of metaphysical beliefs... 20% are firm believers... 60% are in the middle, can accept much, but also don't follow too closely, and the other 20% are absolute non believers.
After 22 years of helping society understand communications with spirits which have crossed over, John says for the past 5 or 6 years he's decided he wants to become the student instead of being a teacher, and he's studying Astrology. He has a new website here :http://www.johnedward.tv/ where he is offering information from a teacher by the name of Donna.
Hey all,
Discussing UFOs years ago with some guy at a bar which I seem to have known from somewhere. After a bunch of beers I asked this guy (American).. something to the effect why are they here (EBEs)?
He told me nothing more than to read a book of readings of Edgar Casey by some Author. Anyway if I remember correctly (it's been many years) the book was titled The River Sugai or Sugai River. Appx 280-300 pages 14" x 11"?
Anyway near the endof the book Casey had a reading in which someone asked about the destruction of mankind?
Casey, in a trance said, (paraphrased):
We are going to an evolution but also an evolution of world destruction. But their here, above us and will not allow mankind to destroy all mankind on this planet).
---
Yah, well that did it for me -- what are these things and why are they here?
It changed a lot of stuff in my life, including reading most of the Bible and coming to the realization...

I wrote a book about what changed my life, the first part is about some of my life experiences, the second part is a long list of books and websites. Here is the link: 21st Century Practical Spiritual Metaphysic Guide book for Atheist s & Agnostics (http://www.lulu.com/content/632644)
This is a guide book for the individual who has always shied away from all occult subjects, such as religion, magic, astrology, metaphysics, spiritual anything, and for the beginner into all of these subjects who wished to expedite his/her learning with the latest up to date information. It offers leads for the beginner interested in understanding the merger between science and the occult spiritual subjects, and a reference of where to get started in the search for the ultimate truth. This book also provides references of where to find up to date information, based on scientific evidence of what is going on with our planet earth, and what to expect in the coming years leading to December 21, 2012. This book provides scientific and practical ways of understanding the universe; TOOLS to help YOU LIVE life TO ITS FULLEST and with EXCELLENT HEALTH!!!

There are already many good books listed that I have enjoyed, so I thought I would add this jem:
Dune, by Frank Herbert
Fiction, but very well done. A story of humanity in the distant future.
The movie that was done was OK, but the book tells the whole story, and has many parallels to our own world, including the control the PTB can have over it's citizens.

Aristotle - Nichomachean Ethics. I had spent a few teenage years figuring out my philosophy of life/morality/behaviour, read this at 17 and realised someone beat me to it :p
David Icke - The Biggest Secret: The Book That Will Change the World. I read this at 16, connotated tons of it and tried to get others to read it, didn't really work but I started to read conspiracy/alternative science books thereafter.

So good to see so many books I know listed. Books I'd like to know also ...
what book/s had the biggest effect on me?
probably;
Lobsang Rampa "The Hermit"
read this at age 13 or so. (1983) all his books were good for the time they were written.
several good sci fantasy novels during adolesence. "Heleconia Spring" opened my mind to "time" as well as one I cannot recall the name of but the centre of the universe was a large spider. Julian May "Many Coloured Land" don't know if this is spiritual but I loved it
Linda Goodman's "Star Signs" and "Love Signs" her clever and funny writing got me into astrology.
"The Astrologers Handbook" by Sakoian and Acker and any ephimeris..
Later on 1990's. Barbara Hand Clow "The Pleiadian Agenda"
Robert Lawlor "Voices of the First Day - awakening in the aboriginal dreamtime"
there are many books I have read and would like to read.
I would love to read any of the Billy Meier books
they are a bit harder to come by .

oh yes, here's another book that came along at exactly the right time....
Robin Sharma's "The Monk who sold his Ferrari".
I know the book is now over-hyped, but its still well worth a read. An easy, quick read, its about throwing up everything you had in your life and starting again.....which is what i did. The process of change is long and arduous though.....

When I was 14, that is 40 year ago, I suddenly realized that I was thinking in close looped patterns provided by the society I was living in. I went on a quest for different information: zen, Indian yogis, European mysticism and esotorism, New Age types of approach etc. Then got this book in my hand. I red half page and red it again, I only understood it half, but for me it was instantly clear: this man KNOWS. His name was Sri Aurobindo. It is still the same for me today, nothing I have ever read comes for me even close to the information and insight and certainty that this source provides, it is my paradigm and gives a clear perception to what is happening in the world today and events in the last century, including the 2 world wars in with SA and the Mother, his spiritual companion, involved themselves occultly.
Man is a transitional being; he is not final.
The step from man to superman is the next approaching achievement in the Earth's evolution.
It is inevitable because it is at once the intention of the inner Spirit and the logic of Nature's process.
-
A few lines from Savitri, a 24.000 line poem:
O Force-compelled, Fate-driven earth-born race,
O petty adventurers in an infinite world
And prisoners of a dwarf humanity,
How long will you tread the circling tracks of mind
Around your little self and petty things?...
A Seer, a strong Creator, is within,
The immaculate Grandeur broods upon your days,
Almighty powers are shut in Nature's cells.

Dreams, by Olive Schreiner.
At age 12 I came across this book in a rummage sale, it was a tiny leather bound booklet. One of the short stories called The Hunter, gave me some kind of epiphany. It was the story of a hunter who caught a glimpse of a white bird and became obsessed with finding it.
At age 7 I caught a glimpse of a white bird that put me into an altered cosmic state, and I wanted desperately to see it again. In the short story, the hunter is told his bird is called the white bird of truth, and in the end he is able to clutch one of it's feathers as he lays dying. :tears:

Carl Johan Calleman's "The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness"
As a result of the Astralwalker thread, many people know a lot more about the Mayan Calendar now and 2012, but this book tells you much more.
The book clearly shows that there is a divine cosmic plan that has an actual timeline for the evolution of consciousness. This cannot be changed, and as the end times approach we will increasingly "feel" the incoming new light.
The book explains clearly the changing concepts of ego, dominance, and material values as we move into a period of healing and unification of left and right brains, logic and intuition. He does not however appear to envisage major geophysical changes as we reach 2012, just our own awakening as we reach the end of the calendar. The book is packed with interesting info and thought-provoking stuff.
An amazing and important read for anyone interested in 2012 and the end of the Mayan Calendar. It has opened my mind and helped me understand why i am here at this time.

DAVID ICKE - "INFINITE LOVE IS THE ONLY TRUTH - EVERYTHING ELSE IS ILLUSION" (first published 2005)
This book should be mandatory reading for all truth seekers and those seeking to understand the role of consiousness on our lives, health and our physical and spiritual make-up.
In many ways it is a companion book to Calleman's "Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness".
One of the most important sections of the book (though every word is immensely important), is the information on our DNA programming and how this can be "re-programmed" away from the mind control we willing enter into from birth. Consciousness can override the current DNA programming and send its own instructions to the DNA/RNA/brain network.
This book has helped me understand many things and move forwards.
Essential reading: 200 pages, $25 and you will not regret spending the money.

"The Secret History of The World" by Jonathan Black
Published in 2007, this book has reached iconic status already.
It is the leading book on the history of the esoteric writings, the esoteric world, and traces the esoteric tradition back from the beginning of time to the present day, based on the beliefs and writings of the secret societies.
Any student of the esoteric agenda should make the effort to read it, all 550 pages, and as Graham Hancock said of the book, "nothing of this scale and ambition has been attempted since Madam Blavatsky's "the Secret Doctrine".
Every single esoteric influence, people and places, that has affected the direction of the world is covered. Outstanding.

The Two Fat Ladies...an iconic tv show...fondly remembered around the world. Their recipes were taken from another time and tradition...a time when i grew up! I loved the show when Clarissa said "ban all lentils! They make vegetarians randy!!" Tomorrow i will have lentil pie in remembrance!! thanks Dan!
I won't ban the past if it is the Two Fat Ladies!

That is SUCH a good sign!
Get that Pinot Noir bottled. How about an Avalon party later this year? Can we use your place if we bring wine and food?????????
Everyday is a lovely day for me.
Although....I'm re-reading your favourite southern hemisphere book tonight..."On the Beach" - Neville Shute. Graphic desciptions of how the world ends through radiation carried by the wind.....
The end of the world...at your place. Wonderful. We'll go out drinking Pinot Noir. If you haven't read it....its one of the greatest books ever written (1958, believe it or not!). In it Shute explains something that the "smart" George Green-loving sycophants don't realise....the southern hemisphere WILL be affected by Northern Hemisphere neuclear radiation (which George Green maintains won't touch the southern hemisphere because of the wind routes which will keep it north of the equator)...this is because of what he calls the "pressure equator", which moves the equator a little south with the seasons, bringing the winds with it...so the radiation DOES eventually get you.....but leaves you enough time to finish off your stock of Pinot.
Thanks, Nature! I'm coming south!!

piers, you'd be most welcome. I mean it when I've said that I'd love for other Avalonians to visit. I have a stone barn that I have cleaned out and installed a huge fireplace. Its a great venue for a party, and great acoustics (being stone). We have events there, great parties! I would kill the fatted calf ! Whoops!! I forgot that you are vegetarian. I mean I'll murder a few carrots!!! And polish the wine glasses!
Cheers

The Bible (Believable Information Before Leaving Earth) - God(s)(?)
- First as a Child and Ignorant of the Agenda. Then again later, with the King James Version as an Older Man when I finally knew something was up.
History of the Universe from the Big Bang to Black Holes - Steven Hawking
Incredible read and It expanded My Mind in ways I cannot describe with words. Only constructs fit and - Well You know how that goes - LOL...
Couple that with understanding Eleventh Dimensional Quantum Mechanics/Physics and You've got a potent combination.
The Great Quotes - George Seldes
Another incredible read and as I read it before the InternetZ was up and running - It opened My Eyes a heck of a lot. It has ALL the great quotes plus the Bad Ones We now see so prevalently and use Ourselves in Our Posts to show the Mentalism of the Globalist Agenda in how They view and control Us.
The Stand - Steven King
Read It is all I can say to do It true justice. Its prophetic and very insightful as to Us, and how We operate when the Shizzle Dizzzle happens (Humans that is).
The Urantia Book - The Spiritual Heirarchy
I only mention this book as it explains in a way that no other book will - Co-ordinate Representation - The Makeup of the Innner and Outer Creations in arrangement and purpose - The Idea of the Thought Adjuster (The God within - The Sovereign Integral if You will) - The Makeup of the Orders of Life (Mortal, Morontial, Spiritual, Midwayer and many other orders of existence) - The Orders of the Angelic and Powers - The Three Reasons why the Fallen, Fell - Etc. That said I have only scratched It's surface in description.
Now - I don't profess to say that this book is the TRUTH.
The Universal Father/Mother All that Is writing it per say. What I will say is that this is the Spiritual Heirarchy's detail of what They know. They're rooted in the Human Mind System if You will, and govern there as Souls move up.
As You move past the need to be Controlled or "Schooled" - The Spiritual Heirarchy falls away and You move into Christ Consciousness - The Middle Path. This is a Book of the Positive Duality and while beneficial to the Whole and in line with Christ Consciousness - They are the Counter to the Negative, and do not come from the Middle Path.
This is what must be seen if You read the book. That said - Its a good Atlas about alot of the Levels and Agendas being displayed through Polarity and Dualism here in this Reality.
The Book of the Law of One - The Awareness known as Ra
To the uninitiated - Christ Consciousness explained IMO.
Hermes Trimestigus - Hermes Trimestigus
The Snake Brotherhood and how They think. Good reading but You can see the Slant. The Funny thing is - The Slant is still there today - Its just at a different Angle - LOL...
The Biggest Secret - David Icke
Mindblowingly Awesome. This book lays it all out back to Sumer. Perhaps even farther. One thing I should note is that David Icke must be commended. He - At the End of every Chapter - Gives You the references on where He has found the Information in researching the Material. Awesome - This Man is very thorough and I must Admit that I really admire this Guy for His Ballz.
I would say - We are Kindred Spirits.
There are more, and I will add them as I remember ALL that I have read that has CHANGED My Life.
;)

Carmen, you're a star! More to follow....
We could make it an "End of the World" party...or perhaps in keeping with this book thread, a "Now" party, as in Tolle's "Power of Now"....
He once said in his great book that a Buddhist monk had once told him "All i have learned in the twenty years i have been a monk I can sum up in one sentence: All that arises passes away. This I know".
He had accepted the impermanent nature of all things...
So lets make that the party theme.....

I had been struggeling with a torn conscience for a while what with walking away from church and realising that whilst I was in full earnest about my spirituality, they wanted religion.
I had stumbled around for a few years (quite a few) and then came across
David Icke's, The Truth Shall Set You Free.
Brilliant, just what I needed to enable me to finally cut the bonds that tied and not to look back but to grow and grow. I guess that is why I am an avid fan of his, brilliant man.

I want to remind people about a surreal, post-apocalyptic, end-of-the-world book that i have just re-read.
It's "ON THE BEACH" by NEVILLE SHUTE
Written in 1957, it is horrifyingly relevant now. It left me dazed.
The book concerns the aftermath of a nuclear war, when the world slowly dies, latitude by latitude, of radiation sickness, as the radiation dusts sweeps southwards into the southern hemisphere following a devastating war in the northern hemisphere. The absurdity of war, and the stupidity of people that could have changed the outcome.
As i finished the book, i looked around and saw the world slightly differently, as if i was viewing the world through eyes that realised the pointlessness of all the worries we have, day to day, how we all die, eventually, and we should stop being fearful of everything.
I looked at the people on the London Underground, faces etched with worry, can i make this meeting on time?, will my boss fire me?, will my girlfriend leave me? Why the worry? Whats the worst that could happen?
As David Icke once said "Freedom is when you have nothing left to lose"....
Live life now, today....there is no time left. Change, NOW.

Sounds like a great book, and I wonder if it's available as an e-book? I've downloaded my last three books out of the Avalon library, which was handy!
Didn't Janis Joplin also say that in a song called Bobby McGee, "Freedom's just another word for nothin left to lose"

A book which didn't actually change my life but did make me question what was reality, is "Arigo: Surgeon of the Rusty Knife" by John G. Fuller.
Published in 1974, it tells the story of Ze Arigo, a Brazilian peasant who performed surgical operations with nothing more than a pocketknife - producing very little or no bleeding. He diagnosed illnesses and prescribed cures without knowing a thing about pharmacology. The book has many photos of operations being performed and also tells of his persecution by the authorities.
He claimed that he heard voices that told him what to prescribe. His death in a suspicious car accident on January 12th, 1971, made headlines all over Brazil.

Hmmm, looks like I will have to read "On The Beach" again. I read that many many years ago and do remember I couldn't put it down, literally.
Now for those who may be in the position I was 20 years ago, there is a book called, "The 2 Babylons or The Catholic Church Proven to Be the Worship of Baal" written by The Reverand Alexander Hyslop in 1870.
This book was banned, not sure how available it is now but for people struggling with coming out of organised religion, this is a total and amazing eye opener. It is an extensive work and as such, it is not easy reading but definitely a MUST HAVE for any scholar.
