1/15/09 When Hypocrisy Matters

by Anthony Gregory

Only during scandals like these are government officials given a taste of their own medicine, and it is such a bitter taste that the more humane among us might sympathize even with our would-be rulers as their lives and finances become open to inspection and public criticism.

Great article, peaceandlove! The hyprocrisy of politicians goes on in every country, no exemption, it seems. They are all very surprised, even shocked, when it dawns on them that people expect them to follow the laws. Especially when they have been party to hammering out said laws! A shameful charade!

From: Bob Barr, 2008 Presidential Candidate

Dear Friend,

The news that Obama Treasury Secretary designate Timothy Geithner was delinquent on more than $43,000 in taxes is no surprise. Nor is the fact that he had several other errors on past income tax returns.

What IS shocking is the lack of outrage in Washington at the fact that Mr. Geithner is seeking a job as the next man responsible for trillions of our tax dollars. The fact that his past failure to pay more than $43,000 in taxes would clearly disqualify him.

So am I the only one outraged at this?

Where are the Republicans and the media? Why are they giving this man a pass for acts that would clearly have disqualified many earlier nominees?

These are questions I hope you will raise with friends and others who, like you, are concerned about integrity in government.

Call your U.S. Senators and urge them to vote against confirmation of a tax-dodger!

We need integrity in government, not more of the same old corruption that has come from both parties.

In my campaign for the presidency I constantly hammered away at the fact that there's not a dimes worth of difference between the two major parties. That message resonated with many, and I believe there is a solid future for new ideas and new leadership.

Sincerely,

Bob Barr
