Re: Continental Congress 2009

I believe that the outcome of this project will be to organize the American people to withdraw financial support of the government in the form of taxes as a means of creating a peaceful revolution to restore our Constitution and Bill of Rights into operation and begin to take back our country. :cup: :original:

Independence Hall, Philadelphia

Bob Schulz of the We the People Foundation is organizing a Continental Congress to restore the U.S. Constitution.

It will take place November 9 - 22, 2009. The location has not been determined yet.

The location has now been determined. It will be at the Pheasant Run Conference Center in St. Charles, Illinois (28 miles west of Chicago).

National Delegate Elections will be October 10.

Again, this is to restore the Constitution, not change it.

I just noticed that a worldwide broadcast is planned.

I love that thought! :original:

U.S. citizens can vote for delegates to the Congress by mail-in. (Some states also have walk-in voting.) Read the profiles of the nominees for your state, then fill out the voter registration form (you'll need a Notary) and ballot and postmark by October 10.

Scroll down to find your state:

I'm wondering whether the Congress will take place, because they are way behind in funding. But I see the website has added information about Purpose, Format, & Outcomes, with no mention of a possibility of cancellation due to lack of funding. Here is the link:

Alex Jones is not talking about this, and I can't find any support anywhere on the web for this except in the Comments on Infowars.com news articles. Also, they're way behind in funding, with only 2 1/2 weeks to go.

However, results of the election have been posted:

Here is an idea for sharing your ideas about restoring the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Look up your Voting Delegate here:

Click on your state, access your Delegate's email address, and then use the address to communicate with the Delegate:

Re: Continental Congress 2009

Thank-you for this thread and for all of your posts Seashore. What makes this subject interesting is all of the priniciples and concepts...implications and ramifications...connected with the Constitution and Bill of Rights. The documents are really quite short and uninteresting. But this is exactly what is required to get the job done. When the documents are followed...things work extremely well. I really think there is a spiritual component to the Constitution and Bill of Rights. This may sound crazy...but I would be interested to see what a church based on the Constitution and Bill of Rights would look like. Obviously...it would probably not be tax-exempt...which might be just as well. The IRS should not be able to tell preachers what to say, and what not to say from the pulpit. Current events would be discussed in the classes...and during sermons. Just a thought.

I don't think in terms of church anymore, but I love the idea of groups of people getting together to share ideas about current events. If we were to spend the time and effort to do something like that, there would be no problem that together we could not solve.

seashore - I've been following this but not in detail, kind of like peaceandlove's information about Ron Paul. Is there any connection between the two movements? I think there should be, to bring together the numbers of supporters.

Just cannot have too many alternatives IMO :thumb_yello:

You're asking about Ron Paul's supporters and Continental Congress 2009?

Yes, I am. I checked the Continental Congress website, read a few bios of people involved as delegates, including a 99 year old man in Montana who listed his education as Yes. I thought that was just great.

The first two main messages on the Continental Congress 2009 (Nov 11-22) home page:

Our Nation Is Out of Control
Constitutionally, Economically, Ethically & Legally

What Is Continental Congress 2009?
Tradition, Necessity & Legal Process Merge

It just seems to me that Ron Paul is all over that too. I was wondering if there is any connection or overlap between both popular movements. Both just seem restorative in a legal, Constitutional way. They have a lot in common IMO, but they seem separate and isolated from one another.

I don't know...?
