Earth had close encounter with a 40-yard-wide asteroid

An asteriod that passed close to Earth about a week ago....and we here about it now!!? WTF!

Why do you hear about this stuff after the fact? Is it the riots and loss of power that scares the powers that be, or do they just want us dead.
