I'm conducting a test...
I'm trying to figure out how the system works for how many "New Posts" show up for members.
Right now my computer says there are 6 New Posts. Please post how many your computer says there are. Thanks in advance. |
Re: I'm conducting a test...
Is there some member who can help me out with this?

Re: I'm conducting a test...
I just clicked on the "New Posts" link above the forum main section and it said,
"Showing results 1 to 25 of 28. Search took 0.04 seconds." Since I've never used it before, I'm not sure exactly what you were looking for, but that's what I got. |

Seashore,
I think it's the number of posts since you were last logged on. Mine now ways 4 new posts. |

I just got only 12 on my list. I know the New Posts are different from Today's Posts and you get this message for Today's Posts: "The threads below have not been updated since your last visit or since forums have been marked read." What I can't figure out is why on some days, posts that have not been updated since my last visit (I don't mark forums as read) stay there on New Posts for 8 hours or so, even though I log in periodically during the 8 hours, but on other days, like today, they go away from the list. I'm wondering about this because I'm assuming some people only check New Posts each day, and I want my posts to stay there as long as possible, so they have the best chance to be read. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? (I've already private messaged Gareth about this.) |
Re: I'm conducting a test...
I get the same thing. My best guess that it's related to a time zone issue. The results seem erratic, to say the least!
