Yes the chinese are trying to secure their investments for exploiting the mineral resources, acquired in Africa. At pair with US and EU countries. Seems will raise some tensions there. Especially if they will want to plan crops. Imagine what will say the africans when they will see wheat be raising in their land, a thing has been always negated by westerners, which tried to keep them poor and in a continuos famine and to their mercy.

Let's see, maybe chinese will not behave like the other "invaders".

There was another thread about this too -

Africa - Foreign countries buy vast tracts of land, food & biofuels

Who knows. Maybe these new 'investments' in Africa won't be removals. The whole continent was carved up by Europe, let alone what happened with the slave trade and agricultural development in the Americas. The world's first concentration camps were set up by the British, during the Boer Wars.

China's in Sudan with arms deals. Everyone else runs around like king kongs on magic mushrooms, too. Mining is berserk - no oversight (cheaper!). The pattern isn't reassuring to me with this announcement anyway.
