Subscription - Why???

This forum costs approx $5/month in hosting fees. There are no other overheads. All upfront costs were paid by Gatekeeper, the original admin here.
Why the need to go subscription you ask?? Good question, keep asking it!

(I posted this information elsewhere on the forum, but the post was deleted without an explanation. I question why this was done? Is this information not the truth? I am not here to decieve the membership, unlike some.)

Simon.

No one is denying that at the moment it is cheap.

CURRENTLY it is cheap. However, it is also known that it will not STAY cheap.

This is a high volume site and nothing is free. Why do you post the information out of context - you of all people know how damaging that can be.

Thanks,

A..

sites with 50000 members and 20 times more traffic and participation than here are for free... makes me wonder, i saw most of them are paid by the ones who created them and a little bunch of others, but suscriptions?, only in conspiracy forums and pornographic forums, this makes me laugh at reality.

These sites - they are sponsored are they not? Either by some benefactor, or by advertising.

Nothing of this nature is free, someone always pays or a deal is done.

Do we really care if there is money made with membership. What I want is quality info. If Bill and Kerry can do a better job with more money then lets give them what is needed to make it so.

You couldn't pay me enough to go through gestapo frisks at airports and sleep in discount motels on a constant basis.

In the meantime let's participate by helping those that are pounding the sidewalk to find out what technologies are being kept from us that could actually eliminate the need for energy dependence, needless suffering, and enslavement of humanity.

There is a goal in view here, and we need to either help or get out of the way!

If the site is high through put then you'll get mega bucks in advertising.. So why not add advertising to the site and be done with the whole thing. People don't want to pay? So shove advertisements in their face.

I don't get the problem with that. They got the choice right?

Re: Subscription - Why???

I just dont want them having my bank details and personal information.

on a conspiracy site where agents are lurking, and to be honest, I dont automatically trust someone just because it is their site either!! Given the current climate I think that's wise. So no subscribtion from me I am afraid.

Re: Subscription - Why???

You do not HAVE to give any details of your personal information.

I would suggest a Cashiers Check or a Money Order.
Just use snail mail to get it in.

Worked for me....

EDIT: One thing that is positive about a subscription is it will weed out people that simply want to cause trouble.
Of course not everyone but, a good portion of them will go away.

Hello,

I would like to have advertising if I don't pay subscription, and no advertising if I pay subscription.

I can't understand being forced to pay, when you can make the money with advertising. Just don't force me please. Support is something that need to be MY decision, not yours.

Sorry, I can't believe you are going that way, I still hope you can change your mind...

Thank you.

EDIT : People that want trouble WILL make trouble, with forced subscription you are just penalizing honest people without money.

Sure, why not.

No subscription. Pop up distracting ads.

While you are at it, deep six the moderation.

Bring on the porn and the spam.

Flame wars, no holds barred.

I seriously doubt that is going to happen.
One, it is not my call...
Two, it is the owners decision and they are going with the Subscription route.
Three, They do not want advertisments. Personally I don't care for them myself. They look crass and can be very annoying.
Four, I am not going to debate/argue with you on this.

I know from a business stand point if you give something away for free then people will take it for granted.
When there is a fee then people will take it a lot more seriously.

Also I happen to agree with the owners since they have given ALL their videos and interviews away for free on the net.
So their forum is a small price to pay in the scheme of things.

Nobody is getting penalized. You were already GIVEN free information to begin with.

I also understand being cash poor.
I was laid off this past summer after 15 years of solid service.
It was not fair but, what is?
It was not due to my lack of performance.
It was due to the economic climate.
I simply am doing the best I can under the circumstances.
However, if there is something I want/need then I sacrifice something else to attain it.

Does this mean then that if someone posts something of value to other members they can get a refund on their subscription??

Re: Subscription - Why???

After having run web sites for over 8 years, here is the poop.

It is dirt cheep compared to a few years ago now. Our sites have a lot of big meg pictures
and that means bandwidth and costs. The first few years it was close to $300.00 a year
per site, now it is down to just about a hundred bucks a year for each. Maybe they
should just charge for their videos? All the videos have told me so far is what the Powers
That Be want us to believe, and how to believe it. Release of information that THEY want
you to have, the way they want you to have it. Except the bible, now that is on its own, if
you but read it.

Re: Subscription - Why???

I don't think it has much to do with the costs of running this forum.
I believe they are trying to create a paid subscription business
to make a living. It is a business. Bill and Kerry will have expenses
regarding collecting new valuable information. Your contribution
will help them travel to neat locations and chat with whistleblowers and
witnesses. They got bills just like the rest of us. And considering
the expenses and the cost of living, they will need some kind of income to cover them.

If you feel that you can go elsewhere to get the information for free,
then kudos for you.

We all know how expensive everything is. And if the price is fair,
then you get the reward of gaining insightful information. However,
if you feel the information is not that insightful, you don't have to pay.
Avalon will become a resource to community members here and less of
a debate hall. Members that stay here will gain a more productive
journey through important information not available anywhere else.
That could be a valuable asset to you.

Running a server is one thing but eating, traveling, paying rent, the light bill, and other expenses is another.

I doubt Bill and Kerry will fit the role of saying, "Would you like fries with that?" to interview more witnesses.

Peace,
Kevin

Re: Subscription - Why???

I don't like the idea of paying for no other reason than an official contract will be on record of your participation on the forum.

Paypal will show your address and name and this can be recorded onto any database. And these databases can be seen by whoever.

hmmmmmm.

I like my aninomity on all forums, don't you?

:)

Re: Subscription - Why???

Ouch, didnt know this place was going the subscription route. Unfortunatly Im barely making ends meet and just wont put more monthly dollars out there. I can clearly see the lengths they are going for the interviews ect, but the truth shouldnt cost , especially when there are alot of ppl out there who dont have a dime, and could very well access via a public library , for information like I used to in college.

There are options to make money from a popular site, without charging users access. Not exploring those options im afraid will just give potential new members the wrong idea about the site and its purpose. Wich is sad, because I beleive the purpose as ive been able to determine is very noble.

Does this mean the interviews will not be available on youtube ect, or will that remain ?
