Disaster supply kit
 
The disaster supply kit consist in material that you can make available in max 1 hour.
Every family member should have a small bag (back bag preferred).
This is the minimal kit.
See further chapter for a more complete one.


Water -
1.at least 5 liters daily per person for 9 days at home.
2.at least 2 liters daily per person for 9 days if you decide to move.
3.Water filter

Food - at least enough for 9 days
1.non-perishable packaged or canned food / juices
2. foods for infants or the elderly
3.snack foods
4.non-electric can opener
5.cooking tools / Gas
6.paper plates / plastic utensils

FUEL: have a complete fill prepared in tanks.

Outdoor set
Tent
sleep bag

Clothing - seasonal / rain gear/ sturdy shoes
First Aid Kit / Medicines / Prescription Drugs
Blankets / Pillows, etc.
Special Items - for babies and the elderly
Toiletries / Hygiene items / Moisture wipes

Toys, Books and Games: one item each family component

Important documents - in a waterproof container or watertight resealable plastic bag
insurance, medical records, bank account numbers, Social Security card, etc.
Keys
Cash - Banks and ATMs may not be open or available for extended periods
Tools - keep a set with you during the emergency
knives
Flashlight / Batteries
Radio - Battery operated
Whistle -in case you need to attract someone’s attention

Vehicle fuel tanks filled
Pet care items

this is indeed a good list. But have you done the math of the kg´s. Seems a lot for carrying in a bagpack on foot, once the carfuel has run out. And nine days on two liters of water per day is extremely limited.


suggestion 1: replace the kgs of the water by/or add Chlor (you can find in a store for swimming pools) It decontaminates water very effectivly.

suugestion 2: replace the cans and all the other heavy food stuff by high calory dry dried food and high energy power bars... you can live on three mars bars a day.
