In my view the Reiki system does have an energetically significant affect that is not arbitrary. If you do it properly, do the courses and get the attunements, then you are effectively joining in to the mass-intent (re)started by Dr. Mikao Usui. I see that as a benefit.

Personally, I see Reiki as a kind of ceremonial white magic. Ritual acts designed to evoke the healing energies and make them available to be blown by the winds of your intent.

So I posit that this is more than some elaborate power of suggestion - I think you are joining a flow, set in motion by the original guy.

In line with what you say - we are all very powerful healers - Reiki or no Reiki. To expose this takes something (can I say faith?).
