When you are on the spiritual path, and we all are even if we don't consciously recognize it, you must face what is termed as death.
And once you find out for yourself through experience, what it really is, you set yourself free. Having out of body experiences and NDE's give us profound insights and realizations that we do indeed exist outside the body, that the body is a vessel for Spirit, and that we are that Spirit in these bodies having a human experience.
Choosing to understand what death really is before our bodies grow old and must return to the Earth will change you. You will have a different view point and perspective to view life from.
I feel that those that want to die, really want to live. Even if they can't see it that way, and choose to take their life in order to escape the chaos they created for themselves, on a subconscious level they know that death will be their release but they do not know they can die while the body still 'lives'.
Death is a rebirth, I encourage everyone to experience 'death' for themselves, in a place from the heart and not from a place of fear.
