The problem with a gas mask is two fold, first it is bulky and 4 more things (have 4 people) to carry, but most important is you can not really see the anthrax spores. I think that with the antibiotic, you will have shown flu-like symptoms to treat, and your body will establish antibodies so you will not be reinfected. No I may be somewhat off-base and if I am, someone will surely let me know.
