Personally - I think that what You are saying is actually the case. The Ships being seen are in a different Light Spectrum / Dimension than what We can normally view due to the High Frequency of their Onboard Power Systems.
Appparently as Frequency of the Power Source increases - Gravity decreases for the Ship carrying the High Frequency Power Source. This would allow Interstellar Travel much more easily than what standard Models predict, and could allow almost Instantaneous travel for a Ship powered in such a way.
