To all , had some inquiries from some of you about my trip to yellowstone last week . It was my 14th year straight climbing the surrounding mountains 8-10,000 ft. Snowmobiling thru multiple 6 ft. snow drifts, parking at the peaks when the sun was out, lighting up a cigar and taking in the view. Ah yes it truly is that moment in time where it does stand on it's own.
As for the earthquakes , nope, notta, never felt a thing. There is a wolf preserve and grizzly preserve in west yellowstone (town ) . Asked the keepers if the animals were acting any strange. Nothing to worry about there. The thing everybody is worried about is the economy , yellowstone park last year had record attendance, sales at all the stores and eats places are down 50% in revenue. The town of west yellowstone is just outside the park at the parks entrance. We rented a condo and snowmobiles for 5 days. Rode into Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana, about 450 miles in all. There are 600 miles of grromed trails outsoide of the park on the west side. When you get on those trails right after the groomer It's like the autobahn when it's groomed. And boy is it pretty. This is a Man trip every year, West Yellowstone promotes a beer called "Moose Drool" , so we indulge in our fair share of drool, lots of cards, lots of laughs and we do a fair share of cooking . The guy at the Store kept thanking us all week for the business. We've taken many different people out there thru the years , This year we took 2 guys from Canada. First year for them , My one buddy from Canada lost his legs way back when he was 18. He rode with prostetics as he does a motorcycle too. We had him up on 700 ft cliffs and he did great. What a trip it was. But as for the earthquakes, just as the one bartender said if she blows what a better front row seat. As for now, I'd say nothing to worry about plus I'd have to find a new spot to ride in if anything did happen and this place is premium! So there's your live Avalon Report direct from the site, Now thats dedication ! |
