[Audio Included] Are NASA Astronauts Free To Talk Or Are They Monitored At All Times? You Decide.
I'm posting here to get your opinion on this small audio clip (it also appears on our latest Veritas show). It is interesting because when I asked a very direct question to Dr. Edgar Mitchell: 1. There was a technical glitch; 2. He pretended he didn't hear it or 3. Someone was monitoring the call and made sure Mitchell didn't hear the question nor answer it. The question was: "Dr. Mitchell. Did you see anything on the Moon that NASA did not show us nor tell us?" What do you think? The audio clip starts when he's answering a question and at about 30 seconds is when the incident happens. I have my opinion, but I'm curious to know yours. I think someone was listening and made sure he couldn't hear it. CLICK FOR AUDIO Last edited by manticore; 03-21-2009 at 06:25 PM. |

Hi Mel,
I love your show. It is possible that it was a technical glitch. You should have repeated the question when you got him back on the phone to see if it happened again, I would love to know what his answer would be. Any of the three options are possible, I would say 50% - monitored call 50% technical glitch. If something like this happens again I would repeat the question and see what happens. |

Thank you. I've been asked why I didn't ask the question again. My knee jerk reaction was not to ask again. I didn't want the interview to be over, as I sensed getting disconnected could happen again.
I did ask the question again in a more subtle manner: Did you see anything or feel anything different while you were on the Moon? I also asked about structures on the Moon and he basically responded "that is all nonsense." |

Hi Manticore. I would have thought... 1) It is very possible that there was a tecchy glitch 2) Yes, he could have ignored the question 3) If indeed anyone had been monitoring the conversation then surely, they would have moitored it all and the previous replies from the person would have some how been delayed? I think it must have been a glitch, but personally once comms were regained I would have asked the same question , immediately. Ammit |

I will tell you why I didn't ask the question. It took me lots of persuasion to actually get an interview with him. Bear in mind I just started this show three months ago. I actually contacted his assistant when I only had one show done. They didn't know who I was. I contacted them again in January and they agreed to a 30-minute interview. I persuaded for one hour and did.
I had to be careful with the questions I was asking, since he didn't know me. It took Paola Harris (some of you may know her) to help me get this interview. They are friends. After I asked that question, I believe I asked a few more and, as someone mentioned above, he started getting aggravated. So in my mind I thought, if I ask the same question so directly, he will get more aggravated and perhaps may even say, "That's it, you have been rude and I don't want you to publish this interview." Many things going to the mind of a newbie. I don't have any broadcasting/journalism experience. I'm just a curious member of the audience who gets to ask the questions. I hope this satisfies your curiosity as to why I got cold feet to ask again. Last edited by manticore; 03-22-2009 at 04:39 PM. |

I have listened to all of your posted interviews on veritas and in my opinion you're doing a great job so far-the questions being articulate, intelligent and straight to the point mixed with tact and politeness.Edgar mitchell appears to me to have changed his tack on certain issues after his groundbreaking revelation of aliens exist etc later last year.Almost as if he's been approached since then somewhere down the line to curb his tongue a little?
