Seems like a good reason to create more tax bills. Alot of people are going broke. With all the new taxes in January and Credit card company's raising interest rates to 24 percent...people will be forced to starve.

But l think we'll just have to make it work.... wutever they try we'll see coming.... and be ready!

In addition to the legislation mentioned by John Tate below, we've received word from sources on the Hill that House leadership may try to ram through a so-called "jobs" bill tomorrow that could total as much as $75 billion. The legislation is so rushed that, as of this writing (late Tuesday night), it doesn't even have an H.R. number.

So... raise the debt limit and turn right around and spend some more money. Merry Christmas, America.

Update: Well, the bill was finally posted - on the rules committee website at 11:30 last night! Whew. Glad they'll have lots of time to read all that before voting today.

What will Congress hide in the Defense Appropriations Bill?

While Americans busy themselves with holiday preparations, the weeks surrounding Congress' Christmas break can often be the most dangerous time for our freedoms.

After all, we were given the "gift" of our Federal Reserve System just a couple of days before Christmas in 1913.

Part of the legislation being considered before Congress adjourns this year is the $636 billion Defense Appropriations bill.

It's bad enough that this Congress, which was elected by a country tired of our endless nation-building, is about to vote to keep overextending our military and involving it in unconstitutional interventions, but lawmakers are seeking to include much more than defense items in this appropriations package.

According to the latest reports, legislators may attempt to tack on language forcing monopoly bargaining on every policeman, firefighter, and emergency medical technician (EMT) in the country, as well as extending the PATRIOT Act.

Canadian news networks are reporting the deaths of 4 Canadian soldiers and 1 journalist. I think the number of journalists killed in 2009 is about 100. I just saw this article though, which has a bit more detail, i.e. 8 CIA agents were also killed. There was nothing about it in Canadian news.
