This is the second reason, the second cause for the arising of mighty earthquakes.

16-21. On January 19, Spanish newspaper ABC, a newspaper of record in Spain, published a story entitled Chavez accuses US of causing earthquake in Haiti.

The story was quickly picked up by websites around the globe - most quoting Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez as saying the U.S. used a new tectonic weapon to induce the Haitian earthquake. This was, according to Chavez - "only a drill, and the final target is destroying and taking over Iran".

Within the actual story, ABC noted that the information came from an obscure opinion post on the website of a Venezuelan state television channel, VIVE Television. The post referenced a supposed Russian military report on American seismic weapons.

All quotes subsequently attributed to Chavez regarding Haiti and earthquake weapons were in fact direct quotes from this web posting - none of which was ever uttered by Chavez.

Spurred on by the international attention being received by its first story, ABC posted a second article on January 20 under the banner The Secret Weapon to Cause Earthquakes in which it cites Chavez as having blamed the US for razing Haiti.

By the time the story had run its course, it had been covered with varying degrees of accuracy by corporate news channels, foreign outlets eager to accuse the U.S. of another evil deed, and conspiracy websites happy to have their ideas officially validated.

In the end, it serves as one more reminder to those who prefer truth over ideological delusion: there are some subjects for which the myths of journalistic standards will still be displayed - stories about the government of Venezuela are not one of those subjects.

What's been debunked is that Chavez never said HAARP caused the quake. It's a misunderstanding. The video footage of Chavez used in the Russia Today news report has apparently nothing to do with him talking about HAARP. There is no recording of Chavez saying it.

Exactly. Listen. "Spanish newspaper ABC quotes Chavez..." and the video is just some footage of Chavez. And ABC newspaper was actually quoting a Venezuelian article reporting Russian intelligence about HAARP. That's the misunderstanding: a website from Venezuela giving credits to Russian data about HAARP causing earthquakes is not Chavez accusing the US. The fault is all on the Spanish newspaper.

It's not Chavez who said the quake was caused by HAARP. It's Marco Gonzalez Chevige and here, a reporter, whose article was posted on governmental Radio Nacional de Venezuela.

Here's a Google search for all pages containing "HAARP" on the government of Venezuela domain:

But why attach so much importance to Chavez? It IS looking very much like a haarp job, so evidence to support that is what we need , not words from another political figure. Where does he get HIS information? There are some laundry lists of why it must be haarp going around on the internet atm, but like most lists, it needs to be backed up further, then picked apart.

One of the weirdest things said by Richard Hoagland is in the Project Camelot interview when he mentions HAARP and says thank god there are some people "out there" doing things to HELP/save us.... wtf??? Hoagy...

Hard evidence or at the very least the growing list of anomolies will do more than anything said by someone as controversial as Chavez.

Basically I don't care who thinks this is not true. I'm hearing way more "dubunk" BS then about what Chavez is saying. Do you people even know what Chavez is saying or CNN got all the answers? You don't seem to be trying to hard to to listen.

Ya, that is true, part of the process of nonwakers waking up, right? The funny part though is the 'propaganda machine' backfired on the individuals that are using our country for their own gain. The US didn't use HAARP, a few people who happen to have access to HAARP are using it.

I think it is important to strike a difference between the American people and the few putz's who are temporarily in a political role abusing their position, hiding behind their position, to reap for themselves and their cronies.

Name names of individuals instead of country's... even Ahmadinejad had no problem calling Bush the Devil himself.
