Regards the colours... isn't the spectrum slightly scrambled here? I'm of course used to the idea that red is danger and green is 'all right', but red is the lowest frequency in the visible range of colours.

Yes, but all colors have a dual aspect as well. Based on the sacred teachings every thing goes black, when one reaches enlightenment.Black is dualistic. You're right, there are patterns everywhere ,they can awaken us, or put us to sleep.
