I never paid attention and still learned a lot. We did study about other countries and geography was one of my favorite subjects. As far as Olympic games, don't most people try and watch their own countrymen, and hope they do well? I think you're generalizing us too much, I think we're a lot more worldly than you give us credit for. |

As far as watching their countrymen...of course this is what is important. I just rmember watching Olympics in 1996(in USA) not knowing anything about any winners from other countries. In Poland we always know about how well our sportsmen do, but we also know who the best guys are and we show events even without anybody from Poland participating. I do not want to sound too critical and I do not write about people here, it's more about the system. And if I were to generalize I think that in general Americans are nice folks.
