Totally understandable, i kinda feel the same way. A bit of a turning point for me.

Can imagine its way draining to be sued for pointing out the frauds and get no thanks from the wider UFO community at all.

well,anyone who deliberately fakes an encounter like this with the sole purpose
of capitalising financially from it needs a good beating..it does more harm
to real encounters than anything....not good,

had more of a look into it...

yes this is another case ive heard about but not looked into myself,
all the comments i hear about him have him down as a fraud.
some of the encounters ive heard of regarding him sound a bit far fetched...
but then again people would think that of my own experiences,which i obviously know are real... so what should i believe?

just for the record,the well known ones i have looked into which i believe true cases are,,

1 .travis walton- although parts may have been "enhanced" to maximise on the selling of the story,
possible this is where spielberg got his idea for close encounters of the third kind from,
just my opinion.(1975)

2 .roswell - (1947) say no more.....

3 .rendlesham (1980)

I agree with your assessment. After looking into the Meier case on and off for several years I have to say that I think the evidence strongly suggests he is a fraud and cult leader.

The Hessdalen phenomena also appears to be genuine.

If you haven't picked up Dolan's two volumes of UFOs and the National Security State you really should.

Dolan's books are by far the best I have ever read on the topic.
He is always quick to tell you when he is speculating.
I've bought so many ufo books over the years, if I had to recommend any, his two books would be top of the list.

I was overcome the other afternoon by feelings of despair and hopelessness contemplating how disingenuous, phony, and downright FAKE much of Ufology and Ufologists are. To compound that problem many of the people who have an interest in the subject are more into woo-woo than science and as a result fall for hoaxes left and right. It is terribly discouraging.

I know there is a real UFO phenomena out there. I know real scientists and seriously minded individuals are giving it detailed study. Its just that they are all working five miles underground in black projects with the real data. Up here, we've got people going ga-ga- over failed missile tests and poorly constructed paper-mache aliens in home movies. It's enough to make me start ignoring the whole subject.

Yes, there is an interview or two out there where he goes into that. It is a shame really. Ufology is full of hucksters, con-men, and well meaning people who have been taken in by them and finding someone who will call a spade a spade is incredibly difficult.

I think the best thing Ufology has going for it right now is Richard Dolan. He didn't pull any punches in his latest book. His third book in the series should have some of Camelot's alleged whistle-blowers and witnesses in it and should be very interesting indeed.
