20 thousand troops will crush a good sized chunk of the USA, calm it down / kill enough to pass control over to LEO agencies, then move on.

In every state where the government has moved from democracy to an autocratic system or dictatorship the troops have fired upon their own countrymen.

French killed fellow french in WW2 as they wanted to be on the 'governments side', Norwegians killed Norwegians in ww2 . . . . Quisling any one? Its sadly human nature to 'go with the flow' and wanting to be in the 'bigger bullies side so i don't get hurt too' crowd.

i aggree colin i couldnt see our own troops opening fire one a bunch of

inocent people it may be hard to believe but the united states army isnt just

a bunch of gun totin blood thirsty maniacs i mean we all have familes

too if nething we'd probley just stop riots and keep peace so all hell doesnt

break out and civilains start killing eachother

The Army and all forces will do what they are told, when they are told. Lets put it another way.

Your told a strong hold is hiding 120 dangerous terrorists heavily armed and barricaded in. Your blood pumps, your adrenaline kicks in, your going after the bad guys and you breech the door to be met with gun fire. You kill every last person in there because you are told and believe in what your doing.

Turns out you stormed a christian meeting house thats going against the grain and certain people in the government want them taught a lesson.

Let's not forget the Nat'l Guard. I have a son in the Guard...currently active. He has wife and kids. The Nat'l Guard is added to the 20K.
