Now I think I understand why Dennis Kucinich didn't co-sponsor earlier, he wanted to be #218, the tipping point.
Important Information Regarding HR 1207 Posted by John Tate on 06/12/09 As you've no doubt heard by now, Ron Paul's Audit the Fed Bill (H.R. 1207) has now passed 218 co-sponsors, giving this vital reform the support of a majority on the U.S. House. That's the good news. But here's the rest of the story. I've seen a lot of well-intentioned news stories and posts over the last 24 hours incorrectly noting that this means it is out of Committee, on the House floor, or worse, assured of passage. Please note that none of this is true - yet. There is still MUCH work to be done, even in the House. You and I both know that the Fed and its allies will stop at nothing to hold onto their power. And there are a lot of tricks people can use even at this stage of the battle. So please know - there's a long way to go, but thanks to you, we're getting closer every day to passing Audit the Fed! The next step is hearings and a vote in the House Financial Services Committee. This has not been scheduled yet. After that the House can consider the bill. We're optimistic with its bipartisan support in the House, that the Audit the Fed bill will proceed through Committee and to the House floor in the near future. And rest assured, Campaign for Liberty and Ron Paul are prepared to keep up the pressure - and use any available means - to pass Audit the Fed through the House. More on this in the future, but for now, KEEP UP THE PRESSURE! SOURCE and COMMENTS: http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog.php?view=19873 From Senator Jim DeMint's Facebook: Will the Federal Reserve Be Audited? Posted by MattJarfi on 06/16/09 11:56 AM This came straight from Senator Jim DeMint's Facebook!!! What a true champ! Will the Federal Reserve Be Audited? Today at 10:15am It will come as a surprise to many Americans to know: 1) the Federal Reserve is not part of the U.S. government, but is a private organization; and 2) it has never been audited. But more than half of the members of the U.S. House of Representatives have become cosponsors of Congressman Ron Paul's bill to audit the Fed, and similar legislation has been introduced in the Senate. Enacted in 1913, the Fed began issuing currency in 1914. All U.S. currency today is Federal Reserve currency. The last U.S. Treasury-issued dollars backed by precious metal carried the date 1968. Since then, the value of all dollars has steadily evaporated due to inflation. All value will soon disappear completely if the process under which the Fed is permitted to print vast quantities of new money isn't terminated. As an important first step in exposing what the Fed has been doing for almost 100 years, Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) introduced the Federal Reserve Transparency Act on February 26. Known more popularly as the "Audit the Fed bill," H.R. 1207 has already garnered 224 co-sponsors, more than half of the 435 House members. This remarkable achievement could not have occurred without the congressman's valiant run for the GOP nomination that awakened millions. He has been warning that the nation would suffer an economic meltdown for many years. Moreover, the recession that has already harmed so many has generated widespread demand for examining the Fed's books. In a recent message appearing on YouTube, Rep. Paul pointed out that, while more than half of the House membership has now co-sponsored the bill, an even more important plateau of support would be 290, the number of backers that would negate the potential for blocking the bill through a parliamentary procedure known as suspension of the rules. In other words, he urges continued effort to gain more co-sponsors. Over in the Senate, a companion measure has been introduced. S. 604 also calls for auditing the Fed and needs its own co-sponsors. To date, the bill's author, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont), has been joined by only one co-sponsor, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.). Now that there is such large and growing support for an overall audit of everything the Fed does, Congressman Paul believes that the Fed's authorities and its government supporters who will be under the gun "will come down real hard" to block what the bill seeks to accomplish. But, he says, "Support so far amounts to a major political and moral victory. If the Fed's supporters don't allow this bill to pass, they will prove our point that they are hiding important information that the American people want to see." He also believes any attempt to thwart the purpose of H.R. 1207 will increase demand for the Fed to be audited. The congressman is correct. Major progress toward achieving long-overdue transparency of the nation's unconstitutional money manager has already been made. The New American Magazine By John F. McManus Monday, 15 June 2009 SOURCE: http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog.php?view=20067 Lindsey Graham is "now considering" co-sponsoring S.604! Posted by MattJarfi on 06/16/09 11:13 AM Lindsey Graham is "now considering" co-sponsoring S.604 The Federal Reserve Sunshine Act!! Keep the pressure on! Call Lindsey Graham today and ask him to co-sponsor S.604 Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009. He stated in an interview last month that he would support an audit of the Fed. Hold him to it! Phone number: (202) 224-5972 SOURCE: http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog.php?view=20062 Targeted Senate List for S 604 (HR 1207 companion bill in the Senate) Posted by georges on 06/16/09 10:59 AM Pasted below is a list of the entire Senate with phone numbers. This list is grouped as follows: All senators that are both (1)up for election this cycle and (2)are also on the banking committee ( Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs ) All senators that are on the banking committee All senators that are up for election this cycle The rest of the scoundrels, er, I mean senators By categorizing the list this way, I hope that those senators most closely connected with the bill and those most sensitive to our concerns (because of election concerns) will hear from us first and the most. Some may hesitate to call if they do not know what to say, so may I suggest something like the following canvass. I might say... for committee members... Hi. I am George Schumpf and I am calling from Idaho. I am a non-constituent, but I am calling because Senator whoever is on the banking committee. I am calling to support S. 604, the Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009. I would like to urge the senator to co-sponsor this bill and support this important bill when it comes up in committee. for non-committee members... Hi. I am George Schumpf and I am calling from Idaho. I am a non-constituent, but I am calling to support S. 604, the Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009. I would like to urge Senator whoever to co-sponsor and support this important bill. Let's get ready to pressure the Senate even more than the House, because THEY WILL NEED MORE PRESSURE. This is a critical opportunity to make a real difference in the battle for our country, our economy and for liberty. Let's not let our really great effort in the House fail in the Senate because we ran out of steam. Please commit, if possible, to work down through this whole list. Please respond to the anonomous survey question to reflect your commitment. Thank you for your help. Pelosi, 1207, and Fed Secrecy
Posted by Matt Hawes on 06/18/09 7:21 PM In his latest piece, The Huffington Post's Ryan Grim again covers HR 1207 and reports on recent statements on Fed transparency by House Speaker Pelosi: The Ron Paul-sponsored bill to audit the Fed picked up another dozen cosponsors over the last several days, with Rep. Louis Slaughter (D-N.Y.), chair of the Rules Committee, marking the 234th signer -- 16 more than needed for passage -- and the 67th Democrat. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) reflected on the growing anxiety people feel about the Fed at her weekly news conference Thursday.... "Many of us were, shall we say, if not surprised, taken aback when the Fed had $80 billion to invest -- to put into AIG just out of the blue. All of a sudden we wake up one morning and AIG has received $80 billion from the Fed," she said. "So of course we're saying, Where's this money come from? 'Oh, we have it. And not only that, we have more.'... Pelosi, while sympathetic to Paul's bill, added that she wasn't familiar with the details. Paul said he'd take care of that. "I might catch her up to date," said Paul, smiling and heading back on to the House floor to look for the speaker. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.). Baldwin is a bellwether, one of 66 Democrats - and 232 members overall - to co-sponsor a bill mandating audits of the Federal Reserve System for the first time in its nearly 100-year history....The bill has succeeded in melding the extreme margins of both parties as few proposals have - uniting anti-Big Government Republicans like Paul with anti-Big Business Democrats like Reps. Lynn Woolsey of California and Dennis Kucinich of Ohio.... Continues: http://www.campaignforliberty.com/bl...cpg=1#comments Last edited by peaceandlove; 06-19-2009 at 01:06 PM. |

I love how with a bill such as this trying to go through, part of Obama's new economic plan is to give the Fed MORE power over banks. Unbelievable.

Don't Mess With Texas!!!
Houston Tea Party Protest of Nancy Pelosi - 6/12/2009Posted by Bryan on 06/13/09 3:34 PM Video (3:29): Comment regarding article from previous page, post #75. Pelosi: Federal Reserve Needs More Transparency ![]() By Ben Pershing Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said this morning that the Federal Reserve should operate with more transparency, one day after President Obama unveiled a financial regulatory overhaul that would give increased authority to the central bank. "The fact is that the American people want to know more of the 'Secrets of the Temple,'" Pelosi said at her weekly press conference, referring to the 20-year-old book on the Fed she called "required reading in my day." Even as Obama proposes to give the Fed more power to regulate firms and markets, an increasing number of members of Congress have expressed unease about the bank's growing reach and the murkiness of its finances. A bill authored by Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) calling for a full audit of the Fed's books by the U.S. Comptroller General now has a bipartisan group of 234 co-sponsors. Pelosi said she did not know the specific details of Paul's bill, but did make clear she wanted to know more about the Fed's balance sheet, particularly since the central bank stepped in to bail out the insurance giant AIG last fall. "Many of us were, shall we say, not surprised [but] taken aback when the Fed had $80 billion to put into AIG just out of the blue," Pelosi recalled. "All of the sudden you wake up one morning and AIG is receving $80 billion from the Fed. So of course we're saying, 'Where is this money coming from?'" And, she said, the Fed responded: "'Oh, we have it, and not only that, we have more.'" Pelosi did not criticize any of Obama's financial overhaul proposals, nor did she provide any specifics on how oversight of the Fed should be increased. But, she said, "a balance has to be struck between what is required to run the Fed in a responsible way [and] what transparency there should be, so as the Fed assumes even more power... the American people have more knowledge about it." Campaign for Liberty Applauds Senator Jim DeMint's Leadership on Audit the Fed Bill
Posted by Matt Hawes on 06/23/09 5:37 PM C4L's latest press release: ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty today issued high praise for Senator Jim DeMint and his leadership on legislation to bring transparency to the Federal Reserve and our nation's monetary policy. Last week, Senator DeMint became the first Republican to support S. 604, The Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009. This week he has taken to the airwaves to help build momentum for this bill, including a nationally televised appearance today on Fox News' Glen Beck Show. S. 604 is the companion to H.R. 1207, legislation introduced in the House of Representatives by Congressman Ron Paul, which currently stands with 237 cosponsors, a majority of the House. "The Federal Reserve wields tremendous power and is at the center of our current economic storm of deficits, debt and bailouts." "Senator Jim DeMint understands that in order to solve our problems, America needs transparency and accountability at our nation's central bank," said Campaign for Liberty President John Tate. HR1207 Update - 242 Co-sponsors
THE LATEST FIVE TO OPEN THEIR EYES! ![]() 6/24/09 Rep Cantor, Eric [VA-7] - 6/23/2009 Rep Space, Zachary T. [OH-18] - 6/23/2009 Rep Conyers, John, Jr. [MI-14] - 6/23/2009 Rep Sherman, Brad [CA-27] - 6/23/2009 Rep Snyder, Vic [AR-2] - 6/23/2009 Conyers, by the way, is an influential Democrat who chairs the Judiciary Committee. He is far-left and totally secure in his district seat. That he is a co-sponsor proves that any Democrat will potentially co-sponsor this bill. Posted by dljholt on 06/24/09 07:29 AM Congratulations, C4L Patriots! Not only are there now 242 co-sponsors for HR1207, but we turned up the heat and Eric Cantor felt it. He signed on as a co-sponsor Tuesday, June 23, 2009. The following five Virginia Congressmen are still holding out: Rep. Glenn C. Nye (VA-2) Rep. Robert (Bobby) C. Scott (VA-3) Rep. Jim Moran (VA-8) Rep. Rick Boucher (VA-9) Rep. Gerald (Gerry) E. Connolly (VA-11) Call your representative who has not signed on today and demand that he co-sponsor HR1207. Suggested script: Dear Congressman ________________, I want you to join your colleagues in Virginia CD1, CD4, CD5, CD6, CD7, CD10 and 236 other representatives across the country in co-sponsoring and supporting the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, H.R. 1207. Since 1913, our dollar has lost more than 95% of its purchasing power. HR 1207 amends section 714 of Title 31 of the U.S. Code to remove the restrictions on how the Government Accountability Office (GAO) can audit the Federal Reserve. With these limitations gone, the Fed's discount window operations, funding facilities, open market operations, and agreements with foreign central banks and governments would all finally be open to congressional oversight. The GAO would be required to audit the Fed by the end of 2010 and to report its findings to Congress. Sincerely, (your name) 3) Sign the petition and ask all your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to sign, too. Even if you've contacted your representatives before, do so again. We can't let up now. Let's make this happen, patriots!!! Ron Paul at Cato: ‘Audit the Fed’
Posted by Chris Moody June 24, 2009 When Texas Congressman and former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul speaks about transparency in the Federal Reserve, he sums up his argument with one simple question. Why not? “Why in the world should this much power be given to a Federal Reserve that has the authority to create $1 trillion secretly?” Ron Paul asked a standing room-only crowd today at the Cato Institute. Paul was on a panel of speakers, including Gilbert Schwartz, former associate general counsel to the Federal Reserve, to discuss a new bill that will audit the Fed for the first time in its history. This comes at a time when the Fed’s balance sheet has almost tripled, from just over $800 billion before the financial crisis to almost $2.3 trillion now. “We will only win when the people wake up and realize that transparency is what we need,” said Paul. “When we know exactly what’s happening, there will be monetary reform.” Hear the rest of Paul’s comments below: VIDEO (9:29): http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog.php?view=20680 ANOTHER SOURCE (for audio): http://www.cato-at-liberty.org/2009/...audit-the-fed/ |

This is so important. Please watch short video by Ron Paul about holding Federal; Reserve accountable..etc
April 3, 2009 Dear Friend of Liberty, Your outspoken support for Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed bill is working! The politicians are taking notice, and already 55 of them have signed on as co-sponosors to HR 1207. There has even been a companion bill introduced in the Senate. This is great news! Now is the time to push harder! Dr. Paul recently spoke about the gathering momentum of this movement, and he is optimistic that this bill really can pass. Please take a minute to listen to him in the video linked below. <http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/4416573:5206465995:m:1:336699378:9F8743CF026FB5FCA 68F7A5793BA70E9> http://www.campaignforliberty.com/campaigns/hr1207.php <http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/4416573:5206465995:m:1:336699378:9F8743CF026FB5FCA 68F7A5793BA70E9> As you can see, Dr. Paul is enthusiastic about our chances, and his spirits are really buoyed by the outpouring of grassroots support. It is essential that our government operate with as much transparency as possible, now more than ever. But the Federal Reserve’s operations remain shrouded in secrecy. When people found out that Congress had quietly appropriated millions for AIG bonuses, people were outraged. Imagine their reaction when they hear about the TRILLIONS the Fed has secretly been sending to Wall Street! If you have not already done so, it is vital that you sign the petition <http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/4416574:5206465995:m:1:336699378:9F8743CF026FB5FCA 68F7A5793BA70E9> urging your Congressman to cosponsor the Audit the Fed bill. The thousands already signed up have shown that your voice really can move Congress to act. Even if you have already signed the petition, there is still more you can do to help. Forward this e-mail to your friends and encourage them to get on board and sign the petition <http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/4416574:5206465995:m:1:336699378:9F8743CF026FB5FCA 68F7A5793BA70E9> . This is a winning effort and your friends won’t want to miss out. Campaign for Liberty will be matching the overwhelming activity of the grassroots. We will be gathering hundreds of thousands more petitions and lobbying Congressmen on the fence. A few days before the vote, if we have the resources, we plan to run hard-hitting targeted newspaper, radio and TV ads. Such a massive effort won’t be easy – or cheap. So in addition to signing your petition or forwarding this e-mail to a friend, I also hope you will make a contribution of $25, $50 or $100 to Campaign for Liberty. Listen to how encouraged Dr. Paul is already <http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/4416573:5206465995:m:1:336699378:9F8743CF026FB5FCA 68F7A5793BA70E9> . He’s been seeing the inaction in Congress for years, so he should know when the politicians are beginning to wake up. Let’s reward his hard work by helping pass his momentous bill that will change our monetary system forever. To make that milestone possible, please click here <http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/4416575:5206465995:m:1:336699378:9F8743CF026FB5FCA 68F7A5793BA70E9> to donate to Campaign for Liberty. Your contribution of $25, $50, $100 – or even more – will allow us to ramp up the efforts that have Dr. Paul so optimistic. We can do this, but we need your help. Campaign for Liberty can’t just print money out of thin air like the out of control Federal Reserve. Only your voluntary contributions permit us to do this work. So please, listen to Dr. Paul <http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/4416573:5206465995:m:1:336699378:9F8743CF026FB5FCA 68F7A5793BA70E9> talking about the progress we’ve made, forward this e-mail to a friend, and make a generous contribution <http://echo4.bluehornet.com/ct/4416575:5206465995:m:1:336699378:9F8743CF026FB5FCA 68F7A5793BA70E9> to Campaign for Liberty to help make this bill a reality. I can't even imagine what might happen if this passes. I mean when you think about it, what will congress then do if they audit the Fed and see that they have been raping our country for decades? Will they man up and boot them? Or will we all of a sudden see this bill get shot down for suspicious reasons?? I guess we will just wait and see.

Good on Ron Paul!
The privately owned Fed Reserve has been raping (financially) Americans and people around the World since 1913 when it was set up on Jekyll Island. People interested in this should read the excellent expose by Ed griffin called The creature From Jekyl Island - a must read! And also check out Ellen Brown's book Web of Debt or see her great site www.webofdebt.com Time for a change!
