Thanks Carmen for the great stories! I was raised around horses, and to me there is nothing like the smell of a horse barn! You, know, you are absolutely right about black horses and cats. Though, I will say that any horse with spots has a screw loose. BEautiful, but screwy.

I gave a solid black female kitten to my son as that was what he always wanted. That cat is quirky. She, raven, will let you pet her then suddenly turn and try to take off your hand. She is contentious, wants to be alpha cat due to my older female cat who tells Raven, "Not in your dreams cookie".

I got fed up with Raven attacking me one day and did knock her for a loop. She's never scratched or bitten me ever again, and her behavior is much better in general. She is quite a bit sweeter now, but still quirky.

I've always loved animals and had this connection that I know what they are thinking. They have very funny senses of humor.

Thumbelina, at a mere 17 inches tall and weighing only 60 pounds, is officially the world's smallest horse. Born as a dwarf to a miniature horse, she's a "mini of a mini," and as a foal she liked to hang out with the cocker spaniels rather than with normal-sized horses whose knees she reached to. Thumbelina will live only half the life of a regular miniature horse (maybe 17 years), but judging from this picture, she'll pack twice the cuteness into it. She's a real-life My Little Pony!

Love always

Do you know about this horse, Sea biscuit? There is a movie about him, pictured 2003. I also saw a documentary on him at History channel.
A great story, Carmen!

And now watch magnificent Secretariat racing......when he died at the age of 25, they did an autopsy on him and discovered that his heart was twice as big as the heart of an average horse. They concluded that this was the secret of his unusual strength...

Wow. Check this. I was perusing horseys to post and searched dun (fer sumpin diff'ent): Zebra-Striped Dun

All of these are considered "primitive" markings because dun is the color seen in early cave paintings of horses, in Przewalski's horse (an Asian wild horse), and in many American mustangs. Obvious zebra stripes on the legs are less common but also go along with the "primitive" dun gene.

Thanks, the pics on here are great and I knew people would have horse stories!. Oliver, the story of the little horse, Seabiscuit, inspired the whole nation at the time he was racing! A great movie!

This little mare Blue Hors Matine, wowed the crowd with her performance. Incredibly, she did not win this competition, the judges marked her down cos she 'swished' her tail! I posted this ages ago but I think she deserves another outing!

Sounds fantastic Susan. I love riding by moonlight. My advice as far as saddle soreness goes is to take arnica. Good to give it to your horse also. We always pack it when we go trekking. Look forward to seeing those pics.

Cheers

What is it about horses that brings tears to one's eyes when watching them run or dance?

Gio, THAT horse is amazing. Its name is Beauty With Few Black Spots...

But, tell me how you will call these horses? "The Three Horses Of The Apocalypse", maybe?

And were is the Fourth one?
