If a collapse happens, it will be bad, but not as bad as most fear.
The hardest for most people will be the psychological shift necessary to live in this new world. What am I talking about? -For the last 30 years, everybody has grown up used to a throw away society where you toss stuff out instead of fixing it. -We are used to buying whatever we want, when we want it. -We are used to having nice clothes. -We are used to spending hundreds a year to make ourselves look all pretty and nice. -We are used to changing our cars every 8 years. -We are used to spending $300 a month on Cell Phone bills. -We are used to jumping inside cars and not taking public transit. -We are used to building huge homes. There is a lot of stuff to modern day life that will become a luxury and the hardest will be the shift necessary to get away from that. Being poor is basically a state of mind and once people accept a lower living standard, they will ultimately be happier and the environment will be better off as well. |
