Follow the link provided inside that thread too. You'll be able to read a letter that is proposing that a mothership from an intelligent race will be appearing for three days over Alabama. It's considered first contact and it will in several parts of the globe according to this source. They chose Alabama for the use because of it's fairly quiet area.
