Default Mystery impact leaves earth-size mark on Jupiter

I saw this story on CNN: http://edition.cnn.com/2009/TECH/spa...car/index.html

It says that an impact mark/hole in the atmosphere of Jupiter that is THE SIZE OF THE EARTH was discovered a day or 2 ago by an amateur astronomer.

That is major news and NASA didn't know anything about it (officially anyway). I wonder what caused that and managed to go unnoticed despite its huge size? Does anyone think that there were crop circles depicting this event?

Major General Charles Bolden, (ret.)USMC, Now has taken his position at NASA.,CEO

After over some 50 yrs. of a hidden space program as I've been saying the
truth is going to come out. It wasn't an impact. It was the destruction
of a base... A warning to the New NASA CEO " Don't come up here ".

They should know better than to do that to a U.S. Marine. Norvel was right !
There is war in the heavens... I really can't say anymore abt it. We'll have
to see how it plays out... I do expect to see more of these, tho... Hoagland,
may blow the whistle... He's good at that !!! I've crossed the line here, so
don't ask. I hope you understand my position.... Or, I will have to dance
around the subject...

BRAVO BRAVO You got that right ! I understand your position and appreciate this. You are very brave.

We know that they have warned us before. I wondered if something like this was going to happen. I read about it last year and all of it stuck in my mind. (trust me, some things do and normally I have to hear the story or directions 3 times to get most to stick)

Thank you for saying what was running through my mind when I seen this posting.

I don't want to lose all of them... finger it out... Sorry.

Looks like Venus is getting in on the action

Experts puzzled by spot on Venus

Astronomers are puzzled by a strange bright spot which has appeared in the clouds of Venus.

The spot was first identified by an amateur astronomer on 19 July and was later confirmed by the European Space Agency's Venus Express spacecraft.

Data from the European probe suggests the spot appeared at least four days before it was spotted from Earth.

The bright spot has since started to expand, being spread by winds in Venus' thick atmosphere.

Scientists are unsure as to what caused the bright spot tens of kilometres up. However, a volcanic eruption is a possibility.

Much of the planet is thought to have been resurfaced by volcanism. Though no firm evidence for present-day volcanism has been discovered, scientists suspect it could still be happening on Venus.

But an eruption would have needed to be extremely powerful to penetrate this far through the planet's dense, mainly carbon dioxide, atmosphere.

Another potential source for the bright spot are charged particles from the Sun interacting with Venus' atmosphere.

Alternatively, atmospheric turbulence may have caused bright material to become concentrated in one area.

This is not the first time bright areas have been spotted on Venus. But this feature is unusual because it is confined to a relatively small region.

The spot was first identified by US amateur astronomer Frank Melillo, from Holtsville, New York.

Astronomers have recently been studying a "scar" on Jupiter, thought to have been caused by a comet or asteroid impact.
