Default No opt-out of filtered Internet,Australia then where else?

http://www.computerworld.com.au/inde...d%3b1399635276
“Once the public has allowed the system to be established, it is much easier to block other material,” Clapperton said.

According to preliminary trials, the best Internet content filters would incorrectly block about 10,000 Web pages from one million.

Australians will be unable to opt-out of the government's pending Internet content filtering scheme, and will instead be placed on a watered-down blacklist, experts say.

Under the government's $125.8 million Plan for Cyber-Safety, users can switch between two blacklists which block content inappropriate for children, and a separate list which blocks illegal material.

cont. on link above.

Thankyou for the link, more controls placed on the citizens of this country, i am capable of of deciding for myself the content on reading and watching what i want. This government is now just going too far, "trying to protect us for our own good and from ourselves" - there will be many votes lost by this government in the next elections if we make it to them - that is for both state and federal.
My computer has no other access other than myself, and it is up to me what i wish to find on the internet............

The television stations air more inappropriate content, look at all the adverts they allow for sexually explicit material via SMS, porn on your mobile, explicit ads for Viagra which i became sick of watching ad after ad and no real content, so i don't watch TV anymore as the good content that used to be there is gone - so much for control in that area

Protect these people This has to be the most uninteligent statement ive ever heard on this site so far, your very being here should signify that you have some awareness of what "protection" and "safety" is doing to the people.

If YOU want better internet security, you get it for yourself

Before you know it, you wont be able to pee crooked without the cops coming down on you.

You wont be able to empower yourself with information on the internet, just be aware that a hell of a lot more things will be made "illegal" after this is implemented.

Your supporting the very system we want dismantled, shame on you.

[MOD edit]

Maybe my reaction was over the top, but it just annoys me to see people willingly accepting the shackles that are slowly being fastened around their ankles.

Shackles?

If protecting people is 'Willingly Accepting Shackles' then I would suggest you recheck your logic ...

Typical, Australians need protection from the government make no mistake this country is already on the NWO path and it has to be turned around real quick, people are waking up not as fast as some would like though.

I think you read me wrong matey, I wrote Aussies need protection from the government they are fascist grubs, censorship is certainly not protection it is a form of CONTROL, Australians are sick of this play of words when they say

"we are doing it for your (the public) protection" = we are doing it to control you.
"we need stronger laws for public safety" = we want more control of you.
"we are putting cameras on highways to stop driver fatigue" = we are putting in cameras on the highways to see where you are.
"we need more police for public safety" = we need more control.
"we need more speed cameras for driver safety" = we want more money.
"we need tougher laws to combat terrorism and to protect people" = we want tougher laws to control YOU...
"we need tougher gun laws for public safety" = when you finally wake up to us, we got all the guns, you got sticks and stones suckers.
It goes on and on and on.

Interesting that a similarly timed statement from the Home Secretary in the Uk states that the internet sites that we visit will be recorded and monitored - as well as text messages etc - all in the interests of "homeland" security!

It isn't about filters or virus protection on your computer for online security Magii,

It is all about the government trying to control what you can access and what you cannot, it is simple as that.

It has nothing to do with protecting the people from spam, trojans, viruses or online threats.
It is about having our freedoms taken away, yet again.

Protecting people? I dont need anyones protection.

With the proper education people can protect themselves.

So are you telling me you support protective oppression over individual responsibility and Sovereignty? C'mon now, when you talk in future speak for yourself buddy. If you need a layer or two of bubble wrap around you then so be it. YOU wrap yourself up, but please do not assume that anyone else feels the same way. I for one do not appreciate anyone speaking for me or assuming that i need any protection. I'm inteligent enough to protect my computer myself, or are you assuming that every person on this planet is a total moron?

That will mean the likes of project avalon & co will be locked out under the terrorism act. Censorship has already begun, or hasn't anyone noticed how the web (not the net) has been playing up?
Server change over perhaps?

When you stop thinking about yourself - maybe you can see my point of view ---

Using your logic --

NO need for Policemen - just get everyone educated on using Guns / Protecting themselvs..

No Need for a Fireman - Heck .. if u have a fire .. use water and pray

No need for any sort of service from anyone else -- Lets go back into the stone age , Hunt & farm ...

~~~~
I'm not assuming anything for EVERYONE --
Im 100% sure .. majority common folk have NO IDEA on Internet Security, Firewalls, etc ...
