Default Fuel/Gasoline Prices In Your Area

We had a 'spike' in gasoline prices today.
'They' say it is due to IKE (storm).

I noticed in the Mid Michigan area a few stations over $5.00/Gallon.
It was previously around $3.80/Gallon give or take 10-15 cents either way.

Good Lord! Talk about Price Gouging.
A few years back when we had major spikes in this state our Governor Jennifer Granholm said in no uncertain terms that Price Gougers will be dealt with severly.
And...they were. It took a while but she made it happen.

What are the prices in your areas?

My area is just under $4.00 a gallon.

Gas Buddy is pretty accurate as it is updated by the end [gas] user daily. Anyone can enter the price they paid for gas: http://www.gasbuddy.com/

12 weeks ago, diesel hit $4.75. It's now hovering between $3.87 & $3.95. Phoenix.

I heard about this when I was picking up my Friday night pizza. Pizza guy told me. I get back in my car and the little gauge is just above the "E". So I had to make a decission. Hot pizza or wait in line 45 minutes to fill 'er up. My hot pizza was great. What's better is I have no gas so I don't have to go anywhere. This is perfect!!!!

peace,

Six dollars and change here in the greedy mitten and I hope to goodness some vile detestable sub human gas station owners get schooled over this! A county mounty took pictures of the signs and is reporting them to the attorney General but the sad fact is that when the barrel was last at this current market price, gasoline was around two dollars a gallon. We spoke to someone within the distribution and end cost area of petrol and ask him how long it actually takes for the barrels market price to directly affect the pumps. His answer? One full year.

This speculation crapolla was tried in the seventies, as was biofuels per Mr. Carter. It was apparently a trial run for now when they assume we are all too ignorant to be able to remember back 30 years. Well I do have that really weird memory imprint thing but still, I cant be the only one that remembers that whole bad time.

This is not a natural resources’ issue, this is not a natural disaster issue, this is not a supply and demand issue, this is a means of control and politics as usual.

Here in illinois, I saw a television news report stating that gas prices spiked up about 10 cents in some areas in and around Chicago.

In the UK, gas is $9 a gallon. In Norway, I believe, it's even more.

In most of mainland Europe, it's a little less (but nowhere lower than $8).

Bill's right £4.80p per gallon-been like this for a long time more or less double the price of what the U.S. pays for petrol.

Thanks for all the replies....

I was trying to see if there were some major 'spikes' because of this Hurricaine Ike.

Last evening there was a mini-panic at our local station. (Very near my home)
This station is named 'Admiral'. People in Michigan know what I am talking about.
Admiral stations will usually hold off raising their price when others have already jumped for at least a few hours.

People know this and jam the station. Last evening though it was so bad that the City of Lansing had Police in the area to direct traffic.
I have never seen that before.

I checked GasBuddy online a minute ago and the prices were just under $4.00/Gallon.
So this tells me it was rumor and panic. My wife said while she was at work people were talking about $5.00/Gallon gas.
Then on her way home she saw the police all around the Admiral Station.

Still, I heard last night on MSNBC while they were covering Ike that the refineries are all shut down in the southern gulf states since Hurricaine Gustov.
So the 'supply' is low. (so 'they' say) I am figuring 'they' are trying to set us up for a major price increase.

I have 3/4 tanks of gas in both of our cars and I am thinking of driving down and topping off this morning.

How about converting to electric, as many are doing now ?
Or buy a Prius and make it pluggable.

We are doubly taxed on it - generating revenue for the government. I also think it may be to keep too much traffic off our little roads in the UK.
Recently, there are many more people acquiring little mopeds, bicycles, and actually walking! Our public transport system leaves a lot to be desired however.

Just over a year ago, it cost me £35 to fill my tank, so I recently decided to treat my son whilst he was fishing, and fill up his Passat. Cripes! When the meter got to £50 I stopped and crawled under the car to see if it was pouring through the tank - nope - so curiously kept filling and filling until PING £62!!
The attendant laughed at me crawling about but believe me it was no joke.
I don't go out in my car much any more thank goodness. Too busy in't garden and on here

$1.49 a litre here in Eastern Quebec... thats about $6. a gallon???
Newfoundland is busting with oil, out West too....
why are we effected? I agree, electric sounds good.
My cusin just got a car that is both. Are Vegi Cars good?

Its hard these days, the more we improve our situation, the higher gas and food become.
Food here is disgustingly expensive,
everything is imported and they bring us the stuff that
the stores in the city don't want at marked up prices
and stuff thats almost if not already expired. I was thinking of
looking for land here, but now I am not sure.
Its hard to grow food here too, great for wind mills though.
I am having a great deal of trouble feeding my family right now
because of all the costs of importing food.
I was just arguing with them about it as I type
because I have to limit what the kids eat and they are not happy.
I lost my home because I couldn't afford oil, now food is too much,
and I live in an area with no local transportation or bus so I am grounded once the gas runs out.
I am taking money from my dads pension to keep us semi afloat.
I have considered moving but that means pulling the kids out of school.
Ouff... this is too much!!!

I had to throw out lots of food too because of the listeria poisoning
and all the recalls on meat, cheese and mushrooms ect...

That is not always feasable for people.
When I bought our 2007 Camry XLE the Hybrid Camry was not out yet.
I have had a Prius for a loaner all weekend once.
It is good on mileage but a horrible 'ride'.
I would NEVER buy a used one.
I would want brand new batteries with a full warranty.

All Electric Cars are not really in the market place in the States.
Not anything worth owning. People have converted their Priuses to all electric but, that can cost up to $15K to do.

In my opinion the Camry Hybrid is the best over all Family Car out there.
My best friend has one. In fact I was the one that got him a good deal on it.

Our Camry XLE is fairly good on mileage. Highway is around 32mpg and if I 'milk it' I can get 35mpg.
My older 2000 Buick Park Ave can get 32mpg on the freeway too. That is if I drive no more then 60mph with it.

Not everyone can just swap out their cars. It is expensive.

Personally for me and my wife we enjoy a good 'riding' car.
Our Buick and Camry are both very nice to ride in.
I have a bad back and I need the comfort I get from the cars I have.

I am sorry to hear of your troubles Jenn.

Life is not fair. That is for sure.

I recently loss my job of 14 years and we are hurting as well.
To top it off I am going into surgery next Wednesday for blockage in my artery on my right leg.
THANKFULLY my wife has the Health Insurance!
It still will keep me from finding any kind of work until I am fully healed...

BUT, my wife still works and makes a fair living.
We always remind ourselves that things are tough but, we are more fortunate then many others.

I sincerly will put my thoughts toward you and yours!

Thank you Avid and Old Dood!
I could use all the good vibes I can get right now.
One positive step seems to be finding this forum, I don't feel so alone now.
Others are going through the same things and the people here seem very supportive and kind.
Good luck to you with your surgery Old Dood,
I hope its a speedy recovery. Love and Light to you both.

Here is a photo of a BP/Amoco station in Lansing, Michigan yesterday after noon.
It was only 'up' for a few hours but it still was ILLEGAL in this state to price gouge.
The Attorney General will have this owners hide in the form of a very stiff fine.

EDIT: Thank you Jenn for the kind words. You are welcome. Keep your head up. People DO CARE even if it doesn't feel like it.
Remember if you 'Need' something then be willing to 'Give'. That really works in my opinion.

I drive a little unknown car called a Honda Insight hybrid (the first one in '99).

I average ~75-85mpg from petrol and get ~550 milers from 33 Litres of 95octane. The best I've got is 106mpg over 70 miles hypermiling.

It saves me about £500 a year over my focus TDCi I had before but I'm consider selling all my cars (I have two gas guzzler cars from before my awakening) as I'm hoping free energy will come out soon
