View Full Version : Facebook, fleecing the masses

I have been engaged in a very disheartening private discourse with my close friends regarding the current movement of social networking, and thought perhaps folks in this forum may have some insight.

Here are some bits of information that have fallen out of our mental flocculation of the subject, I do not know if all of these points are true facts, so please do inform me if I am ignorant of valuable information, and please excuse the sloppy train of thought;

Facebook,
Started and grown by NSA sponsored venture capitol firms
Ex NSA now running Facebook
NSA started as a disinformation service to cold war america
NSA has more supercomputers in one location then any other institution in the US
NSA watches all the internet

Facebook mining data from the collective social group, demographic groups etc;

A relatively benign example of this would be mining the text from twitter, looking for correlations between negative words and stock market decline, or positive words and stock market increases. Being 24 hours ahead of the buy/sell in the stock market is a very valuable place to be.

Completely plausible and being done right now!

Why does this matter?

Imagine a control group using the mined information to understand and manipulate the general populace. why not? In fact it is actually a brilliant social control mechanism.

What is even more amazing....we voluntarily report our demographics, our feelings, thoughts and aspirations, on a DAILY BASIS!

When the masses get upset, placate them, when the masses are hungry, feed them, when the masses are numb...fleece them.

When we discuss struggles for control over the worlds populations, I can easily make the argument that the struggle for power is being played out right now in the fight to be part of Facebook. Not only does it cross national and racial boundaries, it crosses social boundaries as well. It is right in front of our eyes! Just read the business section of any mass media outlet.

Thoughts?

Yes, It's a sad affair this Internet snooping or the fear of it. Every hear of a "quantum virus"? Never think you can hide from them, even if you don't even connect to the web they can CONTROL your computer. So what is a Human suppose to do? Just speak the Truth, and they will not listen. Feel fear and they will listen.

So your friends were saying Facebook is the ant's pants? In my view, you are correct and they are obviously misguided.

People have been harping about Facebook for quite a while now. To me, it is nothing more than a tool to connect with friends, family and so forth.

It's starting to lose its' appeal but without it, I'd have no way to contact certain people unless I knew their email addresses, etc.

I have no idea how involved the NSA and/or any of the other alphabet agencies are with facebook and other social networks. The question of whether or not the internet being monitored and data-mined is pretty much a no-brainer. Of course it is, in fact there's a publicly available ap which allows this http://universe.daylife.com/. Groups and individuals which seek to control others will use this info toward that end. Groups and individuals which seek to connect and work together with others will use this info toward that end. The overall effects of social networking have been far more positive than negative, from my perspective. Also, the only way to keep Big Brother out of your life would be to live in complete isolation (probably several thousand feet underground). That doesn't have a very good cost/benefit ratio, imho.

I would be more concerned about google than anything else. Google by their own admission want to be the prime information gatherer on the planet. Everytime you visit a web page, you leave an electronic trace that can be directly identified with your computer IP. Websites also leave cookies in your browser's cache that can monitor and send data back to the host. Every single person that uses the net leaves an electronic trace, even if you use a proxy. All kinds of bots, trackers, interceptors, keyloggers and crawlers can invade your browser and record any kind of personal data that can 'phone home' without you knowing.

Google want to know everything about as many people as possible. They also have a vast network of computers that can anylise the huge amount of data that is collected. Every, page, you search for, the site you visit, image you download and youtube you view. They can track. Google is the largest search engine and they can also see trends and extract search terms for analysis. If you have a gmail account, have you ever noticed the ads that come up in the sidebar? Have you noticed that they coincide with the subject discussed in your email? That's because they can scan electronically for keywords used in your emails and serve ads to match that keyword list. It also means they are quite capable of actually reading your private emails.

I run a number of websites and I can also track who visits my sites. How they found my site, Where they come from, the language they speak and every page they visit. How long they spend on each page and where they go to after they leave. There is nothing unusual about this and any good statistics package can do it. So

If you posted something 2 years ago and you deleted it later, chances are it is still available on the wayback machine here http://www.archive.org/ Even old websites are still available on this website. Did you also know that if you totally reformat your hard drive, the old data can still be recovered? Did you know that every electromagnetic imprint leaves a permanant trace, indefinitely? Even those so called file shredders are totally useless. All that data can collected and be reassembled.

Put simply, if you use the internet, or any computer, all your activity is potentially wide open to scrutiny and analysis, if someone really wants to know.

It's very hard to reemain anonymous on the net, although with knowhow it is nearly possible.

Whatever nefarious plan has been hatched to control humanity via social sites, Google, etc., seem to be backfiring, along with everything else these neer-do-wells are up to. That which you raise up to hurt or harm another has an inevitability cycle in which the very Pandora's Box item you've unleashed can no longer be controlled by the Unleasher.

I'm learning to appreciate FB for its capacity to transcend time, culture, country, locale, and even Controller control (via proxies) in its creation of a consciousness gestalt that is greater than the sum of its parts. It is proving itself exceedingly helpful to humanity at this juncture in time. So, thank you, NSA, for your considerate creation of humanity's new-found world-linked voice.

yeah, even though FB is popular...i don't see it captivating us for all of time, it's a trend...it's just because all our buddies from high school are on it. if the alphabet agencies want to see me tagged in photos taking jello shots, they are probably not that amused with my life. not saying they should be able to, but it's foolish to think they can't monitor anything they want on cell phones and even track your spending habits, which are way more evasive than seeing my FB page. monitoring google on the other hand does scare me, especially if they can lock onto your computer's server and grab your history. it's like looking at your library check-outs and making assumptions on your behavior.

My point of view about the internet, facebook, twitter, my space, ...etc.
I am certain that all data are kept, collected and mechanically (minimally) studied. In business, sales and marketing, this is called data mining. An expensive way to use all kind of information from different sources (internet visitors of different sites - yours and competitors - yes spying on them - being a major source), recouping them, listing them, then building a targetted sales and/or marketing strategy approach - gosh, only for advertising they know what is going on in he four household around your own! Imagine now these data with super super computer that government agencies have, what they can do with it to control crowds, make strategic planning for the masses, etc etc.
As Fred said in another post, better accept being an open book, cause they know anyhow! And they use it!

Its a bit of a coincidence that when using you tube the other day, i got a message saying 'your security is at risk please give us your phone number so we can text you your password in case you forget it.'
I then logged on to Facebook and got a similar message 'give us your mobile numb er so we can keep you safe'. (no thanks)
Now when i use Facebook it says 'at risk, security very low.'
Next they will want my fingerprints (for my own security of course)

Did you hear YouTube, Twitter and Facebook all merged to form a new social network?

It's called YouTwitFace.

(Heard that on Prairie Home Companion last weekend)

silvervioletrubie
29th January 2011, 07:10
I Googled "YouTwitFace" on my super phone and then the stockmarket crashed!

It seems like the social networking tools are taking over. 15 years ago, what is happening today was considered science fiction.

Social networks give us the ability to interact quickly with "our group consciousness", time seems to slow down with so much input from our friends and family. This is a powerful tool that we can use to expand our minds and expand many positive aspects of our humanity. But it clearly has a price, our individuality becomes normalized and our independence is lost in the mass data cloud. We may find other great truths in this new "ether", but I personally do not want to lose my independence. I don't want to lose the belief that the next idea or opinion I have could be magical, and could be anything, and could be all that without telling anybody about it. Only I know where my cookies are....and I like it that way

Regardless of how we feel about social networking it is clearly engrossing our days, our hours, our minutes. And they engage a large portion of the worlds population, crossing traditional boundaries like national borders and race. Things that can do that are very powerful tools, and currently they are controlled by power driven institutions, not spiritual leaders or community healers, or neighborhood friends or....this raises the hair on the back of my head.

Another interesting discussion by MIT professors on social networking and our children's lack of understanding in regards to what it means to have privacy.

The video is really a audio clip, so don't expect to see much, however the discussion is well worth the five minute interlude.....

Here is an interview discussing the monetary trail of the CIA in regards to data mining, this is also the same pathway that was used to develop facebook. If you think the CIA is not seriously involved in internet mining, this interview is a must see. This video is from 2009, wonder what they are doing now?

I have my own story with FaceBook (FB). In brief, around 2007 or 2008 I had it for about 4 - 6 months. I found some horror stories from others in mainstream media; I researched and found some supporting facts.

During this time, FB had suspended my account because I was using my online alias (guess what it was). Through email, I asked to have it back and eventually they reposted it - with all my true information, which I never gave.

When I attempted to cancel (permanently delete) it I was told they couldn't; I was told, 'it is against the law'. Eventually, they did, or claimed they did, however, they own everything that was ever posted... even the private emails.

The video below may be a start...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpLNlSKugHw

The internet is humankind's greatest invention, the largest library known in modern times. Why is it acceptable that it is being polluted with nonsense and stuff like FB - how would people react if the local public library started allowing drum lessens to take place during hours of operation?

As for keeping in touch with friends - call me, email me, or better yet come over and visit. For those long lost friends... there was a reason for that.

Perhaps.......

Bilderberg group or whomever,..... is using social networking as a tool to fulfill their agendas....while the masses happily instigate change in hopes that their future will be better. Time will tell, but something about the social uprisings in Egypt and elsewhere has a taste of long term orchestration.

Meanwhile the founder of Facebook hob-knobs with Obama in San Francisco, another pawn in the power elites circle.

On another note; Why do we need to see our leaders on Oprah anyway? It is a sad reflection of ourselves that this is true. The political puppets themselves are not engaging enough for us, so they make them dance.

Yes, I have never been on facebook, and as long as I can stay away from Mr Alzheimer I have no intention to sign up with it.

I am convinced that the authorities knows what they need to know about me without beeing in this social porno magazin. LOL

I just do what I can to avoid to play their game on their conditions. I have a good cellphone and its good enough to stay

in contact with those relatives and friends I want to stay in contact with, LOL

Thank you for posting this and mostly for this YouTube video. Last summer a distant relative of mine contacted me and invited me to join face book so all our relatives could connect. I did and posted some pictures and news of new family members, etc etc.

I soon learned details of their lives was there to read & see. Personal info that I would not share with anyone. A couple of weeks later I ran across information the same as in this video. I removed everything leaving only my name. I tried to warn the others of the risk. They thought I was nuts. Never-the-less, I never went back to face book again. People need to wake up to the fact that nothing is safe on the Internet.

Even with this forum I continue to be surprised how many are still under a belief that our government etc are looking out for citizens. Nothing could be further than the truth. Those low in the pyramids may be ok, but those above those that collect data are not. In reality....the truth is exactly the opposite to what most of our people believe. Emma

This is a very interesting interview with whistleblower scientist Lauren Moret concerning Google.

She says that Google Microsoft Facebook Skype Paypal and ebay are an integrated network under the control of US Military and Navy operatives. Google are conducting DNA surveys from space, tracking people by electromagnetic frequency emitted by each individual's unique DNA.

There's another interview with her on the Conscious Media Network in which she asserts that Google are identifying DNA to assist with a program of selective population reduction. That was my understanding of the interview anyway. Be warned though,.... its not exactly uplifting listening! :faint2:

People don't realize that there is no longer privacy in this world. Almost everything anyone want to know about you.. Heck even a lot of stuff you have forgotten about you is out there for people to get their hands on.

Facebook and social media the connect people of like interests who are spread out around the world . Have this really interesting effect of replacing real human contact . Remember duality . That something ment to connect and bring people together also separates them. Despite all this social media. More and more people feel isolated.

You Tube and Facecrook are not going anywhere they will be around because they are useful tools they like to use against the unkowing public. So instead of crying the blues about it get ready to make use of them to your benefit . They are going to be your media to the world so you can report actual events with out the spin MSM throws at things . We all have camera`s and phones with abilities to take video or pics so use them post it let the world know what`s happening .

I agree "Northern boy", and to follow what "HORIZONS" has stated, "this is a social network, only on a much deeper level", lets figure out how to use the information systems to our benefit. This forum is a great start, the next question is what else can we do with easy access to information...? Something that is in line with our agenda, not theirs? I am willing to create a new approach to the world using the available tools....the question is what do we do? Contemplation and understanding is hopefully only the first part of a long journey.
