Considering how much time I spend on places like Avalon, this item seems to jump out at me but may seem entirely logical to your average reader.

Maybe it's just me but are they worried about satellites being taken out?
Or about Reagans famous attack from space?

Reaching out on a global scale to mititarize space? And pretty arogant to say its like air, land, and sea! I see many problems with this, both on earth and out in space.

I believe they're setting the stage for a major performance here. Perhaps its a two part investment. First of all it will strengthen our stronghold in the race for space dominance. It will also help fuel the ET invasion BS they're about to try to shove down our throats. ( sorry for the slight rant) ;)

When the Reagan's administration wanted to build some kind of space war satellite defense, I don't recall now how they call it, I know Reagan had a visit of a representatives of the outer worlds and they told him that we can do inside a stratosphere whatever we want, but outside this there the end of our domain, the space is not ours and every attempt to militarize space missions will be aborted.
After that, if you carefully follow the space missions, there were quite a lot of them which mysteriously ended without any believable explanation.
So US Army has a reason to seek for public support to be able to expand and justify their expansion.

if there is nothing to worry about in space the here is a link you might want to check out!!!! it has a list of 7-10 different U.S. space commands. why spend that much money for people dealing with space if there is no reason to worry or defend by our military?????

please bear with me i never inserted a link before so it might take me a couple times thanks.

this would be wastful money then if we dont really need these departments of space defense.

there is just one thing retired gen. Chilton has forgot to mention, the USA is financially broke. For me it is my feeling that they fear of falling behind, militarily, geo-politically, technologically, ect. towards the end of the article there was a quote from an 'expert' talking about needing 'rules' for space-faring nations, and my first thought is; oh now you want rules, but before you didn't want rules what changed.

The piece at the end is the part that i find significant:
Quote/
The U.S. also needs to make it known that even if another nation attacks an American satellite, the U.S. military response wouldn't be limited to a space-based action, officials said. It could turn to any of its warfighting capabilities.
End quote/

I wonder what they have in mind.......

Thanks OP
