Guys - and especially you sun guys who know all about the sun.

I just watched this video which was a bit, OMFG!!

Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTjituREsHg

Do you know if this is real.
I don't understand those sun pictures at all.

Anxiously awaiting response.

OK - it is down - and his subscribers are asking 'what's up???'

Just to explain - he had up a solar site with 3 (I think) pictures of the sun and the sun was all purple and he wwas saying that the sun was ecliped and he sounded freaked out in a just holding it together sort of way.

I was thinking if it was true one of you sun guys would know where to go to check. It's sunset here so I can't go and look at the sun myself.

Oh sh*t, Mondaze - I liked my take on it w-a-a-a-a-a-ay better.

Bit hard to hide that the sun's eclipsed, though.

Go outside people and tell me how the sun looks if you would - not you antipodeans :)

OK - I can't find anything anywhere about the sun eclipsing.

I wish I'd waited a little longer before I posted, but the video had been up for 15 minutes already. Anyway - it really pushed my buttons and I was hoping someone could verify.

Sorry guys - hopefully it was just one really big boo boo.

Oh Ulli - you cheered me up sooo much with your post. I was sitting here being all, "OMG, it's all true, it's the end of the world, the sun's eclipsed, it's a sign of the apocalypse OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (I did mention the video really put the wind up me, right?)

and you come in like a petal on the breeze saying "naughty naughty, the end of the world is just going to have to wait, we have work to do."

Had another look at your signature. You might want to upgrade it in these trying times, and say something like:

Some people are happy to settle for the mundane. Me? I want the truth AND I WANT HAPPINESS.
Anyway, that's what I want, and not only for myself....I want happiness for all the nations.

So...if something eclipsed the sun -people would notice, right?

Especially looking at those sun pictures - it looks like a pretty big coverage. It should look like night, shouldn't it?

That question was directed at anybody who really has a clue because it's 9pm and my husband already thinks I'm a total conspiracy nutjob and I don't want to have to tell him I'm going out at 9pm to buy a torch unless it's likely I'm going to need it.

Teakai, the sun looks very white but whole from where I am. however, as dawn began to break, my birds faced where the sun was rising and didnt cockle doo as usual, just went nuts like there was a fox around.

Never done that at dawn before, could have just been a coincidence...

The area has a lot of broken cloud around but for this time of the day at this time of year here, it does seem rather warm.

Blessings

Well - it seems really weird that SOHO shows a solar eclipse, but no one notices.

I can only think that it was a view from a different angle of the sun rather than from the earth view.

Thank you Rakmeister for all the effort you've put in - if you find something important, would you explain it in layman's terms, because I'm very untechnical.

Everybody - stop looking at the sun (unless you want to). I'll feel awfully guilty if you all burn your retinas out. If it does go strangely dark all of a sudden - let us know, OK?

Funny, you came to the right conclusion having used the wrong info.
1)Eclipse of the earth on the sun? That would mean an even bigger, brighter sun behind us, and still the sun's radiance not functioning in that area.
2)Neither the moon nor Mercury are near the sun.

Which leaves option #3) How about making a totally different assumption, and suggesting that the data was falsified, by either the sender, or some other disinfo agent that the sender himself had fallen prey to.

We just can't be careful enough....

I couldn't even tell the date on it, it was so blurry.

Have been seeing this around all morning, I CAN confirm that the Sun IS out here in the UK and was at that time, however I am inclined to think it is some malfunction OR something moving in front of the camera..
But it takes a full HOUR from 6.45 to 7.45, as the images are taken every 15 minutes for what ever happen to occur.

The sun is definitely shining here in the UK. Nothing wrong with the sun, question is, is someone in NASA stirring the pot or was it a glitch or did something take an hour to pass in front of the camera lens??
this is N~OT the first time it has happened, twice in the last few months, one just recently, almost like something big enough to pass in front of the sun actually did pass in front of the satellite...

this is N~OT the first time it has happened, twice in the last few months, one just recently, almost like something big enough to pass in front of the sun actually did pass in front of the satellite...

Whatever happened would have occurred over 6 hours ago.
The video shows that at 06:45 UT (GMT) full sun.
07:00 total blackout.
07:15 total blackout.
07:30 half the sun showing.
07:45 full sun.
If something did pass between us and the sun then it wold have lasted between 30-45 minutes.
For our moon to eclipse the sun has never taken more than 7 minutes 29 seconds.
The further out towards the sun the object would have to be much much bigger than our moon, the passing would take longer and the shadow being larger would cover a bigger portion of earth.
But there have been no reports of any eclipse being 'seen'. Unless of course those areas were completely overcast, but still you would notice darkness.

I'm going with torzbc on this. But it's more likely something being covered up....

Just as a thought and with no scientific knowledge on my part, if something past infront of the sun; would there not be something still visible somewhere?
I mean, if it was there earlier, it must still be in the sky????

Oh my word! I wish I could have seen that vid. I have not read about this as I write and as of the sun going down (actually about 2 hours before the sun was going down) - I hadn't read this post. Was in the back yard, thin layer of cloud (nothing unusual) but the sun looked a strange yellow - I mean - it wasn't a normal colour. I fobbed it off as being my imagination that it looked something like an eclipse in colour. Now I'm wondering???

Not sure what the position of the sun was when this was posted in relation to my location, but...

At 12:00 midnight CA time last night, I walked outside and saw something very odd. I couldnt photgraph is, because my phone wasnt picking it up. Imagine tye moon at my 11:00, at my 2:00 position in the sky was a giant "cloud" formation of about 20 perfectly straigh lines, ranging in length, with a purpleish hue. Looked like a giant wooden venetian blind in the sky.

Hi folks!

I saw this thread earlier and have now returned to ponder upon it a little, and this thought just hit me:

The images of the sun, if I am not completely off, are collected by Stereo A and Stereo B at a particular angle, then the images A+B are united to form a unified singular composite image. Now, my thiniking is this: If for some reason Stereo A or B should not transmit an imagine, the final composite image would be missing about a half (dx or sx, whichever it is), right??? Maybe that is what has happened???

Just for curiosity, I looked at the Stereo site, and you can see where the Stereo A and B are right now....both Mercury and Venus are near.... maybe one of the planets crossed in front of the sat???

Now I'm learning something new. I wrongly assumed the images of the sun were coming in direct line from Earth. So of course we would'nt see an eclipse.

Edit to add:"But", said Nancy Drew to her friend Beth, "did you notice the date on that report?"
"Why, that's only today!" said Bess.
"Yes. It's possible that it has been put up to mislead us."
"Wow." said Bess, looking at Nancy with admiration shining from her halycon blue eyes. Bess never failed to be impressed by Nancy's ability to solve any mystery. "Why do you think so, Nancy?"
"Because of the mysterious behaviour when the sun went dark. Why were the images interrupted and taken down - only to be replaced by dated images? And those images are no longer able to be accessed at the site. It's awfully suspicious."
"What do we do now, Nancy?"
"What we're going to have to do is to check this every night and see if it happens again."
"That's a great idea," said Bess. "When shall we start?"
"Tonight. You take the first shift, Bess. I'll take over in the morning so you can get some rest. If it does happen again tonight the mystery will be solved"

Hi everyone. I spoke to my friend last night who lives further up north from us here in London UK. He too was up at the crack of dawn, the morning started bright, then went very dark around 7:30am. He unfortuneately didn't think of going outside to see what was happening; after a while the day brightened up again.
My hubby was up at this time, he too said the morning started normal and then became so dark he had to turn on the house lights for around 15 mins. This is all very curious! I am enjoying everyones posts on this subject. Thanks.

Update: Just spoke to another friend who lives in London - she too noticed how the early morning yesterday turned very dark around the same time.

Update 2: Spoke to my friend who lives on the boarder of Wales - she too witnessed everything going dark that early morning. So that reports now from the South to the West and going towards the North of UK. Anyone in Scotland witness it???

Hi Teakai, Thank you for all your imput on this thread i so apprecitate it. I am not a scientist, yet i have just had a flash thought. I read a book years ago called 'Shadowlands - Quest for Mirror Matter in the Universe by Robert Foot. If my memory serves me correctly it said something like our space is filled with planets BUT 80-90% of them were made of Mirror Matter and we humans cannot see them. I was just wondering if this Mirror Matter might have something to do with what happened yesterday with the Sun? Just a wild thought. Hopefully someone here has a scientific mind to fill in the gaps.

EDIT: Here is the blurb on the back of the book.
“Nearly 50 years ago it was discovered that the fundamental particles, such as the electron and proton have ‘left-handed’ interactions – they do not respect mirror symmetry. This experimental fact motivates the idea that a set of ‘mirror particles’ exist. The left-handedness of the ordinary particles can then be balanced by the right-handedness of the mirror particles.
In this way mirror reflection symmetry can exist but requires something profoundly new. It requires the existence of a completely new form of matter called ‘mirror matter’. Remarkably mirror matter is capable of simply explaining a large number of contemporary puzzles in astrophysics and particle physics. The evidence ranges from observations suggesting that most of the matter in the Universe is invisible, to unexpected properties of ghostly particles called ‘neutrinos’.

A bit about the orbit of the SDO

Orbit

* The rapid cadence and continuous coverage required for SDO observations led to placing the satellite into an inclined geosynchronous orbit. This allows for a nearly-continuous, high-data-rate, contact with a single, dedicated, ground station.
* Nearly continuous observations of the Sun can be obtained from other orbits, such as low Earth orbit (LEO). If SDO were placed into an LEO it would be necessary to store large volumes of scientific data onboard until a downlink opportunity. The large data rate of SDO, along with the difficulties in managing a large on-board storage system, resulted in a requirement of continuous contact.
* The disadvantges of this orbit include higher launch and orbit acquisition costs (relative to LEO) and eclipse (Earth shadow) seasons twice annually, During these 2-3 week eclipse periods, SDO will experience a daily interruption of solar observations. There will also be three lunar shadow events each year from this orbit.
* This orbit is located on the outer reaches of the Earth’s radiation belt where the radiation dose can be quite high. Additional shielding was added to the instruments and electronics to reduce the problems caused by exposure to radiation. Because this a a Space Weather effect, SDO is affected by the very processes it is designed to study!

Thanks Realeyes - it rather boggles the mind, doesn't it? A far cry to what we have been taught.

Recently I came across plasma cosmology about it being an electric universe - they say that the sun isn't a huge ball of fire at all - that if it was there wouldn't be dark spots on it.
They say that the sun's magnetics attract the heat and light from something else in the universe. I'm wondering if maybe something blocked the trasnfer of those currents to the sun and that's why it went dark. But that would assume that the currents were coming from the top of the sun rather than all over it.

Anyway - they say the electric universe theory explains so much about the universe that the theory we have at the moment leaves unanswered.

I'll try and find the electric universe video and post it here when I do.

I have not heard about the above yet it sounds very interesting and I look forward to when you find the info and post it. It sounds like another possible theory to look into. :drum:

I liked the guy on your latest link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0gDbWnLIdY&feature=player_embedded who’s personal theory was that the Sun could have turned ultraviolet! Again a possible theory and another mind spinner of great potentials as my thoughts spin towards the blue Suns of the Pleiades and Andromeda where evolved Civilisations dwell. :rapture:

My mind is also spinning with the possibility that this may have been some very large body made out of either Mirror Matter or Dark Matter that could have somehow absorbed/deflected? the Light of the Sun.

So far, three great mind spinners – I am sure there will be more to spin with – LOL! :juggle:

Thank you again for the great links – I so appreciate it. It sure is a grand mystery just waiting to be understood!

I found the movie, Realeyes - it's called Thunderbolts of the Gods:
The whole thing is interesting - but the specific part about the sun starts at about the 36 minute mark. At the 27 minute mark it talks about pulses and binary systems connected by plasma - and that might be some kind of answer to what happened with the sun.

I'm not sure how relevant this is in regard to the sun darkening, but I'm putting it up in case it might be. As a matter of interest, Ancient Romans worshipped saturn as a harvest god - (harvesting of what?). Saturn is also considerd to be Satan or Lucifer.
The wagon wheel or wreath symbolises the cycles.

Is this guy onto something? Where is Saturn now?

One thing bugs me about the usage of STEREO pictures as proof of anything:
It's satellites, communications with them can be disrupted and corrupted.

Also, some of the videos showing this eclipse looks to me to be differences in filter applied to the pictures. Colors indicate different spectrums of light and/or radiation. So why is it that on the confirmed proof of eclipsing, the yellow filtered sun clearly shows blue filtered light when the sun is supposed to be eclipsed?

Digital means of proof is to me very bad proof, as there is too many ways to manipulate, mislead and corrupt what you are presented.
Research is of course called for, but I think the sensationalism of it all is non-existant until we possess some more reliable evidence.

My take on it at least....oh and I didn't notice anything unusual with the sun on the mentioned day.
