View Full Version : You'll never walk alone.

I've been running through whether to actually start this thread or not.
the title is a song that is sung by liverpool football club supporters at nearly every game.
in my view this is the possibly the best song thats ever been adopted by a clubs fans.
but its much more than that.
its an ideal.
no matter how bad the team does, no matter what the trials of life,
this song is above all that. it unites people.
to hear 40 000 people sing it always gives me goosebumps. it was playing at my step dads funeral as i carried his coffin.

where i'm going is, i am commited to the ideal.
there is nothing that will ever break my bond with it. nothing.
even if all seems lost, i have faith that a phoenix will rise from the ashes.

likewise, i have faith in this site. i respect the ideal.
where it comes from is a place that cant be touched by the ups and downs of life.
there are still some here, who are intent on antagonism, and who show little regard for others,
and their right to their opinions and who choose to openly disrespect others who have contributed to Avalon.

I am not one of those people.

so instead of reading and responding to abusive posts,
i choose now to do something to redress the balance.

i pledge,

to support avalon and its ideals,
to give due consideration to anything i write,
to respect views that are opposed to my own
(responding with reason instead of personal attacks)
to respect this place and its members as if it were my home.

i will not antagonise people/situations
i will not disrespect anyone here, either openly or on the sly
i will not post unfounded smears against other members
and i will not inject negativity into threads that i dont agree with.

this will not change.

if you feel a need to reply, please be my guest.
in the mean time, here is the song.

best wishes for the future

Hi Steve,

Yes my son, once the Kop gets in full throttle, there's nothing better (not even the West Ham United supporters) ;)

I was talking to someone here in Brazil about the Beatles. It's funny how over here they consider the Beatles the only group around during the Mersey Beat era. I did a little thinking and a quick reccy and found a whole host of other bands who were quite popular at the same time, of course Gerry and the Pacemakers was one of them, although I prefer Ferry Cross the Mersey, for some reason I remember that song better.

As for respect, I totally agree with you, in the forum we must respect each and every one, no matter what our private views may be. But remember, asking tough questions is not being disrespectful, it's merely asking tough questions and there's nothing wrong with that in my books. What I find a waste of time reading are personal attacks and back biting based on zero. I think many people can't seem to see the difference between good debate and mud slinging.

Give my regards to Mr. Hayley when you see him. ;)

Best regards,

You wouldn't believe how many people support Liverpool in Istanbul because of this great supporter song - and their legendary European Cup championship in Istanbul final back in 2005.

This season was bad for them though - just like our collective 3D experience lately.

But yes, we'll never walk alone. Thanks Ska!
