LOL,

Hi all,

Just wanted to see what you thought about baby talk. these two tots seem to be having a very interesting conversation. TBH, I think they are using their psychic abilities (the ability we forgot how to use) while using the vibrational sound of the mouth to give emphasis to their discussion. cute little guys made my day...

You might be right^^

I don’t know either…but after further examination…I think they are talking about a missing sock. haha

This reminds me of the movies “Looks who’s talking” and “Baby Genius”.

Yeah...a missing sock. Lol. Maybe something like...

'Why don't you try letting go of the handle... look at me, I don't need it!'
'Oh yes I do actually'
'Well, just like it seemed like we would never be able to walk, we finally did it, didn't we?'
(giggle) 'Yeah, I guess..' (chuckle)
'We started out really small (gesturing), and we're going to grow all the way up!'
(excited) 'Wow! (giggles)
'Yeah, so you might as well just let go of that handle...and anyway, you know how Mum freaks when she sees you trying to open that thing...hey, what happened to your other sock?'...

There could be much more going on there than meets the eye. There could also be much less going on there than meets the eye. How would we know?

I think its quite obvious that their discussing politics.
One was concerned about the state of the World, the other was concerned about his missing sock :)

You surely made a mistake Hurritt Enyeto. You most probably meant

"One was concerned about the state of the World, the other was concerned about his missing sTock". Hi hi!

This is a good thought(the bolded one) that strikes a chord with me in terms of truth and reality. I think this is how we spoke at some point. Or how some beings early in development speak throughout the universe(who do not yet have full telepathy for whatever reason). Emphasis on things we come, maybe, pre-installed with. I am curious about things we come pre-installed with. Is it DNA? Is it soul? Is it both?

Hehe, loved that. :becky:

I saw this last week and sent it to my twin sister. She said:- "Yep, resonates with me."
I laughed so loud because I could relate to the video and it brought back so many memories.
When we were small, we had developed our own language too, well into the 5 year old stage, frustrating everyone around us. Our mother remembers a couple of the words that we used for certain things. eg. anything that was round or rolled was a "pulu". No idea how to spell that btw. ;)
I have no memories, now, of the language we used but can definitely say that there is a special "connection" between us and we understood then, as we do now, exactly what the other is saying and/or not saying. :)

Response to Chicodoodoo's comment on "more or less / how can we know what's going on?"

Language formation in children, whatever their first language, follows a pretty standard pattern (google child language develoment for details)

In brief, cooing is the first stage where they get the vowel sounds on-line and keep themselves fed and changed.

"Babbling" is the next stage where babies formulate "easy" phonemes and get the equipment working, as limited as it is (remember, no teeth makes fricative sounds like "th" impossible. I think these little guys are somewhere in that stage, though I am by no means a child language expert.

They do have, I think, plenty to "say" to each other, as any mother who knows her own child's "baby" language can attest to.

So, Chicodoodoo, I think both of your ideas are right--more and less is going on.

We can't know all they're saying, but we can see the standard patterns of language practice and formation. Pretty soon it will be single words, then "telescopic speech" of two or more words like "Mommy hug", "daddy go bye bye" Eventually, they will write a pop hit like the Police once did and retire wealthy twins. Childhood is so brief.

This reminds me of an incident in my son's childhood. He was about 1 1/2. He wandered out of our garden and off to the caravan park next door to us... (they had a swing set!).
We were so worried when we discovered he wasn't there, you can imagine the scene...

'Where's Hari?'
'I thought he was with you.'
'I thought he was with you!'

Luckily, we lived in a very small village and just as we emerged frantically through our front gate we saw with relief our son, returning with a kindly member of staff from the caravan site.

My son, now 16, still recalls telling me, using words, very clearly that he was bored and he really wanted to go to the caravan park. Of course, I remember no such conversation as this was well before he could 'speak'.

Lost in translation!
