Can anyone here shed some light on this article, published on the New Scientist website. This apparently happening at the North Pole as well.

What got me interested was the following quote:

"Felix Aharonian of the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies in Ireland and colleagues have suggested that there could be a "tube" of magnetic field lines extending between the source and our solar system, funnelling the cosmic rays towards us. However, Aharonian admits the theory is highly speculative".

Would this be related to our alignment with the center of the Milky Way?

Any info appreciated.

Here is the link Tahi, and a couple other references.. I think the alignments with Elenin the sun and the centre sure would cause some disturbance for us..
