"Eli Pariser of the progressive organization MoveOn says the Internet is hiding things from us, and we don't even know it.

In this TED Talk he calls out Facb, Gog. and other corporations who are transforming the Internet to suit their corporate interests."

Good to see that this info is getting into the mainstream.........

MoveOn wouldn't be possible without the open Internet. But according to our own Eli Pariser, the Internet itself is changing. His book on the topic, The Filter Bubble, comes out this week.
In March, the TED conference invited him to preview the argument. When I talked to Eli beforehand, he was really nervous. In the audience were top executives from Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and a number of other companies he critiques. But his call for an open, ethical Internet, he actually called out the Google founders and Bill Gates in the audience by names and got a standing ovation. And it's been burning up the TED website ever since.
We're sharing it today because we think it's a really important point. Increasingly, the Internet is hiding things from us, and we don't even know it. Take a moment to watch Eli's TED talk today:

I especially liked the idea of the gatekeepers in the broadcast-society being replaced by algorythms. It had a very logical construct of thinking in that statement. Net neutrality and what not, it does not matter to the general public, because they are already being neutralized not noticing they are missing out on other parts of the internet and thus indeed are being pushed into a bubble they don't know about. Maybe that is the factor of the internet that I don't like. Maybe that is where people are being cut off from their real world relations. If they are programming themselves only to see and hear what they themselves want to think and hear, than it will become harder to hear "everyone" around you say completely different things.

Thanks for posting.
