Build your inner environment. Practice Silence! I remember the
wonderful discipline of the Great Ones. When we used to talk and
chatter, they would say: "Go back into your inner castle." It was
very hard to comprehend then, but now I understand the way of peace

He, Yogananda was peace and love personified. He loved and respected his Guru so.
Looking forward to getting a daily dose of Yogananda medicine.

Really? I do hope so, because I don't have the money to move, lol. Thanks for the replies guys!

I've started this thread as I would like to contribute to this wonderful community, in my own small way. So I'm hoping so post a quote a day. Not just Yogananda, inspirational quotes too.

Yes I love to get some moments of silence, its hard in the city. My back yard its the closest to nature I can get for now. Love going out there late and just staring at the skies looking at the stars. Orion has been visible to me for months now. Lately its been fading not as bright. Its the most peacefulness I can get right now.

Would love some more spiritual quotes and inspiration. Thanks for starting this thread!

Hey Kriya. If you believe that than it will be true. But it seems an odd statement with Yogananda's photo next to it it lol, can you imagine him saying that? or would he sit down in meditation and allow the universe to provide?

March 20 Will Power

Remember, in your will lies the almighty power of God. When a host of difficulties comes and you refuse to give up in spite of all obstacles; when your mind becomes “set,” then you will find God responding to you.

Paramahansa Yogananda, “How You Can Talk With God”

PS If the word God gets stuck in your throat, substitute it for the word, 'source', creation etc...... Old fashioned these words may be, but true they still are.

Mind is the creator of everything. You should therefore guide it to create only
good. If you cling to a certain thought with dynamic will power, it finally assumes a tangible outward form. When you are able to employ your will always for constructive purposes, you become the controller of your destiny.

Through difficult daily lessons you will sometime see clearly that bad habits nourish the tree of unending material desires, whereas good habits nourish the tree of spiritual aspirations. More and more you should concentrate your efforts on successfully maturing the spiritual tree, that you may someday gather the ripe fruit of Self-realization.

I want to ply my boat, many times,
Across the gulf-after-death,
And return to earth’s shores
From my home in heaven.
I want to load my boat
With those waiting, thirsty ones
Who are left behind:
And carry them by the opal pool
Of iridescent joy—
Where my Father distributes
His all-desire-quenching liquid peace.
Oh! I will come again and again!
Crossing a million crags of suffering,
With bleeding feet, I will come-
If need be, a trillion times—
As long as I know
One stray brother is left behind.

Rather than be always striving for personal happiness, try to make others happy.
In being of spiritual, mental, and material service to others, you will find your own needs fulfilled. As you forget 'self' in service to others, you will find that, without seeking it, your own cup of happiness will be full.

I have had my Seat on the Self-poised One,
I have drunk of the Cup of the Ineffable,
I have found the Key of the Mystery,
I have reached the Root of Union.
Travelling by no track, I have come to the
Sorrowless Land: very easily has the mercy
of the great Lord come upon me.
They have sung of Him as infinite and unattainable:
But I in my meditations have seen Him without sight.
That is indeed the Sorrowless land, and none know
the path that leads there:
Only he who is on that path has surely transcended
all sorrow.

Happyness is such a shallow water. Aware and awake - YES, anytime, happy? rather not. Maybe for a break, but a short one, then let's get on with LIFE. I want to be content, and if I help other, than to be content too. Just BE yourself, in the truest sense that is all the help "others" need, if I may say so .... ZEN ZEST ZIP ZAP & ZING !

To love God in the most practical way is to love our fellow beings. If we
feel for others in the same way as we feel for our own dear ones, we love God.
If, instead of seeing faults in others, we look within ourselves, we are loving God.
If, instead of robbing others to help ourselves, we rob ourselves to help
others, we are loving God.
If we suffer in the sufferings of others and feel happy in the happiness
of others, we are loving God.
If, instead of worrying over our own misfortunes, we think of ourselves
more fortunate than many many others, we are loving God.
If we endure our lot with patience and contentment, accepting it as His
Will, we are loving God.
If we understand and feel that the greatest act of devotion and worship
to God is not to hurt or harm any of His beings, we are loving
To love God as He ought to be loved, we must live for God and die for
God, knowing that the goal of life is to Love God, and find Him as our own self.

Thought is an object
and therefore
cannot
illuminate itself.

And there can be no
comprehension of
both subject and object

An evolved consciousness
experiences one's own self
by the reflection of the changeless self
arising as the
field of consciousness.
In that form,
the self is known.

SAMADHI

Vanished the veils of light and shade,
Lifted every vapor of sorrow,
Sailed away all dawns of fleeting joy,
Gone the dim sensory mirage.
Love, hate, health, disease, life, death,
Perished these false shadows on the screen of duality.
Waves of laughter, scyllas of sarcasm, melancholic whirlpools,
Melting in the vast sea of bliss.
The storm of maya stilled
By magic wand of intuition deep.
The universe, forgotten dream, subconsciously lurks,
Ready to invade my newly wakened memory divine.
I live without the cosmic shadow,
But it is not, bereft of me;
As the sea exists without the waves,
But they breathe not without the sea.
Dreams, wakings, states of deep turiya sleep,
Present, past, future, no more for me,
But ever-present, all-flowing I, I, everywhere.
Planets, stars, stardust, earth,
Volcanic bursts of doomsday cataclysms,
Creation's molding furnace,
Glaciers of silent x-rays, burning electron floods,
Thoughts of all men, past, present, to come,
Every blade of grass, myself, mankind,
Each particle of universal dust,
Anger, greed, good, bad, salvation, lust,
I swallowed, transmuted all
Into a vast ocean of blood of my own one Being!
Smoldering joy, oft-puffed by meditation
Blinding my tearful eyes,
Burst into immortal flames of bliss,
Consumed my tears, my frame, my all.
Thou art I, I am Thou,
Knowing, Knower, Known, as One!
Tranquilled, unbroken thrill, eternally living, ever new peace!
Enjoyable beyond imagination of expectancy, samadhi bliss!
Not a mental chloroform
Or unconscious state without wilful return,
Samadhi but extends my conscious realm
Beyond the limits of the mortal frame
To farthest boundary of eternity
Where I, the Cosmic Sea,
Watch the little ego floating in me.
The sparrow, each grain of sand, fall not without my sight.
All space like an iceberg floats within my mental sea.
Colossal Container, I, of all things made.
By deeper, longer, thirsty, guru-given meditation
Comes this celestial samadhi
Mobile murmurs of atoms are heard,
The dark earth, mountains, vales, lo! molten liquid!
Flowing seas change into vapors of nebulae!
Aum blows upon the vapors, opening wondrously their veils,
Oceans stand revealed, shining electrons,
Till, at last sound of the cosmic drum,
Vanish the grosser lights into eternal rays
Of all-pervading bliss.
From joy I came, for joy I live, in sacred joy I melt.
Ocean of mind, I drink all creation's waves.
Four veils of solid, liquid, vapor, light,
Lift aright.
Myself, in everything, enters the Great Myself.
Gone forever, fitful, flickering shadows of mortal memory.
Spotless is my mental sky, below, ahead, and high above.
Eternity and I, one united ray.
A tiny bubble of laughter, I
Am become the Sea of Mirth Itself

From the depths of slumber,
As I ascend the spiral stairway of wakefulness,
I whisper:
God! God! God!
Thou art the food, and when I break my fast
Of nightly separation from Thee,
I taste Thee, and mentally say:
God! God! God!
No matter where I go, the spotlight of my mind
Ever keeps turning on Thee,
And in the battle din of activity my silent war-cry is ever:
God! God! God!
When boisterous storms of trials shriek
And worries howl at me,
I drown their noises, loudly chanting:
God! God! God!
When my mind weaves dreams
With threads of memories,
On that magic cloth I do emboss:
God! God! God!
Every night, in time of deepest sleep,
My peace dreams and calls: Joy! Joy! Joy!
And my joy comes singing evermore:
God! God! God!
In waking, eating, working, dreaming, sleeping,
Serving, meditating, chanting, divinely loving,
My soul constantly hums, unheard by any:
God! God! God!

To the yogi, Thou art bliss!
O God beautiful! O God beautiful!
At Thy feet, O I do bow!

April 11 Prayer

Though God hears all our prayers He does not always respond. Our situation is like that of a child who calls for his mother, but the mother does not think it necessary to come. She sends him a plaything to keep him quiet. But when the child refuses to be comforted by anything except the mother’s presence, she comes. If you want to know God, you must be like the naughty baby who cries till the mother comes.

Since you alone are responsible for your thoughts, only you can change them. You will want to change them when you realize that each thought creates according to its own nature. Remember that the law works at all times and that you are always demonstrating according to the kind of thoughts you habitually entertain. Therefore, start now to think only those thoughts that will bring you health and happiness.

If you want to reach a state of bliss, then go beyond your ego and the internal dialogue. Make a decision to relinquish the need to control, the need to be approved, and the need to judge. THE light of the sun, the moon, and
the stars shines bright : The melody of love swells forth, and
the rhythm of love's detachment
beats the time. Day and night, the chorus of music
fills the heavens ;
and Kabir says, " My Beloved One gleams like the
lightning flash in the sky."

Do you know how the moments perform their adoration ?
Waving its row of lamps, the universe sings in worship day and night,
There are the hidden banner and the secret canopy :
There the sound of the unseen bells is heard.
Kabir says : " There adoration never ceases ;
there the Lord of the Universe sitteth on His throne."

The whole world does its works and commits its errors :
but few are the lovers who know the Beloved.
The devout seeker is he who mingles in his heart the double currents of love and detachment,
like the mingling of the streams of Ganges and Jumna ;
In his heart the sacred water flows day and night ;
and thus the round of births and deaths is brought to an end.
Behold what wonderful rest is in the Supreme Spirit !
and he enjoys it, who makes himself meet for it.
Held by the cords of love, the swing of the Ocean of Joy sways to and fro ;
and a mighty sound breaks forth in song.
See what a lotus blooms there without water !
and Kabir says, " My heart's bee drinks its nectar."

What a wonderful lotus it is,
that blooms at the heart of the spinning wheel of the universe !
Only a few pure souls know of its true delight.
Music is all around it, and there the heart partakes of the joy of the Infinite Sea.
Kabir says : " Dive thou into that Ocean of sweetness :
thus let all errors of life and of death flee away."

Behold how the thirst of the five senses is quenched there !
and the three forms of misery are no more !
Kabir says : "It is the sport of the Unattainable One :
look within, and behold how the moonbeams of that Hidden One shine in you."

There falls the rhythmic beat of life and death : Rapture wells forth, and all space is
radiant with light. There the Unstruck Music is sounded ;
it is the music of the love of the three worlds.
There millions of lamps of sun and of moon are burning ;
There the drum beats, and the lover swings in play.
There love-songs resound, and light rains in showers ;
and the wor- shipper is entranced in the taste
of the heavenly nectar. Look upon life and death ;
there is no separation between them,
The right hand and the left hand are one and the same.
Kabir says : " There the wise man is speechless ;
for this truth may never be found in Vedas or in books."

I have had my Seat on the Self-poised One,
I have drunk of the Cup of the In- effable,
I have found the Key of the Mystery,
I have reached the Root of Union.
Travelling by no track, I have come to the Sorrowless Land :
very easily has the mercy of the great Lord come upon me.
They have sung of Him as infinite and unattainable :
but I in my meditations have seen Him without sight.
That is indeed the sorrowless land, and none know the path that leads there :
Only he who is on that path has surely transcended all sorrow.
Wonderful is that land of rest, to which no merit can win ;
It is the wise who has seen it, it is the wise who has sung of it.
This is the Ultimate Word : but can any express its marvellous savour ?
He who has savoured it once, he knows what joy it can give.
Kabir says : " Knowing it, the ignorant man becomes wise,
and the wise man becomes speechless and silent,

The worshipper is utterly inebriated,
His wisdom and his detachment are made perfect ;
He drinks from the cup of the in- breathings and the outbreathings of love."
There the whole sky is filled with sound, and there that music is made without fingers and without strings ;
There the game of pleasure and pain does not cease.
Kabir says : " If you merge your lifein the Ocean of Life, you will
find your life in the Supreme Land of Bliss."

What a frenzy of ecstasy there is in every hour !
and the worshipper is pressing out and drinking the essence of the hours :
he lives in the life of Brahma.
I speak truth, for I have accepted truth in life ;
I am now attached to truth, I have swept all tinsel away.
Kabir says : " Thus is the worshipper set free from fear ;
thus have all errors of life and of death left him."

There the sky is filled with music : There it rains nectar :
There the harp -strings jingle, and there the drums beat.
What a secret splendour is there, in the mansion of the sky !
There no mention is made of the rising and the setting of the sun ;
In the ocean of manifestation, which is the light of love, day and night are felt to be one.

Joy for ever, no sorrow, no struggle ! There have I seen joy filled to the
brim, perfection of joy ; No place for error is there. Kabir says :
" There have I witnessed the sport of One Bliss ! "
I have known in my body the sport of the universe :
I have escaped from the error of this world.
The inward and the outward are become as one sky,
the Infinite and the finite are united :
I am drunken with the sight of this All!
This Light of Thine fulfils the universe :
the lamp of love that burns on the salver of knowledge.
Kabir says : " There error cannot enter, and the conflict of life and death is felt no more."

Spiritual evolution occurs as the result of removing obstacles and not actually acquiring anything new. Devotion enables surrender of the mind's vanities and cherished illusions so that it progressively becomes more free and more open to the light of Truth.

The Science Of Kriya Yoga

The science of Kriya Yoga, mentioned so often in these pages, became widely known in modern India through the instrumentality of Lahiri Mahasaya, my guru's guru. The Sanskrit root of Kriya is kri, to do, to act and react; the same root is found in the word karma, the natural principle of cause and effect. Kriya Yoga is thus "union (yoga) with the Infinite through a certain action or rite." A yogi who faithfully follows its technique is gradually freed from karma or the universal chain of causation.

Because of certain ancient yogic injunctions, I cannot give a full explanation of Kriya Yoga in the pages of a book intended for the general public. The actual technique must be learned from a Kriyaban or Kriya Yogi; here a broad reference must suffice.

Kriya Yoga is a simple, psychophysiological method by which the human blood is decarbonized and recharged with oxygen. The atoms of this extra oxygen are transmuted into life current to rejuvenate the brain and spinal centers. 26-1 By stopping the accumulation of venous blood, the yogi is able to lessen or prevent the decay of tissues; the advanced yogi transmutes his cells into pure energy. Elijah, Jesus, Kabir and other prophets were past masters in the use of Kriya or a similar technique, by which they caused their bodies to dematerialize at will.

Kriya is an ancient science. Lahiri Mahasaya received it from his guru, Babaji, who rediscovered and clarified the technique after it had been lost in the Dark Ages.

"The Kriya Yoga which I am giving to the world through you in this nineteenth century," Babaji told Lahiri Mahasaya, "is a revival of the same science which Krishna gave, millenniums ago, to Arjuna, and which was later known to Patanjali, and to Christ, St. John, St. Paul, and other disciples."

Kriya Yoga is referred to by Krishna, India's greatest prophet, in a stanza of the Bhagavad Gita: "Offering inhaling breath into the outgoing breath, and offering the outgoing breath into the inhaling breath, the yogi neutralizes both these breaths; he thus releases the life force from the heart and brings it under his control." 26-2 The interpretation is: "The yogi arrests decay in the body by an addition of life force, and arrests the mutations of growth in the body by apan (eliminating current). Thus neutralizing decay and growth, by quieting the heart, the yogi learns life control."

Krishna also relates 26-3 that it was he, in a former incarnation, who communicated the indestructible yoga to an ancient illuminato, Vivasvat, who gave it to Manu, the great legislator. 26-4 He, in turn, instructed Ikshwaku, the father of India's solar warrior dynasty. Passing thus from one to another, the royal yoga was guarded by the rishis until the coming of the materialistic ages. 26-5 Then, due to priestly secrecy and man's indifference, the sacred knowledge gradually became inaccessible.

Kriya Yoga is mentioned twice by the ancient sage Patanjali, foremost exponent of yoga, who wrote: "Kriya Yoga consists of body discipline, mental control, and meditating on Aum." 26-6 Patanjali speaks of God as the actual Cosmic Sound of Aum heard in meditation. 26-7 Aum is the Creative Word, 26-8 the sound of the Vibratory Motor. Even the yoga-beginner soon inwardly hears the wondrous sound of Aum. Receiving this blissful spiritual encouragement, the devotee becomes assured that he is in actual touch with divine realms.

Patanjali refers a second time to the life-control or Kriya technique thus: "Liberation can be accomplished by that pranayama which is attained by disjoining the course of inspiration and expiration." 26-9

St. Paul knew Kriya Yoga, or a technique very similar to it, by which he could switch life currents to and from the senses. He was therefore able to say: "Verily, I protest by our rejoicing which I have in Christ, i die daily." 26-10 By daily withdrawing his bodily life force, he united it by yoga union with the rejoicing (eternal bliss) of the Christ consciousness. In that felicitous state, he was consciously aware of being dead to the delusive sensory world of maya.

In the initial states of God-contact (sabikalpa samadhi) the devotee's consciousness merges with the Cosmic Spirit; his life force is withdrawn from the body, which appears "dead," or motionless and rigid. The yogi is fully aware of his bodily condition of suspended animation. As he progresses to higher spiritual states (nirbikalpa samadhi), however, he communes with God without bodily fixation, and in his ordinary waking consciousness, even in the midst of exacting worldly duties. 26-11

"Kriya Yoga is an instrument through which human evolution can be quickened," Sri Yukteswar explained to his students. "The ancient yogis discovered that the secret of cosmic consciousness is intimately linked with breath mastery. This is India's unique and deathless contribution to the world's treasury of knowledge. The life force, which is ordinarily absorbed in maintaining the heart-pump, must be freed for higher activities by a method of calming and stilling the ceaseless demands of the breath."

The Kriya Yogi mentally directs his life energy to revolve, upward and downward, around the six spinal centers (medullary, cervical, dorsal, lumbar, sacral, and coccygeal plexuses) which correspond to the twelve astral signs of the zodiac, the symbolic Cosmic Man. One-half minute of revolution of energy around the sensitive spinal cord of man effects subtle progress in his evolution; that half-minute of Kriya equals one year of natural spiritual unfoldment.

The astral system of a human being, with six (twelve by polarity) inner constellations revolving around the sun of the omniscient spiritual eye, is interrelated with the physical sun and the twelve zodiacal signs. All men are thus affected by an inner and an outer universe. The ancient rishis discovered that man's earthly and heavenly environment, in twelve-year cycles, push him forward on his natural path. The scriptures aver that man requires a million years of normal, diseaseless evolution to perfect his human brain sufficiently to express cosmic consciousness.

One thousand Kriya practiced in eight hours gives the yogi, in one day, the equivalent of one thousand years of natural evolution: 365,000 years of evolution in one year. In three years, a Kriya Yogi can thus accomplish by intelligent self-effort the same result which nature brings to pass in a million years. The Kriya short cut, of course, can be taken only by deeply developed yogis. With the guidance of a guru, such yogis have carefully prepared their bodies and brains to receive the power created by intensive practice.

The Kriya beginner employs his yogic exercise only fourteen to twenty- eight times, twice daily. A number of yogis achieve emancipation in six or twelve or twenty-four or forty-eight years. A yogi who dies before achieving full realization carries with him the good karma of his past Kriya effort; in his new life he is harmoniously propelled toward his Infinite Goal.

The body of the average man is like a fifty-watt lamp, which cannot accommodate the billion watts of power roused by an excessive practice of Kriya. Through gradual and regular increase of the simple and "foolproof" methods of Kriya, man's body becomes astrally transformed day by day, and is finally fitted to express the infinite potentials of cosmic energy-the first materially active expression of Spirit.

Kriya Yoga has nothing in common with the unscientific breathing exercises taught by a number of misguided zealots. Their attempts to forcibly hold breath in the lungs is not only unnatural but decidedly unpleasant. Kriya, on the other hand, is accompanied from the very beginning by an accession of peace, and by soothing sensations of regenerative effect in the spine.

The ancient yogic technique converts the breath into mind. By spiritual advancement, one is able to cognize the breath as an act of mind-a dream-breath.

Many illustrations could be given of the mathematical relationship between man's respiratory rate and the variations in his states of consciousness. A person whose attention is wholly engrossed, as in following some closely knit intellectual argument, or in attempting some delicate or difficult physical feat, automatically breathes very slowly. Fixity of attention depends on slow breathing; quick or uneven breaths are an inevitable accompaniment of harmful emotional states: fear, lust, anger. The restless monkey breathes at the rate of 32 times a minute, in contrast to man's average of 18 times. The elephant, tortoise, snake and other animals noted for their longevity have a respiratory rate which is less than man's. The tortoise, for instance, who may attain the age of 300 years, 26-12 breathes only 4 times per minute.

The rejuvenating effects of sleep are due to man's temporary unawareness of body and breathing. The sleeping man becomes a yogi; each night he unconsciously performs the yogic rite of releasing himself from bodily identification, and of merging the life force with healing currents in the main brain region and the six sub-dynamos of his spinal centers. The sleeper thus dips unknowingly into the reservoir of cosmic energy which sustains all life.

The voluntary yogi performs a simple, natural process consciously, not unconsciously like the slow-paced sleeper. The Kriya Yogi uses his technique to saturate and feed all his physical cells with undecaying light and keep them in a magnetized state. He scientifically makes breath unnecessary, without producing the states of subconscious sleep or unconsciousness.

By Kriya, the outgoing life force is not wasted and abused in the senses, but constrained to reunite with subtler spinal energies. By such reinforcement of life, the yogi's body and brain cells are electrified with the spiritual elixir. Thus he removes himself from studied observance of natural laws, which can only take him-by circuitous means as given by proper food, sunlight, and harmonious thoughts-to a million-year Goal. It needs twelve years of normal healthful living to effect even slight perceptible change in brain structure, and a million solar returns are exacted to sufficiently refine the cerebral tenement for manifestation of cosmic consciousness.

Untying the cord of breath which binds the soul to the body, Kriya serves to prolong life and enlarge the consciousness to infinity. The yoga method overcomes the tug of war between the mind and the matter- bound senses, and frees the devotee to reinherit his eternal kingdom. He knows his real nature is bound neither by physical encasement nor by breath, symbol of the mortal enslavement to air, to nature's elemental compulsions.

Introspection, or "sitting in the silence," is an unscientific way of trying to force apart the mind and senses, tied together by the life force. The contemplative mind, attempting its return to divinity, is constantly dragged back toward the senses by the life currents. Kriya, controlling the mind directly through the life force, is the easiest, most effective, and most scientific avenue of approach to the Infinite. In contrast to the slow, uncertain "bullock cart" theological path to God, Kriya may justly be called the "airplane" route.

The yogic science is based on an empirical consideration of all forms of concentration and meditation exercises. Yoga enables the devotee to switch off or on, at will, life current from the five sense telephones of sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Attaining this power of sense-disconnection, the yogi finds it simple to unite his mind at will with divine realms or with the world of matter. No longer is he unwillingly brought back by the life force to the mundane sphere of rowdy sensations and restless thoughts. Master of his body and mind, the Kriya Yogi ultimately achieves victory over the "last enemy," death.

So shalt thou feed on Death, that feeds on men: And Death once dead, there's no more dying then. 26-13

The life of an advanced Kriya Yogi is influenced, not by effects of past actions, but solely by directions from the soul. The devotee thus avoids the slow, evolutionary monitors of egoistic actions, good and bad, of common life, cumbrous and snail-like to the eagle hearts.

The superior method of soul living frees the yogi who, shorn of his ego-prison, tastes the deep air of omnipresence. The thralldom of natural living is, in contrast, set in a pace humiliating. Conforming his life to the evolutionary order, a man can command no concessionary haste from nature but, living without error against the laws of his physical and mental endowment, still requires about a million years of incarnating masquerades to know final emancipation.

The telescopic methods of yogis, disengaging themselves from physical and mental identifications in favor of soul-individuality, thus commend themselves to those who eye with revolt a thousand thousand years. This numerical periphery is enlarged for the ordinary man, who lives in harmony not even with nature, let alone his soul, but pursues instead unnatural complexities, thus offending in his body and thoughts the sweet sanities of nature. For him, two times a million years can scarce suffice for liberation.

Gross man seldom or never realizes that his body is a kingdom, governed by Emperor Soul on the throne of the cranium, with subsidiary regents in the six spinal centers or spheres of consciousness. This theocracy extends over a throng of obedient subjects: twenty-seven thousand billion cells-endowed with a sure if automatic intelligence by which they perform all duties of bodily growths, transformations, and dissolutions-and fifty million substratal thoughts, emotions, and variations of alternating phases in man's consciousness in an average life of sixty years. Any apparent insurrection of bodily or cerebral cells toward Emperor Soul, manifesting as disease or depression, is due to no disloyalty among the humble citizens, but to past or present misuse by man of his individuality or free will, given to him simultaneous with a soul, and revocable never.

Identifying himself with a shallow ego, man takes for granted that it is he who thinks, wills, feels, digests meals, and keeps himself alive, never admitting through reflection (only a little would suffice!) that in his ordinary life he is naught but a puppet of past actions (karma) and of nature or environment. Each man's intellectual reactions, feelings, moods, and habits are circumscribed by effects of past causes, whether of this or a prior life. Lofty above such influences, however, is his regal soul. Spurning the transitory truths and freedoms, the Kriya Yogi passes beyond all disillusionment into his unfettered Being. All scriptures declare man to be not a corruptible body, but a living soul; by Kriya he is given a method to prove the scriptural truth.

"Outward ritual cannot destroy ignorance, because they are not mutually contradictory," wrote Shankara in his famous Century Of Verses. "Realized knowledge alone destroys ignorance. . . . Knowledge cannot spring up by any other means than inquiry. 'Who am I? How was this universe born? Who is its maker? What is its material cause?' This is the kind of inquiry referred to." The intellect has no answer for these questions; hence the rishis evolved yoga as the technique of spiritual inquiry.

Kriya Yoga is the real "fire rite" often extolled in the Bhagavad Gita. The purifying fires of yoga bring eternal illumination, and thus differ much from outward and little-effective religious fire ceremonies, where perception of truth is oft burnt, to solemn chanted accompaniment, along with the incense!

The advanced yogi, withholding all his mind, will, and feeling from false identification with bodily desires, uniting his mind with superconscious forces in the spinal shrines, thus lives in this world as God hath planned, not impelled by impulses from the past nor by new witlessnesses of fresh human motivations. Such a yogi receives fulfillment of his Supreme Desire, safe in the final haven of inexhaustibly blissful Spirit.

The yogi offers his labyrinthine human longings to a monotheistic bonfire dedicated to the unparalleled God. This is indeed the true yogic fire ceremony, in which all past and present desires are fuel consumed by love divine. The Ultimate Flame receives the sacrifice of all human madness, and man is pure of dross. His bones stripped of all desirous flesh, his karmic skeleton bleached in the antiseptic suns of wisdom, he is clean at last, inoffensive before man and Maker.

Referring to yoga's sure and methodical efficacy, Lord Krishna praises the technological yogi in the following words: "The yogi is greater than body-disciplining ascetics, greater even than the followers of the path of wisdom (Jnana Yoga), or of the path of action (Karma Yoga); be thou, O disciple Arjuna, a yogi!" 26-14

26-1: The noted scientist, Dr. George W. Crile of Cleveland, explained before a 1940 meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science the experiments by which he had proved that all bodily tissues are electrically negative, except the brain and nervous system tissues which remain electrically positive because they take up revivifying oxygen at a more rapid rate.

26-2: Bhagavad Gita, IV:29.

26-3: Bhagavad Gita IV:1-2.

26-4: The author of Manava Dharma Shastras. These institutes of canonized common law are effective in India to this day. The French scholar, Louis Jacolliot, writes that the date of Manu "is lost in the night of the ante-historical period of India; and no scholar has dared to refuse him the title of the most ancient lawgiver in the world." In La Bible Dans L'inde, pages 33-37, Jacolliot reproduces parallel textual references to prove that the Roman Code Of Justinian follows closely the Laws Of Manu.

26-5: The start of the materialistic ages, according to Hindu scriptural reckonings, was 3102 B.C. This was the beginning of the Descending Dwapara Age (see page 174). Modern scholars, blithely believing that 10,000 years ago all men were sunk in a barbarous Stone Age, summarily dismiss as "myths" all records and traditions of very ancient civilizations in India, China, Egypt, and other lands.

26-6: Patanjali's Aphorisms, II:1. In using the words Kriya Yoga, Patanjali was referring to either the exact technique taught by Babaji, or one very similar to it. That it was a definite technique of life control is proved by Patanjali's Aphorism II:49.

26-7: Patanjali's Aphorisms, I:27.

26-8: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . . All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."-John 1:1-3. Aum (Om) of the Vedas became the sacred word Amin of the Moslems, Hum of the Tibetans, and Amen of the Christians (its meaning in Hebrew being sure, faithful). "These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God."-Revelations 3:14.

26-9: Aphorisms II:49..

26-10: I Corinthians 15:31. "Our rejoicing" is the correct translation; not, as usually given, "your rejoicing." St. Paul was referring to the omnipresence of the Christ consciousness..

26-11: Kalpa means time or aeon. Sabikalpa means subject to time or change; some link with prakriti or matter remains. Nirbikalpa means timeless, changeless; this is the highest state of samadhi.

26-12: According to the Lincoln Library Of Essential Information, p. 1030, the giant tortoise lives between 200 and 300 years.

26-13: Shakespeare: Sonnet #146.

26-14: Bhagavad Gita, VI:46.

God talks with Arjuna

Hear now, Arjuna, how thou shalt have the full vision of me, If thy
heart is set on me and if, striving for Yoga, I am thy refuge supreme.

And I will speak to thee of that wisdom and vision which, when known,
there is nothing else for thee to know.

Among thousands of men perhaps one strives for perfection; and
Among thousands of those who strives perhaps one knows me in truth.

The visible forms of my nature are eight: earth, water, fire, air, ether;
the mind, reason, and the sense of ‘I’.

But beyond my visible nature is my invisible nature. This is the fountain
of life whereby this universe has its being.

All things have their life in this Life, and I am their beginning and end.

In this whole vast universe there is nothing higher than I.
All the worlds have their rest in me, as many pearls upon a string.

I am the taste of the living waters and the light of the sun and the moon.
I am OM, the sacred word of the Vedas, sound in silence, heroism in men.

I am the pure fragrance that comes from the earth and the brightness
Of the fire I am. I am the life of all living beings, and the
Austere life of those who train their souls.

And I am the from everlasting the seed of eternal life. I am the
Intelligence of the intelligent. I am the beauty of the beautiful.

Yes Chris, indeed it does ~ yoga means 'yoke' or union with God. The asanas or exercises commonly done in the west are only a fraction of what yoga is. Pure and simple kriya yoga (yoga meditation) is a scientifically proven method of God union. It is also called the royal path to God.

Kriya, How much of the marketing of kriya yoga have you proved for yourself? A succinct and honest list would be great of your acheivements along this path. Remember, someone once said there is no such thing as secrecy in a free world. Can you give me the links to or the references to the double blind studies / scientific studies you refer to as having been done to prove kriya yoyas science? Remember, exaggeration is a form of lying...and if I dare say so is not befitting of a yogi - in my mind! Also if it does not work for everyone as stated then could the one's it does not work for consider themselves having been lied to? It has been my observation that every path always have exaggerated claims. With my imagination I was able to see that if what was stated above in your kriya yoga explaination was true, then every soul would have already perfected itself through such a system? My intuition is telling me something is wrong here...just like other paths I have been exposed to who have claimed similiar sensational results. What can we do...welcome to the earth program...a program based around the concept of lying! lol

Jeez, there's no pleasing some people!. I detect a lot of negativity in your post realitycorrodes, which frankly I don't appreciate. I don't want this thread turning into a slanging match. So I'll repond to your post but I won't again..

Firstly, I'm not marketing anything. This is my path, which I wish share, take it or leave it. Secondly, the information on Kriya Yoga is from the book Autobiography of a Yogi, I didnt write it. It is scientific because you can experiment with the techniques and find out for yourself the validity of the method. I have no wish to argue with you on the merits of kriya yoga, I know they work, and so do thousands of others. And I or Yogananda are certainly not lying. But its not easy, it takes effort, perseverence and intensity. As you very well know, because you have asked me before, I can't give you the techniques because I would be breaking my oath, but there is nothing stopping you from getting them yourself. The Self-Realization Fellowship is open to everyone.

You wish me to give you a blow by blow account of my realizations as proof, ha ha, how long have you got? All I will say is that I found what I was seeking.

Please stay off this thread unless you have something positive to contribute.

The nomenclature of yoga is a confused subject isnt it?

I thought Kriya yoga was 'action' yoga, and in fact the techniques have now been published, Sw Satyananda published them in ? (from memory) "kundalini tantra". I have the techniques with me as i transcribed them into my notebooks. Its advanced stuff, beyond asanas. They are sort of hatha yoga with Pranayama, Pratyahara and Dharana. They are not to be meddled with!

Yoga, as defined by Patanjali has 8 limbs (=ashtanga yoga, ='royal' yoga ='raja yoga) :
1. Yama : Universal morality (be nice toothers)
2. Niyama : Personal observances (be nice to yourself)
3. Asanas : Body postures
4. Pranayama : Breathing exercises, and control of prana
5. Pratyahara : Control of the senses
6. Dharana : Concentration and cultivating inner perceptual awareness
7. Dhyana : Devotion, Meditation on the Divine
8. Samadhi : Union with the Divine

(there are 6 forms of yoga, 3 believe in god as an individual and 3 believe in god as a universal process, patanjali's ashtanga is one of the 6 forms)

I cant find the links but scientific experiments were done with Sw Rami, he was put into a diving bell with a candle and a monkey..then they took the oxygen out... monkey keeled over, candle went out, Sw Rami played a musical instrument for an hour longer than these events :)

I have looked at many spiritual paths and techniques, and keep on with my yogic studies (with a few shamanic practices), I havent found anything to better them yet..

Thanks for the the thread Kriya, keep up the good work

I hope I dont step onto anybodies feet here but I'm the kinda show-me-what-you've-got- guy.

Naturally, being a sannyasin and all, I have a LOT of friends who do yoga (including my ex who did yoga religiously daily, even on vacation, much to my frustration, she might travel without her son or without me but never without her mat).

they age like I do. they get sick like I do. you SEE them aging, and if I may be so bold, some age faster than I do.
My father with 86 looked better than some of my friends who do yoga in their 70s. (he played golf daily)

if yoga had ANY visible means to rejuvinate the body above and beyond the average life expectancy I would be on it like a MADMAN.

I have not seen it. and I have met a LOT of people who did it for DECADES.

of course one can always argue they would have been much worse off without it but thats kinda like the guy who says his granpa was a woodchopper in the sahara, isnt it?

I have READ all kinds of miracle things, especially in indian books, about saints who lived 500 years in some cave with a particular yoga technique I cant recall at the moment.

but other than that (and that was only in written records) I have never seen it.

why dont they live for 500 years looking 30? thats what I would expect from REAL yoga according to the old scriptures and your arjuna/god quotes.
(ah, and while I did TM I did yoga myself religiously, for 3 years)

WoW, I didn't realise posting about yoga would be so controversial.

Sam thanks for being so polite, I hope that wasn't too difficult, lol. I think by using pranayama techniques you can slow the ageing process, but by how much who knows. After all many of the great realised masters didn't make it into real old age. Techniques like kriya, stop the breathe and slow down the heart rate considerably, so that you are in suspended animation, so theoretically you age slower.

VM thanks for the Pantajali info, if you want to know about the foundation of modern yoga, thats where to start. I also use scientific in its loosest sense.

Ultimately, ~ and this may also prove to be controversial, the amount of realisation one has is as my Guru once said is 25% your effort, 25% your gurus effort and 50% the grace of God. Like all things it has to be earned karmically. So get meditating.

Jeez, there's no pleasing some people!. I detect a lot of negativity in your post realitycorrodes, which frankly I don't appreciate. I don't want this thread turning into a slanging match. So I'll repond to your post but I won't again..

You only perceive it as negative because it challenges your pet belief system.

A slanging match is when one is shamelessly being derogratory about one's character without any evidence.

I merely asked some sincere questions and eluded to the possibility of lying which to anyone not in a cult could probably be seen as being valid remarks.

Firstly, I'm not marketing anything.

That is your opinion - to those who have studied hypnosis and neurolinguistic programming and mass mind control of religions in general it looks entirely possible that this is a marketing piece for another religious mass mind control system.

This is my path, which I wish share,

Indoctrinate and infect, much like the christianity virus possibly?

take it or leave it.

I shall leave your particular brand of it. Thank you for offering me the choice.

It is scientific because you can experiment with the techniques and find out for yourself the validity of the method.

That is not scientific. YOu are right - you are very loose with your use of the word scientific. I must add this justification of saying if you try it (infect yourself with it) you can prove it for yourself (but what if you don't, but your still left infected...mindless doing it with no results for years and years) - therefore it is scientific is the key to the whole "mass mind control". If you are interested in the truth beyond a pet belief you would know this...but from my perspective you appear to be a cult member. Only a real friend would tell you this my brother! No offense intended...just an objective observation....you can take that and leave it as you wish!

I have no wish to argue with you on the merits of kriya yoga, I know they work, and so do thousands of others.

I am sure the techniques work for some...I was not debating that....I was merely pointing out that they don't work for others....which means the statement about them be foolproof is a lie.

And I or Yogananda are certainly not lying.

Are you sure. I would recommend meditating on that! Or at least doing some kriya yoga on it?

But its not easy, it takes effort, perseverence and intensity.

So here come the excuses. Why was not this piece of information mentioned in the hyperbole of the marketing?

As you very well know, because you have asked me before, I can't give you the techniques because I would be breaking my oath, but there is nothing stopping you from getting them yourself. The Self-Realization Fellowship is open to everyone.

Again I have to wonder why such marvelous techniques which can transform a soul into an enlightened being are being kept secret. Should not these techniques be common knowledge so all the evil people in the world so they can get to transforming themselves into enlighten beings. If you can't see their is something very wrong with secrecy then I am wasting my time here!lol

You wish me to give you a blow by blow account of my realizations as proof, ha ha, how long have you got? All I will say is that I found what I was seeking.

I am glad you have found what you have been seeking. Denial is a wondeful thing! And ignorance is indeed bliss

Please stay off this thread unless you have something positive to contribute.

I speak my truth! Truth in my view is a positive force. Because my truth challenges your pet belief system you have become judge jury and executioner and have decided that my truth is negative. What a beautiful dictatorship...have you considered becoming a guru yourself...these are the kind of principals at work in a cult run by a guru.

No freedom of speach...unless of course it aligns itself with the parties agenda!

Freedom of speech is a very important civil liberty worth fighting for....but obviously not to be found around here.

Rest asured Kriya I will not post any more on your territory.

Dear Kriya......... as it is from your heart, there will always be those that try to damper the vibes of pure love......

Dear realltycorrodes.....sometimes we try to provoke on things we don't fully understand in our 3D reality........

We had an old dog, who had heart problems, and was not enjoying its life that much any longer,

every morning before going to school I kissed and hugged it goodbye,
knowing that one afternoon I would not see him any more.

and it died,
as my mother had tried to wash it as it smelled so bad,
before taking it to the vet.

My sister cried her heart out, as she was so sensitive, feeling from her heart,

and I shed not even one tear, as I was happy that the dog felt no more pain.

My sister called me a cruel, senseless being, not caring, showing any emotions at all.
and she told that to other people as well.

Was that so ?

She did not care about the dog at all, but she cared about the way people comforted her,
raising her sensitivity, telling her what a good person she is !

She was like seeing the dog's death as a good opportunity to be seen as "a sensitive spiritual being" .

What do you people know about "realitycorrodes", can you feel his pain for you ? for your ignorance ?

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we had a world where everybody said, 'We don't know?' The fact is that you're surrounded by God and you don't see God, because you KNOW ABOUT God. The final barrier to the vision of God is your God concept. You miss God because you think you know. The highest knowledge of God is to know God as unknowable. All revelations, however divine, are never any more than a finger pointing at the moon. As we say in the East, 'When the sage points to the moon, all the idiot sees is the finger'.

This is such a hilarious story that let me share it.

My ex husband and his friends were good decent people, but not that spiritual.

So, I divorced ten years ago, and I happily moved on, doing physical yoga, reading spiritual books,
some of them followed me to the same yoga teacher,

until one day one of them discovered the Book by De Mello,
it was better than any book of economics, business or programming,
it was THE BOOK for them !

Whenever I met my ex he tried to give me the book or talk about it,
and I always said No, it is not my path.

A couple of times he managed even to put that book in my bag !

Then, when I thought that he had finally given up,
he came to pick up the children for the weekend, but he came back,
and dropped the book through my mailbox.

There was a letter inside the book "read this book, and here is some money for you to buy something nice for yourself..."

I tore the book, took it out, I shoved it deep in the trashcan,
and I kept the money, so I got some good things out of it.

So What is kriya yoga? I thought I knew, but I am never so sure. Perhaps there are many variations and different ideas. I thought I would post what I know as Kriya yoga, or to be specific, I will detail the first of 20 Kriya techniques that I have in my notebooks.

Before I do, i will preface the following with this... Whilst I am now a seeker of good coffee (Peruvian organic fairtrade my latest find) I was a full time seeker of ? the truth? for want of a better word. Full time seeking involved living out of a rucsack and I would copy books into my notebopoks to carry around (I carry them still). I never thought I would pass them on so I dodnt keep reference sources. I know the following was from one of my heros, Sri Swami Satyananda Saraswati, and I believe it is taken from his book called 'Kundalini Tantra" but I cant be sure. I am not going to explain the yogic terms in this post.. however if there is genuine interest I dont mind interpretting in a non yoga way, and I dont mind including all of the 20 techniques in my notebooks... if there is genuine interest

So:

1. Vipareeta Karani Mudra (the attitude of inversion)

Assume vipareeta karami asana (not quite a full shoulder stand)... the chin should not touch the chest.
Practice subtle ujjayi pranayama. Be sure the legs are completely vertical. Eyes closed.
Inhale with ujjayi and simultaneously feel a hot stream of amrit or nectar flowing through the spinal passage from manipura to vishuddhi.
Retain the breathe for a few seconds. Be aware of the nectar remaining at vishuddhi and becoming cool.
Exhale with ujjayi, sensing the nectar flowing to ajna, bindu and then sahasrara. The sensation is that of the nectar being injected with the help of the breath.
After exhalation, immediately return awareness to manipura and repeat the kriya.
Practice 21 rounds....

this is what I understand to be kriya yoga. (part of)

Chakra Anusandhana (Discovery of the chakras)
Assume siddhasana. eyes closed, breathing normally
Bring your awareness to Mooladhara
Your consciousness should slowly ascend the frontal passage of arohan from mooladhara to the frontal point of swadhisthana, to to manipura, anahata, vishuddhi and to bindu. Name the chakras mentally as you move along the passage.
Then move your awareness down through the rear Awarohan passage from bindu to ajna, vishuddhi, anahata, manipura, swadhisthana, mooladhara, naming them mentally once again.
Immediately rise up arohan and continue the cycle for 9 rounds. Do not make a deliberate effort to locate the chakras, just greet them in passing.
If you prefer, imagine your consciousness as a small silver snake.

Hi Kriya,

Im posting this reply for Gio, as he is busy moving today. We both appreciate you posting this video of Peace Pilgrim's life and work. I have the book that her friends compiled, after she died, about her life and her wonderful peace work. I shared this with Gio last year. Her story is fantastic and extremely inspirational. It seemed tragic to me that she died in a car crash, but her life was dramatic and unusual, so I suppose her leaving of this plane would be also! I have re-read this book many times as her spiritual journey and development is such that any student on the spiritual path would benefit from her experience of the great changes she went through plus her spiritual realizations. Her great courage to set out and achieve what she did in her quest to embody peace are a tremendous monument to her. I wonder why she isnt more widely known and acknowledged for her life's work.

It has puzzled me too as to why she is not as famous as she deserves to be. Probably because she lived a quiet an unassuming life without a media machine behind her.

A great woman!!

Nada Sanchalana (conducting the sound consciousness)
sit in siddhasana. Exhale completely. open eyes and bend head forward so it drops in a relaxed manner, but not against the chest
Bring awareness to Mooladhara and say "mooladhara' mentally.
Raise your consciousness slowly up through Arohan, as you inhale, and at each chakra mentally repeat their names. Start tilting the head back at vishuddhi and by Bindu the head should be right back, retain the breath, mentally say bindu then vocally chant OM as you take your awareness down through the spinal passage (Awarohan) back to mooladhara, at which point tilt the head forwards again.
Retain the breath at mooladhara and keep mentally repeating mooladhara.
With the inhalation rise the consciousness again to repeat the cycle
Practice 13 rounds
Visulaise the chakras as you chant and pass them.

The Kumbh Mela is the biggest gathering of people in the history of humanity although few in the West have ever heard of it. More than 70 million pilgrims attend this extraordinary spiritual festival, which has been held every 12 years near Allahabad, India, for over two millennia. A vast tent city is established to accommodate the masses, and many of Indias greatest gurus and spiritual leaders set up camp to give discourses to their devotees. On certain auspicious days everyone takes a holy dip at the confluence of two actual rivers - the Ganges and Yamuna - and a mythical river, the Saraswati. On the main bathing day, more than 25 million people bathe in the sacred waters. This single act of faith is believed to cleanse the sins of a thousand lifetimes and secure release from the endless cycle of rebirth literally a short cut to the state of purest bliss nirvana.

In fact there are a few different versions of the Kumbh Mela (there are 4 venues for the main one, which cycle every 12 years) but there is usually a similar festival, e.g Ardh Kumbh Mela, i think every 4 years? ... anyway.. the point is that these festivals occur every 3-4 years in one form or another, and if you get the chance then GO! amazing amazing experience :)

The benefits of Kriya Yoga

Your life will reflect spiritual consciousness if you meditate. Since the publication of my book [Autobiography of a Yogi], everyone is asking about Kriya Yoga. That is my purpose. I didn’t come to give theological abstractions, but a technique whereby those who are sincere can truly know God, not just theorize about Him....The practice of Kriya gives the true experience of religion, which cannot be had by just talking about God. Jesus said: ‘Why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?’

“When by Kriya Yoga I open my spiritual eye, the whole world drops away from my consciousness, and God is with me. And why not? I am His child. St. Ignatius said, ‘God seeks willing hearts that He may give His bounties to them....’ That is most beautiful, and that is what I believe. God seeks willing hearts for the bestowal of His gifts. He is willing to give us everything, but we are not willing to make the effort to be receptive.”

Decades before the mainstream discovered the power of affirmation in healing the mind and the body, Paramahansa Yogananda was teaching rapt audiences around the country how to directly access and apply the remarkable healing powers hidden within every human being. He introduced this powerful healing practice to American audiences during his first cross-country speaking tour in 1924. Throughout the 1930s and 40s, the great teacher would nearly always open or conclude his inspirational services at the SRF temples he had founded by leading those present in an affirmation for healing, or for awakening will power or devotion or perception of the presence of God. Today hundreds of thousands of people around the world have benefited from the practice of his techniques of scientific healing affirmations.

Affirmation Instructions

Understanding How to Use the Power of Affirmation
From Scientific Healing Affirmations, by Paramahansa Yogananda

Man’s word is Spirit in man....Words saturated with sincerity, conviction, faith, and intuition are like highly explosive vibration bombs, which, when set off, shatter the rocks of difficulties and create the change desired.

Each thought of depression or happiness, irritability or calmness, cuts subtle grooves in the brain cells and strengthens the tendencies toward sickness or well-being.

The subconscious idea-habit of disease or health exerts a strong influence. Stubborn mental or physical diseases always have a deep root in the subconsciousness. Illness may be cured by pulling out its hidden roots. That is why all affirmations of the conscious mind should be impressive enough to permeate the subconsciousness, which in turn automatically influences the conscious mind.

Strong conscious affirmations thus react on the mind and body through the medium of the subconsciousness. Still stronger affirmations reach not only the subconscious but also the superconscious mind — the magic storehouse of miraculous powers.

Declarations of Truth should be practiced willingly, freely, intelligently, and devotionally. One’s attention should not be allowed to lag. Straying attention should be brought back again and again like a truant child and repeatedly and patiently trained to perform its given task.

Patience and attentive, intelligent repetition are wonder-workers. Affirmations for curing chronic mental or bodily afflictions should be repeated often, deeply and continuously (utterly ignoring unchanged or contrary conditions, if any), until they become part of one's profound intuitional convictions.

Choose your affirmation and repeat all of it, first loudly, then softly and more slowly, until your voice becomes a whisper. Then gradually affirm it mentally only, without moving the tongue or the lips, until you feel that you have attained deep, unbroken concentration not unconsciousness, but a profound continuity of uninterrupted thought.

If you continue with your mental affirmation, and go still deeper, you will feel a sense of increasing joy and peace. During the state of deep concentration, your affirmation will merge with the subconscious stream, to come back later reinforced with power to influence your conscious mind through the law of habit.

During the time that you experience ever-increasing peace, your affirmation goes deeper, into the superconscious realm, to return later laden with unlimited power to influence your conscious mind and also to fulfill your desires. Doubt not and you shall witness the miracle of this scientific faith.
How to Practice Affirmations

1. Choose an affirmation for your particular need.
2. Sit with spine erect.
3. Close your eyes and gently focus your gaze and concentrate at the point between the eyebrows.
4. Then, Paramahansaji said, “take a deep breath and exhale it, three times. Relax the body and keep it motionless....
5. Cast away anxiety, distrust, and worry....
6. Repeat all of the affirmation, first loudly, then softly and more slowly, until your voice becomes a whisper.
7. Then gradually affirm it mentally only, without moving the tongue or the lips, until you feel that you have attained deep, unbroken concentration — not unconsciousness, but a profound continuity of uninterrupted thought.
8. If you continue with your mental affirmation, and go still deeper, you will feel a sense of increasing joy and peace.”

Pawan Sanchalana (conducting the breath consciousness)
Sit in siddhasana, eyes closed. Practice chechari mudra and ujjay pranayama throughout.
Exhale completely, open the eyes and bend the head forwards.
Become aware of Mooladhara and repeat its name mentally 3 times.
Mentally say Arohan and begin your ascent of this frontal passage. Become aware of, and name, the chakras as you pass them.
Between Vishuddhi and Bindu, raise your head.
At Bindhu, say its name 3 times, then say Awarohan and begin the decent down this rear passage. Identify and name the chakras as you pass them. As you decend slowly close the eyes, gradually entering unmani mudra (attitude of drowsiness). By Mooladhara the eys will be closed.
Open your eyes and bend the head forward. Repeat mentally "mooladhara' 3 times and begin the ascent as before
repeat 49 rounds

kyria, I am thinking we may get quite a show this year, what I have been observing is the fractals that are making up most of these crop designs. I am hoping to see more expanded fractals in these designs as earth herself moves closer to her ascension.

I have noticed as the years have gone by, more complex designs are being made, which for me means the higher earths vibration, the more complex these crop circles will become.

The one you have shown is also one of my faves!

tnx Kriya for sharing the Padre Pio movie

at the end of part 20 Pio asks

why is there evil in this world

and tells a story

there is a mother who is embroidering on a frame

and her child is sitting by her side on a small stool

the child is watching his mother working

but he's watching her from below

and he tells her

what are you doing mom? this embrodery is ugly!

so the mother lowers the frame

and shows him the right side of her work

with the colors on their right place

and the threads forming a harmonious pattern

evil is like the reverse side of that embrodiry

and we are all sitting on a small stool

Shiva, Padre Pio was treated very badly by the vatican for most of his life. He had tremendous power amongst the local people and they feared that. He was also tormented constantly by demons, as the closer one is to God, the more the satanic forces try to mess with you. In terms of the Vatican; Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. However, I wouldn't compare Padre Pio to the Nazis, lol!

This earth is the university of spiritual growth, things happen for us to choose wisely, hope fully
Hitler brought the world to its knees in more than one way.
So many found God, so many learned to forgive the most horrendous things imaginable.
Hitler was insane rather than evil I would say -- total megalomania.
Who knows? I dont.
Hope fully we have learned enough not to go into world war 3.

Hi Kriya
The light attracts the dark.
Yogananda said "The dark comes from the same place as the light.
So many paradoxes.

My understanding is that everything serves a purpose.

Hi Chris,

Yes I think you are right, darkness does serve a purpose, as it eventually brings you to the light. However, I've always had a difficult time reconciling the fact that God created both good and evil. It is written that " I am the Alpha and Omega, I create the darkness and the light. The only way that I can deal with it is if I think that although evil exists it is humanity's choice as to whether one follows the path of light or dark, that actually this is the ultimate test as to which way we go. I sometimes think that is all just one big cosmic joke, and God's just taking the p**s out of us (please excuse my language), but I feel very strongly about this. For me life is one test after another......but as one sage put it......Lord I didn't ask to me created, so you must liberate me. I feel like that too.

This is the reality of this physical 3D existence on this planet. The free choice of duality where you get to choose what you want to reflect.
However, your spiritual growth will depend on the choices one makes.

Not all the planets give you this "tough school" to experience and grow fast spiritually.
That's why many "of us" chose to incarnate here to experience it and have a chance to grow spiritually faster than anywhere else. JMHO

Kryia, IMO God didn’t create good and evil. God however did create polarity so that we could experience the all of it. God created cold and hot, up and down, sweet and sour, soft and rough, dark and light – well you get the gist. Now good and evil are just perspective derived from human judgment. Now remember God is unconditional love and therefore could not possibly judge and seeing that everything is God then how could God possibly judge ‘himself’. Therefore in God’s ‘eyes’ there is no good and evil and I expect if he had to judge then he would see it as what works and what doesn’t work depending on what us human’s are trying to achieve. Clearly a lot of things in our world do not work but as judgmental humans who’ve not yet attained conditional love then we choose to label them as good and evil rather than what works and what doesn’t work. The latter has less emotional baggage attached to it.

It really is one cosmic dichotomy and an even bigger cosmic joke. Of course God is laughing – who do you think invented humour? The thing is God can afford to laugh cos he knows in his infinite wisdom that this is all a game and that eventually all parts of him will go back to him and then we can all laugh together. Don’t forget God gets to experience himself through us and if all of us were ‘good’ all of the time then it would be pretty boring for an eternal being. Don’t get me wrong though cos I myself will be having words with him when I get up there!

My view is also that we did ask to be created and only we can liberate ourselves. God only wills for us what we will for ourselves and asking a force outside of ourselves for liberation just keeps us in a victim mentality. We have to remember God lives within us therefore we have that power to do it for ourselves – I know it seems impossible most of the time but this is one of the most challenging things we have to do in our lives. We have to set ourselves free and the irony is that once we do that then we will come to see that we were actually free in the first place and it was our judgment based perceptions that kept us in our own chains. In my experience one of the first steps to ‘freedom within’ is to change the dialogue we have with ourselves. You say that life is one test after another for you (I used to say that also for decades) but now I say ‘yesterday I thought life was one test after another for me but today I see life’s challenges for me and I will rise to those challenges and find the hidden gift they bring because I know they will expand my consciousness and help my soul to grow.’

Ok I’ve rambled on long enough here. I know I’ve told you this before but it’s worth repeating - Love your thread.

Hi Kriya
I know I speak a lot of David Hawkins but his life story is fascinating.
He grew up with strong religious belief as a teen, then one day he was shown, intuitively, the total suffering of mankind since time began.

He could not believe in a God who created this suffering.

He became an agnostic but was devoted to truth and searched rigorously through science greatest books of the western world etc.
He became very ill and in the depth of despair he cried out " If there is a God I ask him for help"
Enlightenment happened.
He now knows "God did not create misery the human ego did"

God gave us free will and does not interfere unless asked.

Many a time Ive said " This time youve gone to far God"

When I have aligned to Gods will ie whats in my own highest interest, life has gone really well.
When I am willful then all goes ******* wrong.
So the "darkness" gives me positive feed back. If I dont get it, the lesson comes back in some other form .
God lets me get on with it unless I ask for help.
So there you have it.
Love c

Ultimately what you say is true, but I do disagree with some points.

I wasn;'t refering just to self when I say life is one long test but to all humanity. We live in this duality where we need a bleeding hero and a villian, and yes I know its just a show and good and evil merely judgements. However, humanity suffers greatly and I take real issue with that, as I am very sensitive and one needs to be tough to get through it. Has not everyone wept when having a deep realisation of the true nature of the world.

Kryia, I hear what you say and my experience used to be the same for such a long time but am glad to say that I’ve out grown that and that has helped my sanity and my heart a great deal – although I still have my moments though. You see I’m an empath by birth and have ‘suffered’ others’ ‘suffering’ greatly since childhood – but that’s another story. My experience now dictates that we don’t need any heroes or villains but people choose to behave as such. I however chose to be my own hero and never chose to be a villain. Now I just choose to be because my goal is to be in this duality but not of it. What I mean by that is that I choose not to feel others’ suffering anymore but yet stay very much aware of it and am still able to feel much compassion but no longer sympathy. I have found that sympathy allows and enables others to revel in their drama of suffering and in fact adds to the energy but compassion does the reverse. I now spend all the energies I used to waste suffering others’ pain into healing energies towards them but that means I have to keep my own energies up otherwise I’ll just be going through the motions whilst in reality adding more heavier ‘more sad’ energies to their drama. I feel I can have more of an impact on others whilst my energies are vibrating higher. Considering how energies interact with each other then this can only be a positive thing for the good of all. And now I’ve come to a point in my being where I no longer just give of myself to others but choose good for myself also for I deserve it just as much as others.

‘A master never speaks of suffering for that alone gives it more life. Yet the master is compassionately aware of pain.’

I dont understand why it is the way it is. I think you read my life story at Dan's.
I could very easily say why me?
I just dont know.
All I can say is because of what I went through in life I was able to develop the skills and the compassion to help others.
I saw people come and be helped, be befriended go out drink again and die.
Ive lost count of the number of funerals I went to of people in their prime, lives claimed by alcoholism.
The other side of it is that the experience started my spiritual journey and that I saw hundreds recover and lead healthy and positive lives, each one a miracle.
testimony to a Loving God who intervenes when asked to through the unconditional love of the members of the fellowship of AA.
Im not a member now as such so I dont have to be anonymous. I go now and then so I dont forget to be greatfull.
Im writing this because it is not about me but about a Power greater than I who restored me to sanity.

Kriya, you are a sensitive soul, and I can relate to you. I'm a man and I admit that I've been weeping a lot lately.
We're all experiencing this reality with emotions and all its sorrows and suffering.
Even Jesus himself wept. If you're familiar with the scripture story of "The Death of Lazarus" (John 11) (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%2011&version=NIV) you'll see that he was affected by emotions as a human too. The thing is to not "get caught" in negativity and stay there trapped in fear.
It's all a matter of perspective, but please stay positive because in the end everything is just an experience. JMHO :)

Much missed here by me.

Within you and Without you.

"We were talking-about the space between us all
And the people-who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion
Never glimpse the truth-then it's far too late-when they pass away.
We were talking-about the love we all could share-when we find it
To try our best to hold it there-with our love
With our love-we could save the world-if they only knew.
Try to realize it's all within yourself
No-one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small,
And life flows ON within you and without you.
We were talking-about the love that's gone so cold and the people,
Who gain the world and lose their soul-
They don't know-they can't see-are you one of them?
When you've seen beyond yourself-then you may find, peace of mind,
Is waiting there-
And the time will come when you see
we're all one, and life flows on within you and without you."

Nisargadatta was a big influence on me.
His book "I am That" complex but very precise.
He said that every action you take even doing good with the best intention has agenda until you are enlightened.
People dont understand enlightenment --- I dont either only those in that state can.
Nisargadatta had a firey temper. he lost it in the presence of Ramesh Balsakar who interpreted for him.
He had turned on a visitor from England who had been visiting him for days.
Ramesh said werent you a little hard on the visitor after all they came long way to see you.
Nisargadtta went from anger to laughter instantly and said "Ok. Why dont you teach the visitors?
Ramesh was given the grace of the guru and of God, enlightenment occurred.
After enlightenment the persona is used as an instrument for presence to speak through.

I spent ten days at a seminar put on by Ramesh he was acknowledged as the main Advaita Teacher in India.

Sages appear very ordinary but the energy emited from their auric field has an immense effect on those who enter it.

Life is kind.

Very credible.
Dolores Cannon saying much the same.
However I do have a problem with the idea of ETs rather than God creating life for obvious reasons.
It seems a diluting of Truth.
God is still Ultimate Creator no matter what, That from which ETs came as well.

Its like you were saying in the book thread.
At some point in time the teacher says its time to put the books aside,
we need the books videos etc but at some point in time they become redundant -- they just slip away.
I hardly read or watch videos now though if I get a flat spot the books or videos will raise the energy again.

Well you've hit the nail right on the head there. It's the $million question and one I too find difficult to accept.

Yet, if Bob Dean and many others are to be believed, the fact that we have been genetically engineered, is the very reason why ET disclosure will not happen any time soon. As they think it will destroy religion, which they have wrong, it will destroy Christian dogma, which IMHO is a good thing.

I look at it like this. We are essentially souls, created by, and part of God. Advanced ET races created bodies, very much like we already can do now. However, we are not the body, they just created the vehicle that our God nature resides in.

Hi Kriya

I see it very simple.
You read my life story.
No ET helped me when I desperately needed help.
I have literally felt the love of God come down though my crown chakra, spread through my body, fill me with bliss.
For me all else other than God, is just story telling.
An Interesting fun part of the human experience but part of the illusion.

My body is totally irrelevant.
It is my vehicle for this sojourn on earth.still.
I am the same as ever one else, a unique wave of the ocean of consciousness.

Every single enlightened being who lived in the last 100 years had their words faithfully and accurately recorded Kriya that is brilliant.

No distortion no dogma nothing but pure truth and do you know something? They basically all said the same thing.
In the enlightened state all duality, all ignorance falls away, its timeless eternal, non locality, no birth no death, omnipotent, omnipresent. .
When all belief systems, all dogma all concepts are stripped away all that remains is God.
That is realizing the presence of God within.
That Presence is within every single soul waiting to be discovered-- no secrets, takes persistence.

People confuse Sainthood with enlightenment.
An enlightened being uses the persona to communicate.
Ramana was love itself, if a spiritual seeker didn't listen to him he would suggest a visit to Nasargadatta who was tough love.
He would shout at them, then laugh.
Enlightenment is our destiny.

Love,

Kriya

Your right and not completely so, love.
Its in respect of the way that love comes out of them. A Saint can greatly love God as separate entity ie dualism.
According to DH its a different path. enlightenment being the higher.

I talking out of context you would have to read it all in the book "Discovery of the presence of God/Devotional non duality."

To further muddy the water,

A Saint can be enlightened but not necessarily so. Human beings define Saint hood, God enlightens.
An enlightened one can be a Saint but not necessarily so. Different functions.

The Saint is more in this world. The enlightened is a mystic and actually live in the formless while appearing to live in the world.
The enlightened has realized Oneness, no person left.
I think Mother Teresa who incidentally did a fore word to Dr Hawkins Power vs Force, has been given Sainthood by the church. Given is the wrong word but you know what I mean. She was enlightened.

I watched an Italian film on the life of Padre Pio a few nights ago. The acting was superb, the story so moving I was in tears.

Incidentally not one mystic of modern times has mentioned UFOs if it was important to our spiritual evolution I think it would have been mentioned.
Im open minded to their existence though.

Not saying Im right about any of this but its my understanding of the moment.
Love Chris

I'm only talking about enlightened saints, so we don't disagree. The Padre Pio movie you loved was posted right here on this thread by me, so I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes, it was very moving!

IMHO, UFOs and ETs having nothing really to teach us about spirtual evolution, as I believe it's all self-enquiry. However, saying that, I'm still totally fascinated by them.

QUOTATIONS FROM THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD (pbuh)

"He who knoweth his own Self, knoweth God."

"Especially if you are well-to-do, see that no one goes hungry or naked."

"Do you love your creator? Love your fellow-beings first."

"He is not strong and powerful who throweth people down; but he is strong who witholdeth himself from anger."

"The ink of the (spiritual) scholar is more sacred than the blood of the martyr."

"Remember God in prosperity, and He will remember you in adversity."

"Love of the world is the root of all evil."

"Whoever loveth to meet God, God loveth to meet him."

"All actions are judged by the motive prompting them."

"The most excellent jihad (struggle) is that for the conquest of self."

"Do not say, that if the people do good to us, we will do good to them; and if the people oppress us, we will oppress them; but determine that if people do you good, you will do good to them; and if they oppress you, you will not oppress them."

"Heaven liveth at the feet of mothers."

"He will not enter hell who hath faith equal to a mustard seed in his heart; and he will not enter Paradise who hath a single grain of pride, equal to a mustard seed, in his heart."

"Whoever is humble to men for God's sake, may God exalt his eminence."

"Verily your deeds will be brought back to you, as if you yourself were the creator of your own punishment."

"The creation is as God's family; for its sustenance is from Him: therefore the most beloved unto God is the person who doeth good to God's family."

"Give the laborer his wage before his perspiration be dry."

"The world is forbidden to those of the life to come; the life to come is forbidden to those of this world."

"If a man finds himself with bread in both hands, he should exchange one loaf for some flowers of the narcissus, because the loaf feeds the body, but the flowers feed the soul."

"He is the most perfect Muslim whose disposition is best; and the best of you are they who behave best to their wives."

"The greatest crimes are to associate another with God, to vex your father and mother, to murder your own species, to commit suicide, and to swear to lie."

"Shall I not inform you of a better act than fasting, alms, and prayers? Making peace between one another: enmity and malice tear up heavenly rewards by the roots."

A white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action.

Even as the fingers of the two hands are equal, so are human beings equal to one another. No one has any right, nor any preference to claim over another.

Hi Kriya;
I must admit that I am just today, going through the diary. (only page 4, so far.)

I first read AutoB. Of A Yogi back in 1973.
Am thinking I will probably put it on my re-read list.

I noticed you quoted St. Thomas at one point, so...:
113: His disciples said to him, "When will the kingdom come?"
"It will not come by watching for it. It will not be said, 'Look, here!' or 'Look, there!' Rather, the Father's kingdom is spread out upon the earth, and people don't see it."

For anyone interestd I have copies of a few things of interest: The Gospel of Thomas, (http://fredsitelive.com/books/religion/Sch_Thomas.html)and that of Mary Magdalene (http://fredsitelive.com/books/religion/Gospel_Mary_M.html)

Page 2 (I think) Horizon put up a quote which reminded me of something bt D.T. Suzuki - "If you find yourself caught out in the rain, don't bother running. It's raining everywhere."

random thoughts,
Fred

Hi Fred, welcome to the thread. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed making it.

I have both the Gospel of Thomas and Mary Magdalene (thanks for linking these books) and in my opinion, they reflect the true teachings of Jesus.

Here's to you:tea: getting to pg25.

Love,

Kriya

Ps AOY is always worth a second read imho.

Kriya the words you have posted here by the prophet Muhammad are words spoken from the true heart of the source. These words are infinite as they stand frozen in time reaching beyond the boundaries of our imagination straight into the heart of everyone walking on the road of the journey within.
