"A nature-lover has revealed how he spent two days tracking down a giant insect on a remote New Zealand island – and got it to eat a carrot out of his hand.
Mark Moffett’s find is the world's biggest insect in terms of weight, which at 71g is heavier than a sparrow and three times that of a mouse.
The 53-year-old former park ranger discovered the giant weta up a tree and his real life Bug's Bunny has now been declared the largest ever found."

Holy moley... he's a HUGE bugger!
And adorable in his carrot feasting way.

I like his chair technology, too; he can sit down for dinner wherever he is.

Awesome stuff: thanks, Raf!

I also thing he´s lovely somehow. I guess if one gets used to his strangeness, he could be a really nice pet! :)

I think it is awesome. I'm not a fanboy for bugs... but I'd have no problem letting it crawl around on me.

Did you folks know... that you can tickle a tarantula..and it will laugh?

(there are many species of Tarantula)

Wow, yup that's big. Still no match for the dreaded shoe of doom!

I quite like the little fella though. I bet all the haters would think it was cute if it had a little Santa outfit on.

WOW! A giant (sort of) cricket! I love crickets! But are they ever freaky looking ... when I was a kid I used to love their sounds at night (ground crickets - not tree crickets), and the first time I saw one I was completely disgusted. Good thing they make pretty sounds ;-)
There is another type of cricket that is nearly equally as huge and freaky looking ... can't recall the name .. something religious sounding ... <pause> ... nope, the name escapes me sorry - I'll update the post if I recall.

This isn't as big, but in my town we have the largest, to my knowledge, grasshopper species in the state. They breed every summer in my backyard and they get huge, but not as big as that guy. That thing is huge!

Wooooow, that's so neat! I'm showing everyone in the house. :D Also, being from South Texas, I'll take one of these things over a huge, flying cockroach any day of the week. :p

Eeew. Eeeew. Eeeew! I can't stop itching now. When I was a kid a grasshopper jumped up the leg of my bell-bottom jeans (dating myself here, I know...) and I could feel it scratching around trying to get out. I have been terrified of those things ever since. I ripped my pants off right then and there and it jumped on the wall to freedom. And I ran down the hall in my underwear to freedom!.... Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

Grasshopper vs. Chuck Norris? Id take Grasshopper 5 to 1, unless Chuck Norris knew grasshopper style then 3 to 1.
