Debunking the Top 10 Energy Myths
The road to clean energy is full of enticing opportunities—and perilous pitfalls. Picking the best path requires avoiding both starry-eyed hype and cynical fatalism. In this special report, PM debunks 10 of the most pernicious myths that could derail our progress....

Peace to all.

Thanks, Studeo. My problems with PM: credibility loss from their 9/11 conspiracy debunking. And their frequent mention of CO2 emissions as a deadly threat to the environment ("David Hughes, a fellow at the Post Carbon Institute..") These seem to me to be hallmarks of mainstream hypnosis. I do like the passages about solar energy though and there is some good info.

Thanks for posting!

I find their 30-years life time for solar energy guesstimate disturbing :) just few months ago I searched for 1000W solar cell, and no retailer would give 90% power guarantee for more than 3 years. On the other hand, Mars rovers operate for 6 years now, surpassing lifetime calculations (they used "solar panels "flapping" to clean dust ... at least officially :P)
The geothermic-quake connection is a weak one, sure there were quakes, but with drill project near San Anderas IIRC ... when you drill in "shield" such problems are non-existing.
-> Interesting cost/profit-vise comparison here with Google experiences<- (http://commoditybullmarket.blogspot.com/2010/05/geothermal-vs-wind-energy-pros-and-cons.html)

Popular mechanics are the same sh*theads who applaud the official version of 911, I wouldn't believe them if they told me the sky was blue and water was wet.

Re: geothermal heating
What happens in the case of an earthquake? Can whatever element that taxis heat upwards snap in an earthquake? Or is there some slack in it?
