So, i have only just learned about the sun going through one of its highest solar flare activity for some years... doh.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced or has seen reports of interference with power supplies recently. We had several powercuts yesterday in my area in england and somebody suggested a link, but im not convinced as yet. I wanted to see if there was a link.

I read about the risks of solar flare activity about three years ago but at the time i just thought it was BS. Now it seems a reality.

Can someone provide some reliable links so i can find out more information?

Many thanks

I asked a very well regarded Astrophysicist what his thoughts were about significant CME's at the end of last year. He replied saying that this is more or less what to expect and there is more activity likely as we approach the next solar maximum in the next 12 to 18 months. He went on to say that the (then) level of activity remains well below the levels of past cycles at this point in their development and that activity will have to increase very dramatically to say that all bets are off.
